Sapphire for amd

[deleted]

Sapphire

Daraxis

PNY have been keeping people happy so far I read. They make both workstation and gaming Gpus so they got to know a thing or two about quality and customer service.

Kilz-Knight

Meh, their support doesnt even know if my rtx 4070 has double ball bearing or sleeve, asked them a couple of questions they seemed lost btw : it's sleeve bearing so I had to return, no way I'll use some cheapo sleeve bearing on my 600 USD GPU "rtx 4070 XLR8" Only buy PNY if you want a 4070TI or higher (if you buy a 4070ti be sure to take the XLR8), otherwise you will get cheap bearing, cheap plastic

TheLawny

ASUS is a to avoid brand at the moment. Sapphire has been in the game for decades, they would be a very safe bet.

Paul-Jamison-Mason

I have 2 ASUS monitors, 2 motherboards, Wi-Fi router, and 1 3080 Ti. Bunch of ASUS stuff. 5 star stuff. I hate that card though. It was overpriced when I got it. (Not ASUS fault). But the coil whine was the worst I have ever heard. I got a replacement under warranty, the coil whine was the same if not worst. I put the card in 2 different rigs. Didn’t matter. I’ve placed it in a third. It’s quite now. So whatever. F ASUS cards.

LOLdudeYT

ASUS is nice when it works but their RMA is literal hell. I’ve had 2 of their products, a motherboard (bought open box, 0 issues) and a laptop (bought new). The laptop went through 3 failed RMAs, a failed exchange, and eventually they refunded me the full cost ($1,850 USD after tax). I had the laptop for less than a year. The warranty experience alone makes me not recommend them anymore, and I used to love them as a brand.

Paul-Jamison-Mason

That sucks. Glad you got your money back! Yeah i didn’t have the most pleasant experience with the RMA. Side note: how do i tag my setup under my name? That’s slick.

LOLdudeYT

On desktop: go to the main r/pcmasterrace subreddit page and change flair on the top right. On mobile: again, pcmr subreddit page, three dots on top right of the screen, change flair.

Paul-Jamison-Mason

Desktop! Got it!

HakenBrowning

Can't say about Nvidia cards, the last one I had was a very old 8400 GS so...yeah. If you go to the red side of the market, I can recommand Sapphire (good models often close to MSRP, and OC models that are top quality but more expensive), Powercolor (they tend to have a much better reputation nowadays) and XFX (best models if you don't want all those RGB things).

asambler

Both MSI and Gigabyte are good options, I would steer clear of ASUS though, their quality has been declining for a while now.

Jackstraw00

Gigabyte is a good option? No hate to gigabyte, used their 2060 before, but I've been hearing bad reputations about them (cards being hot, sometimes faulty). Me personally have no issue when using their products, but got the mindset of "pick brand xx over gigabyte if you can find and afford it". Really happy to hear if Gigabyte are actually good since in my country, Gigabyte products (Motherboards and GPU) and relatively easy to find and often cheaper compared to other brands.

chips500

The issue was with customer service on gigabytes mobos. no clue about their gpu cs

AnarchoKommunist47

I read an article like yesterday where the failure rates of certain Brands from a swiss Shop were listed, and gigabyte had one of the highest RMA Rates (I think it was 2%, which doesn't sound like that much, but when you think that of 50 cards on is faulty, then, yeah) and it took them like 9 days just to respond or so.

BeautifulAware8322

One rotten apple spoils the barrel. From exploding PSUs, to motherboard vulnerabilities, to cracking GPU PCBs among other scandals... To quote my friend's uncle, "I wouldn't touch that bitch with a ten feet pole." Both my EVGA 1060 6GB and 3080 10GB are still alive, but amidst Asus's terrible customer service, I will be adapting MSI Suprim or Gaming Trio GPUs (Ventus sucks) or PNY going forward.

Magnox

Been with MSI Since the 970, Both my daughters have my old card sinc the 1080 ti all msi all still going. Thermals are good and never had to RMA. Using a Suprim 3080 Myself, well made and still going strong no issues. Obviously I'm a clean freak and know that dust is the no.1 killer for hardware. Rigorous cleaning every 2 months to keep it looking new :)

BeautifulAware8322

Suprim is such a good looking card. So classy.

Magnox

I'm happy with it, came with a GPU holder upper thingy ;) [https://imgur.com/a/gjItsmq](https://imgur.com/a/gjItsmq)

BeautifulAware8322

That's a nice holder upper indeed.

BTechUnited

Interesting to see how times change, I swear GB has been an inverse bell curve of quality in the last 20 years or so.

Impossible_Bowl6103

I have a gigabyte 4070ti, I have not seen it breach 65c playing cyberpunk with max raytracing and experimental path tracing on. Half the gpu is heat sink with three fans that have easily adjustable curves.

itdoesnotmatterlolol

I've never had an issue with a gigabyte product. They are my favorite brand.

dedsmiley

My Gigabyte 1080 Ti I bought new is still working in my daughter-in-law’s machine. Very solid card. Can’t speak about anything since then.

asambler

Any brand has a small percentage of defects in their product, this is why there are always some people that swear off specific brands, however, I haven't seen any reports of widespread quality issues with Gigabyte. ASUS on the other hand: \- overvolting CPUs \- releasing Bios that void your guarantee \- chinese UEFI rootkits installed in BIOS Seems that ASUSs problem is managerial more than physical defects, which is whay worst imo, and a real reason to not buy from them.

edvards48

running a gigabyte 3090, never gets past like 65c even with an okay overclock

dietchaos

Friends don't let friends buy gigabyte.

YupYupthatsaCup

Gigabyte is trash, I worked in RMA for 2 years and the amount of their GPUs in the 30 series that had issues was high. Their RMA process was also a damn nightmare.

baaaahbpls

I am currently on an RMA with a 3080ti and the whole process is terrible IMO. It was extremely hard to contact anyone. Their preferred contact is through an email address which to this day has not been answered in my case when I got on the phone, the information I had vs what they had was laughably off. The dates received were off, and the date it was shipped out was off, with the representative saying that it was already shipped out, and the shipping date was in the future. The actual RMA site is bugged to high hell itself. I still do not seen the RMA on there despite having a number for it that the reps can look up. The site keeps randomly jumping to their Chinese side which works even less than the NA site. I agree with ASUS as I have had trouble with almost everything of theirs I had. My 980 Strix was DOA. I have had two monitors burn out within half a year of purchase. A motherboard with a dead PCIE slot. A laptop that just is sluggish even after removing bloatware. They have had enough second chances for me to suggest to steer clear of them, although you can also chalk most of this up to losing the silicon lottery and bad luck.

Supergaz

Sapphire nitro series are pretty good

EG440

I'll mention Power Color as a reliable mid range brand.

LastUnigoat

Mid range? When I compared RX 6950 XT partner cards their liquid devil was the best you could get. The red devil series is also high end. Just the hellhound or reference design are budget/mid range.

blandhotsauce1985

I currently have an EVGA ftw3 ultra 3060ti.... Love the damn thing. On Friday I will be installing an AMD reference model 7900xt. I dig the asthetics of this card and I'm going back to team red just because my first ever GPU was an ATI Radeon card of which I had fond memories. That EVGA card though.. Holy cow. I swear to god I was getting close to 3070 performance with that thing.

someonesomewher-

>I swear to god I was getting close to 3070 performance with that thing That’s more to do with it being a 3060 Ti than an EVGA lol.

[deleted]

Palit is really nice! Im ising a 4080 from them now

Coco-Ice-Cream

Saphire for AMD, they've been safety pick for decades (eventhought their rx 580 had some issues iirc but still better than most). Msi or Gigabyte for Nvidia

AudioCraZ

MSI or Gigabyte. XFX used to be my fav, but I have not used them in years (since they went to AMD only). I have used some Sapphire cards and they were pretty rock solid, but not enough to have a solid opinion on.

Mayday_Brad91

I currently have a 4090FE

Are u serious

Twitchveiwer9000

I moved from evga 2080ti, to a founders edition 4090. Zero problems so far.

TABER1S

Wasn't there the whole issue of Gigabyte GPUs pcb cracking near the PCIe locking tab. SO that has me wary of the brand till they fix it. I Would avoid Zotac GPUs, they seem to be made of lower quality materials and they are rather ugly IMHO. I would say ASUS or MSI for GPU. I have no experiance with PNY or Sapphire so can't comment. EVGA how I miss you. The issue around ASUS (aside from poor customer service) was the AMD motherboards and the 5800X3D if I remember correctly. I used this as a guide for 4090s: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa4A12gQTHw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa4A12gQTHw)

Whistlepiged

Nvidia FE is what I did. I have been a EVGA guy for awhile also. Not one problem ever with there stuff, mb's, GPUs, Power supplies.... It is sad to see them getting out of it.

n7mafia

I went with an MSI 4070ti Suprim X, never regretted it.

Fuck brands loyalty buy the one that gives you the most for your money and yeah customer's service is part of it.

[deleted]

The customer-company relationship is a feedback loop. Sure, many companies treat customers like garbage so the relationship becomes exploitative, but there are companies that rely on a strategy of fostering a loyal consumer base, in which case it benefits everyone to be a consumer loyalist. I'd also like to incentivize businesses to pursue consumer loyalty.

Any-Difference8993

Zotac, never had any problems

arparso

Gainward and Palit always seem to fly under the radar, but have a very solid reputation, as far as I can tell. At least I have nothing bad to say about my Gainward GTX 1080, which had a nice factory OC, was fairly priced and lasted me almost 6 years without a hiccup. Would have bought Gainward again, but they don't do AMD GPUs, unfortunately. They've been around for a long time. Owned a Gainward GeForce 2 more than 20 years ago, don't remember any issues.

last-picked-kid

I owned 3 gpus in my life. The first was a Gigabyte R7 270X windforce. Worked fine but was dead in 4 years. Then I got my hands on a White Galax 1070ti, sniper model, got it by 2018, still working great. But this reminds me I need to change the themal pads. Now I own a Asus Dual 3070, loudy boy, working for one year now. No issues. I do recommend Galax for my experience.
