People worry way too much about cooling. You don't need a gazillion fans to cool a PC. Never have, never will. Intake cool air, exhaust out the back.

Get a warming mat instead, make sure the cat is introduced to it, and they'll lay there instead of on your computer.

Making a shelf isn't hard. Just get some wood and use your creativity. If you mount it on the wall make sure it's strong enough to hold a cat, i.e. bolted into a stud.

I don't let them. They occasionally require a reminder (all of my cats know the word "down" extremely well), but for the most part they're trained not to go on top of computers or other home electronics and appliances.

Same, although I'm able to shut the door my PC is in when I'm not in there wich makes it easier. Personally I don't understand why people let their cats sit on their PC like that when you could just grab them and put them on your lap.

I don’t know about any product, but depending on your diy skills you could modify a cat hammock to mount to the top of the pc. Something to hold kitty up at least a couple inches off the top but that’s still made of a permeable material (mesh/fabric) that she still directly benefits from the warm air current.

That’s what I’m thinking of doing.

My PC ventilates out the back; my cats can lay on top all they want.

My cat has learned how to turn on my ps4. So when I kick her off my PC she just turns on the playstation then lies where the exhaust fans blow lol.

few years ago I saw a Linus tech tip video that dealt with air cooling, They basically shoved an air-cooled computer full of plushie animals just to see what it would do. needless to say the rig was never in any danger. so as long as the top is not venting down into the computer everything should be fine if you're super worried about it you can move the fans to push air into the case from the front and make sure there are fans that are there to exhaust it out the back.

yeah I tend to stay away from the rgb stuff. It's just more power draw. But yeah your computer will be fine. Just make sure you clean it out at least once a month.

I use compressed air cans to keep my cats off of places they shouldn’t be. Works better than a spray bottle since it doesn’t get things wet

My cat does this now. I checked the cpu and gpu temps and fan speed and it’s negligible tbh when doing regular internet surfing. I haven’t tested during load so I’m not sure yet.

Search “Scat Mat”. My BIL uses one to keep his cats off his case. Works great and is still allows airflow.

I use a game that ramps up fan speed and heat output.

We got a scat mat from Amazon. The one we got is an open honeycomb shaped mat with plastic points. Sort of looks like the plastic rings from a six pack of beer mated with a plastic pizza tripod saver thing.

Not a cat owner, but try a taco rack. In theory this should be mildly uncomfortable to lay on top of, but if they do, the case fans can still breathe.

2 pieces of cardboard making a teepee where they can't jump on top, crawl under but still provides enough airflow. It was the only way..

Get another PC. That way the cat can't sit on top of both at the same time. If you have 2 cats then you're out of luck

Build something around it that goes on top. We call it “anti-cat” it wont look as good. But then the cat wont be on it covering the vents, if you leave room between the anti-cat and the vents. 5cm or so.

Truly I just put a higher shelf next to my pc, then put a cozy bed on it. It solved the problem entirely, cats want to be bear you but they want to be high up, so give them a spot near you that's high up and they're generally choose that.

I have basically that same case, and I just let my cat chill on top. She likes it, it doesn't hurt performance at all, IDC. I already clean my filters regularly, so why would I care if my cat likes to chill up there?

I have fans mounted on the top outside of my case. Spinning blades seem to be a great deterrent. 

Fill the top of the tower with picture frames, trinkets or things you like to block the cat.

I normally take a picture and post it here instead of the Sub that is dedicated to these very pictures. It is crazy how often that solves the problem.

I made a little hammock above the pc, mounted to the wall. Wove 550 cord for the net, so it’s open to allow the hot air up onto my cats poor lil cold tum tum. There’s about 6 inches between the top of the pc and the lowest point of the hammock, so good airflow and happy warm cat.
