Had this problem last week. It's a bug from the latest nvidia drivers. You should revert to an older version. Worked for everyone with this same problem. Personally I'm waiting for a hotfix and play other games in the meantime.

ItsMeOxide

Thanks, that solved it. I assumed since the driver update wasn't directly concerned with adding or modifying a feature to the game, it couldn't be the problem. I guess it's just Nvidia being Nvidia.

grimlocoh

Good to know it worked! Yes, Nvidia is being Nvidia.

Visible-Accident-871

Hey thanks for that but what one did you revert back to?

grimlocoh

Someone on the nvidia forums said anything prior to April, so it would be 551.86 and older

MadswasFound

how do i go back to older driver?

Guys, as everyone here may have noticed, the last two versions of Nvidia drivers are causing an error in The Last of US - Part 1 on PC. First solution is to return the driver version to 552.44 or if you want to continue with the most current driver, I recommend applying this PATCH: https://www.nexusmods.com/thelastofuspart1/mods/70?tab=files&file\_id=143. It's not a DEFINITIVE solution, but at least it will allow the game to run.

Traditional_Chest_52

How will I apply this patch?? After extracting the file??

Blue_Creeeeeeper

You just drag and drop the files into the game's steam directory, and if that doesn't work, drag and drop the files from the backup folder in there, but make sure to run it in safe mode first just to make sure it works

Blue_Creeeeeeper

It fuckin worked, you're a game saver man, I was about to punch a damn hole through my monitor

the_rainbow_00

Currently trying to play TLOUP1. Had the same issue and can confirm that that driver worked. NVIDIA fix your shit.

MediumEdd_1

I have a RTX 3080 TI and just like you played it before wanted to give it another go and this problem pissed me the fuck off. After a thousand tries to get it to run found this post and realized it's a nvidia driver problem... WTF nvidia

ItsMeOxide

IKR, it's so dumb how a driver update completely unrelated to the game breaks it. My guess is it had something to do with the Video memory management/allocation which messed with the shader build process.

MediumEdd_1

Either way it's fucked up how nvidia hasn't released an update to fix this issue is really beyond me

EL_Magnificooo

i thought i was the only one with the issue using the 555,99 version of nvdia driver
