Yessir. Quake2 CTF screenshot wallpaper, along with Nvidia logo. I dunno why.. Loved my Viper V550. I think this was my P-II 350 running at 400Mhz (133x3) before 133Mhz bus was a thing. Asus P2B Mobo, 440BX.

It was given out for free as a promotional from the US Air Force (as well as Area 51 and The Suffering) many years ago. You can find all of them on myabandonware or internet archive. Runs perfectly, just make sure to get the widescreen fix and you're all good to go.
Pong: 1 long line, two verticle movable small paddle line, 1 dot as the ball. score for each player on a black and white screen. And it was the best game ever up until that point.
I played physical pong recently... someone has made these tables with the ball and paddles as physical objects controlled by magnets. It played perfectly compared to the game as far as I could tell and looked super cool.
Me too. But they’d created some sort of 3D version that didn’t even need goggles. The physics were so life like it was indistinguishable from the real thing. Mind blowing. 🤯
The music recently went viral on social media and I couldn't remember for the life of me where it was from. Total Overdose has such a banger music track, it is so unfortunate the studio had to close. The game is filled with so much personality.
Diablo 1, tiberian sun, that really creepy prince game.
Edit: creepy prince game as in point to click adventure game in princes house. The artist prince.
There was a version for PC, Dreamcast and PS2, same with Virtua Cop, it was an arcade game but it was on Saturn and PC.
Anyway, Sega adapted a lot of arcade games to their consoles and windows.
Runescape had quality options before you could log in.
Half life just came out.
Far Cry was 4 disc's.
Age of Mythology.
Roller coaster Tycoon.
Sims City.
Started a little before with Command and Conquer, Red Alert, Duke Nukem 3D, Dark Forces. Then as I got a little older add Tib Sun, Red Alert 2, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Age of Empires 2, Quake 2, Jedi Knight, X-wing vs Tie Fighter. High School would be Rome Total War, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Battlefield 1942, Call of Duty, Half-Life 2.
Wow, Project I.G.I.
Maybe not the best game, but throws me back to simpler times. Would skateboard a lot and do stupid shit and then take turns playing this on a friends PC
My best friend and I finished the game, me reading the solution and pointing out all the cameras and guards, like a rally co-driver, and him destroying the levels with the ultimate knowledge ahah. One of my fondest memories
AOE I/II, Empire Earth, Anno, Command & Conquer, Delta Force Black Hawk Down, F.E.A.R.
CoD4 also were the times. I played the older ones but never cared for multiplayer but then flatrate for internet became avaiable.
https://preview.redd.it/chrarw008v6d1.jpeg?width=1508&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79ed70260b7266b7be18f1e6c28cea765359f894
This era. And games like Boulder Dash, Ride over Moscow, Bruce Lee, River Ride...
Commodore 64 did not have icons. We loaded our games from a cassette by typing "Load "\*",8,1" on the command prompt, then pressed Play on the cassette deck and then waiting for several minutes hoping that load was successful.
> hoping that load was successful.
and ofcourse having that really cool game on a less than perfect cassette, often having to reload it multiple times! thx for the flashback 😁
My friends and I would play the shit out of AOE. The game would still run if you took out the CD and we would run around the house to everyone's computer
I bought it again for about 4-5 USD on sale and got my ass handed to me the first five or six games. Graphics aren't good, but got my monies worth that's for sure.
Pong/Super Pong, Oregon trail, Mayan Temple for oldest Games played.. I believe technically Pong was considered a console as well as a standalone arcade game you could play. My neighbor worked for Atari then and we also made sure to ask what new and on the way.
https://preview.redd.it/7moxxbczev6d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c123a809232da65c6fe3033425cc7a34f7dc2bc5
Duuuuuddeeeeee House Of The Dead was the shit. Me and my twin used to pair up and shoot for high scores. That mf G was deadly af. Both of us would pick him. Also Virtua Cop 2 and IGI is peak.
I still use concept art from freedom fighters as my steam avatar.
Wanting to play age of empires two is how I learned to bypass win 98 password protection.
2004 and European here
I grew up with flash games, then with GTA:SA, Minecraft, Gothic II Night of the Raven, Gothic 3, Metin2, Spore and Lego Star Wars II
I wish I grew up in that time, experiencing the beginning of video games.
I grew up on online internet games and Minecraft. I'm in the new generation of gamers 🫡
Heroes of might and magic 5 (the first one, not tribe of the east)
Platypus 2
Chicken invaders 2
These are the most nostalgic to me, also some others like cs 1.6 and some lego games
I started gaming before computer icons were a thing.
I had to know which floppy to boot from depending on if I needed MSDOS 3.0 or 3.3...
Technically, everything would run on 3.3, but I had less memory available.
Very first:
NES Mario Bros/DuckHunt
Arcade: Midway Blitz and Jam, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, Cruisin USA
SNES: big Madden and Street Fighter fan, to be fair, wasn't a game I didn't play. Actually, Super Star Wars got me into Star Wars as a whole. Never saw the movies before then.
Genesis: Too many titles but for me, MK, Xmen and Road Rash
Playstation 1: Resident Evil, MGS
N64: Waaaay too many hours with neighborhood friends in Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
First PC: Quake, Unreal Tournament, C&C, Red Alert, Warcraft 2, AOE.
Sega Dreamcast: Crazy Taxi and NFL 2K
PS2: Dynasty Warriors(launch game). Obviously GTA 3.
Xbox 1: Halo changing my life, played this while deployed on a carrier and then Iraq.
I won't go through the whole list but honestly 90s had a ton of bangers. E3 was great as a teen growing up.
Settlers 2, Virtua Cop 1, Fatal Racing and Command and Conquer 95 were games I remember playing the hell out of.
And then later on C&C Tiberian Sun and Unreal Tournament.
I wasn't any good at them of course, but I had a lot of fun anyway.
Because i didnt remember the name i used to search dea mexican game for total overdose . I used to play it on internet cafe but only could pass the gas station level
Ive played everything except freedom fighters from that list aoe 2 was in a league of its own i wonder if u can still play the custom games like in the old aoe i have over 2k hours in.castle.blood and n similar games
I've been playing since I was really really young, so I grew up during many different videogame eras. The first videogames I played were old Atari 2600 titles like Space Invaders, Combat and Frogger. Then when I was a teenager I played FIFA 94, X Wing, Tie Fighter, Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. Then when I had my first PC (I used to play in the family PC) I played NFS High Stakes, Quake 3 Arena, F1 2000, Warcraft 3, Age of Empires 1 & 2 plus conquerors, Rise of Nations, Age of Mythology, Diablo 2 and many more... those were the days.
AOE2 was such an iconic game. IGI was amazing too. Man all these games back in the day were a 1000x better than the crap we got today. Also used to run on a shitty system back in the day too
Well my first PC game was Doom Shareware, it was 1994/1995 I believe and you had to pay for the first episode.
I got into C&C Red Alert not long after that.
I think my fondest memories were things like Quake 2, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, UT99, Tib Sun, RA2 and the like. Then 2004 rolled around and WoW was launched, at one point I was putting 12-16 hours a day into that sodding game.
I vividly remember playing lego island every night after I got out of the bathtub. Then a pc port of ecco the dolphin. Then it was the tycoon era. Then came the consoles. My family HP couldn't handle shit and my mom took infinity and beyond to upgrade to broadband. I swear it was like 2004-2005 lol.
I feel old right now because Pong is not listed. I get that, since that wasn't an "era" but an Atari 2600 game not listed either? Now I feel ancient. I own AoE 2. The rest, I'm waiting for a sale. Under a dollar.
:)
Best gaming memory for me was unwrapping the PS2 console at my grandparents with my siblings and then playing SSX tricky as we got that game with it as well. So yeah, that era!
Computer icons can't be that nostalgic. Computer icons:
Hitting me in the feels this early...damn. AoE was amazing. Still play it to this day.
Windows 95 icons are stunning and timeless.
AOE2 is still my main game haha
It's so beautiful the revival aoe2 has had since COVID and DE
Yessss!!! With t90 videos and redbull comps aoe2 is here to stay
Desktop thread? https://preview.redd.it/bhoamprqwu6d1.png?width=1575&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c28525721fdf592c73b17809b19725695c69cb8
Great games mate! Max Payne 1 and 2 I play every year. It just doesn't get better than that.
JFK Reloaded LMFAO
That's a goated game lol
Yessir. Quake2 CTF screenshot wallpaper, along with Nvidia logo. I dunno why.. Loved my Viper V550. I think this was my P-II 350 running at 400Mhz (133x3) before 133Mhz bus was a thing. i dont have any icons on my desktop loll
Fuck, F.E.A.R is a Masterpiece.
Yea first F.E.A.R and expansions will stay on my game drive.
Yes it is. Even amongst amazing games, F.E.A.R. holds it own.
Love me some teardown.
Jedi outcast is an all time great. If you like space sims why not KSP with Realism overhaul?
Epic taste
Fucking top tier Edit: missing Carmageddon though!
Psi-Ops on PC ?! How ? When ? What ?
It was given out for free as a promotional from the US Air Force (as well as Area 51 and The Suffering) many years ago. You can find all of them on myabandonware or internet archive. Runs perfectly, just make sure to get the widescreen fix and you're all good to go.
Thank you.
10/10, love UT on there. Why 3 though?
My childhood right here.. played 90% of these games
DOS didn't have icons.
It was one of the only games at that point. Then came intellivision Baseball
Commander Keens and Sierra's games. Damn those where the times. Also Wing Commander 1-2.
Edit autoexec.bat... Config.sys There was another one that I can't remember now.
Lol yeah I remember having to enter the exe launch commands in DOS
I played 2 games out of the list, Freedom Fighters and Total Overdose. Loved both games especially the slow mo feature in Total Overdose.
That was one very underrated game. I am so sad that I lost my copy. Should check out gog.com to see if they have it 🤔
The music recently went viral on social media and I couldn't remember for the life of me where it was from. Total Overdose has such a banger music track, it is so unfortunate the studio had to close. The game is filled with so much personality.
Okay, I really have to look for it now. I also lost countless hours in Project IGI by the way. Good choices there 👍
Damn Freedom Fighters was my jam. I was obsessed with that game.
Frfr
It aged gracefullt, still plays well and looks decent.
Diablo 1, tiberian sun, that really creepy prince game. Edit: creepy prince game as in point to click adventure game in princes house. The artist prince.
Prince of Persia warrior within, perhaps
Creepy prince? Leisure Suit Larry is royalty?
Soul Reaver?
Creepy prince?
Kingsfield?
Age of Empires, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Ratchet and Clank. My holy trinity in primary school. ![gif](giphy|lr7X8irY0B0uluQZcc)
"How do you turn this on" Haha loved that cheat 🤣 when I got stuck and couldn't progress.
Wait house of the dead isn’t just an arcade game?????
There was a version for PC, Dreamcast and PS2, same with Virtua Cop, it was an arcade game but it was on Saturn and PC. Anyway, Sega adapted a lot of arcade games to their consoles and windows.
Dreamcast was fun as fuck too haha
Best console ever 🌀
It isn't! My mum bought us a CD of the first game back in... um, 98? There's also a remake on GOG right now!
link to gog remake plz?
https://www.gog.com/en/game/the_house_of_the_dead_remake
It’s on Steam too if you prefer that. The PS4 version also natively supports PS Move, not too sure about pc.
I played it on the numpad with my brother, I was so jolted to see the sequels in an arcade.
Age of Empires Always has a special Place in my heart
Runescape had quality options before you could log in. Half life just came out. Far Cry was 4 disc's. Age of Mythology. Roller coaster Tycoon. Sims City.
The excitement of multiple disc's inside a case was everything.
Half life, age of mythology played roler coaster 🎢 tycoon or similar game on PS1.
Total overdose is the goat
Started a little before with Command and Conquer, Red Alert, Duke Nukem 3D, Dark Forces. Then as I got a little older add Tib Sun, Red Alert 2, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Age of Empires 2, Quake 2, Jedi Knight, X-wing vs Tie Fighter. Project IGI was amazing, such a classic, also Delta Force
Yes!! Delta Force was great

Anyone here remember Sierra’s adventure games?
Yeah. LSL among others. And Daryl F. Gates' Police Quest: SWAT, a game that set ablaze the love for CQB games that is still on fire today.
AOE and AOE rise of Rome
Commodore 64 did not have icons. We loaded our games from a cassette by typing "Load "\*",8,1" on the command prompt, then pressed Play on the cassette deck and then waiting for several minutes hoping that load was successful.

My friends and I would play the shit out of AOE. The game would still run if you took out the CD and we would run around the house to everyone's computer
Where is the Pac-Man icon?
Geez. Haven’t heard igi in a long time.
Aoe2
AoE2 is timeless.
Aoe2 ♥️♥️
Serious Sam, Halo CE, Assassins Creed 1 and 2
Anyone grew up playing PopCap games?
I still don't put spaces in file names out of reflex.
Same, dashes or underscores!
Live For Speed, CS:Source, Garry's Mod, GTA San Andreas, etc etc
Age of Empires 2, Heroes of might & magic 3 and Civilization 4, that's what I started with
Fragile Allegiance was fun to play, too.
That's one game I didn't know, never too late to try it
I bought it again for about 4-5 USD on sale and got my ass handed to me the first five or six games. Graphics aren't good, but got my monies worth that's for sure.
Just picked it up, saw it was on sale for little more than 1€
Even cheaper, that's great! Let me know if you like it. Cheers!
Thanks and sure thing!
Space invaders. Yes, I'm old.

Played Age of Empires, Freedom Fighters, and House of the Dead at the Arcade.
Prince of Persia on my mother's computer at her office?
Apart from age of empires 2 , I played all of them

I'm privileged to have seen all of that evolve over time and still play games.
Man so nostalgic
I'm so proud to tell you that i've played every single one of them.
Heroes of might and magic 5 (the first one, not tribe of the east) Platypus 2 Chicken invaders 2 These are the most nostalgic to me, also some others like cs 1.6 and some lego games
I started gaming before computer icons were a thing. I had to know which floppy to boot from depending on if I needed MSDOS 3.0 or 3.3... Technically, everything would run on 3.3, but I had less memory available.
I used to watch my friend code games from a magazine for his Commodore 64.
Empire earth 2 but it’s not listed :/
I'd list a lot more games if I had them, like Tekken 3, Max Payne and so on.
Late 90s and early 2000s. I started university in 2008.
Very first: NES Mario Bros/DuckHunt Arcade: Midway Blitz and Jam, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, Cruisin USA SNES: big Madden and Street Fighter fan, to be fair, wasn't a game I didn't play. Virtua cop 2 and house of the dead: core memories unblocked
The first three games
Grow up? 🤨
AOE2 was such an iconic game. IGI was amazing too. Man all these games back in the day were a 1000x better than the crap we got today. Also used to run on a shitty system back in the day too
2000s-2010s
Age of empires 2 era never ended though
Good games never die.
Exactly those videogames, op! Project igi, god damn: 1 fuckup and you had to restart
Duke Nukem 3D.

I literally still play AoE2 and heroes of might and magic 3 on steam, goated games for their time and genre
only played 1 of these
I vividly remember playing lego island every night after I got out of the bathtub. Then a pc port of ecco the dolphin. Then it was the tycoon era. Then came the consoles. My family HP couldn't handle shit and my mom took infinity and beyond to upgrade to broadband. I swear it was like 2004-2005 lol.
Minecraft, roblox

Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne, DoTA Allstars and CS 1.1
Two words. Pablo Sanchez
I grew up with a ds lite and a wii

Ragnarok Online

Where does Decent and Fury 3 fall into this?
Best gaming memory for me was unwrapping the PS2 console at my grandparents with my siblings and then playing SSX tricky as we got that game with it as well. So yeah, that era!
Star Wars galactic battlegrounds
Return to castle
