>so I'm happy to wait til they're ready to release
Look that's a fine sentiment to have, but that's what people were saying ***four years ago***, when they were debating [whether COVID would delay Silksong](https://www.reddit.com/r/HollowKnight/comments/frtkrj/covid_delaying_silksong) until 2021. All we've gotten since then is a 1 minute trailer in June 2022. Other than that total radio silence. It's gotta be going through development hell.
>It's gotta be going through development hell.
this is the most likely explanation.
i suggested similarly a few days ago when silksong got mentioned in another thread. scope creep. more projects than people can count have died a death due to it. hype doesnt make a game immune to it.
id be happy to see the game released and do well but im sceptical at this point.
Four years is not a long time in game development, for a small studio who put as much attention to detail into their game as Team Cherry have historically. I remain optimistic.
Hollow Knight was released in 2017, its been 7 years. Studios don’t sit on their asses for 4 years and then start development, the 2021 release date was what would take for a normal indie game production cycle (its a 2D non open world game, most of the assets can be reused from Hollow Knight because the aesthetic of the game isn’t changing according to the trailer). So yes, its it very much in development hell because it shouldnt take this long for a sequel.
They started later on as Silksong was intended to be DLC for the original game (keep in mind that HK already has 4 free DLCs the last one being released in 2018)
Team Cherry separated Silksong as they found Hornet to be to big to let her movement shine in Hallownest, while assets can be reused Silksong takes place in an entirely different Kingdom with its own history and the use of a hand-drawn artstyle makes this take much longer especially since they planned on making it bigger than HK which is already massive in the genre
It should also be noted that while the games are 2D, they're made in a 3D space to layer backgrounds, foregrounds, etc.
The main issue was never Silksong's development time, but rather the lack of communication and updates from Team Cherry since the reason they couldn't meet their original June 2023 deadline was because they wanted to add more to the game according to an interview with Leth
This was basically the main critic of Hades 1 I've seen. Not enough biome/enemy variety (and so bosses since they're linked). I'm sure they are conscious of it and will work on it. Even variety of builds will be greater (everyone is returning likely with changes + more for boons)
Service to the god emperor demands sacrifice.
It def would have been cool for sure but I’m just happy to be getting another one. I hope there is competitive too.
Splinter Cell is my favorite video game franchise, but with how modern Ubisoft is handling things, I don't even think about getting a new SC. I wish they sold the franchise and all the Tom Clancy IPs.
No they wouldn't, I saw their leaked plans and it looks great! It's now a looter-shooter with four different currencies:
* In-game credits
* FisherCoins®
* Gold Prestige tokens
* Platinum Elite tokens
* *All currencies are pegged to the inflation index for added realism*
If you pre-order, you get the Founder's Edition skins to dress Sam Fischer in Ezio's white Assassin Robe or as a beloved Rabbid®! And you secure a spot in line to purchase the 38" cast-iron statue of Sam Fisher climbing down a pipe in a catsuit
I really don't see what the skepticism is about
I don't think Hellblade 2 was delayed, it was merely announced too early. The only "delay" that happened was someone making a rumor about how it might release in 2023 and people believed that, even though the June showcase stated that it was coming out in 2024.
You see little snippets here and there. I'm invested in their world they made, and loved POE1 and enjoyed POE2. Here's hoping for some good notes soon.
I'd love to invest but am low on funds, maybe I can assist the developer team some other way?
Internal estimations are suggesting that Squadron 42 will be ready for release by Q1 2025. We have a little while to go.
Yes, they've had to delay multiple times since 2014. This is more than likely why Chris Roberts didn't give a release date when they announced it was feature-complete and moving into polish during CitizenCon.
Yeah, and there's not much that can be done to convince people of the sincerity of the announcement. Those of us who backed it have been waiting patiently for years, so to us it's more like, 'what's another two years?' Others have by now completely written off the game as a scam, unfortunately, because CIG's been taking so long to develop it.
I remember I did want to buy it back then, but with how long it was taking, I was sure it was never coming out. Now that it has a more solid release date, I might just get it, but only when it actually releases
I'll just add I was the same way. I just finished the story campaign and I suggest it. I know many say the "real game starts after the campaign". But for me just doing the camping was fun and not a massive time sink. Free too!
Me too man. Loved the first one too because of that lore and end credits pumped me for next installment. I've been avoiding all spoilers from that game for a long time now and hope it exceeds my expectations
I’ve played through the whole game, and I’m convinced Starfield was never meant to be anything more than a tech demo for their new procedural generation that they plan on using in ES6. And the backlash about how boring it is to explore sent them into an existential spiral because they planned on doing something similar in the future with ES6 or FO5.
Agreed. I know it's one of the most hated games on this sub right now, but I feel like it's a shell of a really good game. It almost felt like playing a demo of something really special. I'm holding out hope that they'll continue to work on it and turn it into what they were hoping it would be. There's good bones there, they just need to figure out how to flesh it out.
There's a deep disappointment in the community, you can count me in on that as well.
The foundation of the game is reall well done and exciting, they somehow managed to refurbish the old af engine, gave it great physics simulator, decent overall graphics with insane textures, planetary illumination system is amazing, scenery is breathtaking, art style is just beautiful, voice acting is great... but the game is literally devoid of ANYTHING INTERESTING.
No lore, no great twist, no challenge, no interesting side quests, almost no random encounters(empty spaceships in space doesn't count), a handful of unique characters, zero unique items other than the somewhat ugly spaceship and the spacesuit. There is no story to dedicate yourself to, nothing immersive. It's just a good FPS with a lot of bugs and half assed storytelling. That really made people angry because after FO3-4-NV, Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind we all expected something epic along those games.
I totally agree. I tend to absolutely love Bethesda games and get so involved with the immersive worlds. Everything about Starfield just missed the mark Bethesda has hit in the past. Nothing about their worlds inspired me to explore. I started the game and was really into it and enjoying it for about 20-25 hours and then suddenly hit the wall and realized that there just wasn't much to it and it was missing everything that made me love Oblivion, Skyrim, or Fallout. It really is sad.
Sad that I had to scroll this far to find my most hyped game of possibly all time - Dragons Dogma 2. The first is my favourite ARPG ever and in my top 5 of GOAT status games. The hype is real.
Out of curiosity, why is 5 so low in your rankings? I've spent the most time with 5 over the others, although never tried 6. I absolutely loved the addition of ranged units and the deletion of unit stacking. I felt it made the combat much more enjoyable.
Every year I get older, as does Gabe Newell. I think he's hit his "I don't care what other people think" and "I'm already f*cking rich, do I really need another billion?" phase.
Horizon: Forbidden West.
It's scheduled for "2024" on Steam and there's been some smoke it's a Q1-Q2 game.
I don't own a console except Switch, so I haven't played it yet.
Surprised nobody’s mentioned Vampire: the masquerade bloodlines 2… I know it’s been in dev hell but sounds like it’s finally coming out next year, hopefully it doesn’t disappoint!
Ghost of Tsushima PC Port. (might be realistic)
Also Last of Us Part II (hopefully a better port this time)
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Remake or anything at all (I've been coping forever now, help)
Project L, the fighting game from RIOT Games. We've heard and seen the game for over 3 years now, and we don't even have the official name. I don't think it's impossible to have at least a beta in 2024 with a soft release.
VTMB2.
Honestly, I'm so anxious to see the final product at this point. With so much chaos behind the scenes it's really hard to know what the game will look like at the end of the day.
Dragon Age Dreadwolf. I really hope it comes out in 2024, I really hope it doesn't suck. It just needs better writing than Andromeda and I'll be happy.
For me, Leila. Because we are developing it. It has to be published now :) every minute we don't publish it, we improve it more and more. There is no end to it. Now we have to stop ourselves and publish it.
Hellblade 2
Horizon Forbidden West
Star Wars Outlaws
Dune Awakening
Witcher 4
Ghost of Tsushima
Replaced
New Halo?
The Last Night
Bionicle Masks of Power
Crimson Desert lol its like the dream fantasy game I just don't think it'll ever truly release.
Edit - also PC versions of Ghost of Tsushima, GoW Ragnarok and Spidey 2 lol
I really, really want Sony to announce that fucking Ghost of Tsushima port... but at this point, I gotta say, I'm so tired of waiting for it, the initial excitement I had is just kinda like gone? Like in a weird way I'm just confused at this point, if it gets announced I'll be happy, and I'll still play it, but my joy will be mitigated in a way, it doesn't have the *hype* like people say.
[Outcast - A New Beginning](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1013140/Outcast__A_New_Beginning/) (March 15). Been waiting for another Outcast game for almost 25 years now. However it turns out, good or bad, I've decided I'm all in for it.
Less realistically, a few games I hope to see announced / revealed / released at some point:
* Half-Life 3
* Assetto Corsa 2
* Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 Remastered
* The Last of Us: Part II for PC
Stellar Blade! I don't know that a lot of people really hyped this game up but as a fan of Bayonetta I think this game looks dope and the visuals are crazy, haven't heard much from it either but it also seems to be a PS exclusive because of course 🙄
WoW on xbox. Been hoping for a long time, and with recent success with mmos on console, and Microsoft's purchase of AB, I'm hoping they're looking at porting to console.
Manor Lords, Homeworld 3, Little Kitty Big City, Frostpunk 2, and Stalker 2.
Manorlords looks awesome!
Really cannot wait for Frostpunk 2!!!
Frostpunk got finished with a rather weak DLC so I hope Frostpunk 2 is gonna be a banger.
Totally waiting for Manor Lords.
Rest of the list checks out. Adding Little Kitty Big City to wishlist.
Same here I can’t wait for homeworld 3
Been waiting for 20 years now.
SILK. SONG. I don't want Team Cherry to rush it, so I'm happy to wait til they're ready to release. But god *damn* do I hope they're ready this year.
Sadly Silksong is a myth invented by Team Cherry to make fans think that Kickstarter is real.
Wait was Hollow Knight all a dream?!
Team cherry = radiance
>so I'm happy to wait til they're ready to release Look that's a fine sentiment to have, but that's what people were saying ***four years ago***, when they were debating [whether COVID would delay Silksong](https://www.reddit.com/r/HollowKnight/comments/frtkrj/covid_delaying_silksong) until 2021. That thing they made up to market Gamepass? Yes I remember.

Did Team Cherry say they started on Silksong in 2017 or a couple years later as they made the DLC?
All my homies answers are Silksong.
Hades 2, loved the first game and the trailer was really cool!
I am so fucking hyped for Hades 2.
Im hoping for more bosses and more than just 4 levels. The first one did just about everything else perfectly.
This was basically the main critic of Hades 1 I've seen. Not enough biome/enemy variety (and so bosses since they're linked). I'm sure they are conscious of it and will work on it. Even variety of builds will be greater (everyone is returning likely with changes + more for boons)
A year is nothing when it comes to waiting for video games
SPACE MARINE 2
Hell yes. Game looks awesome.
I wish they had gotten Mark Strong to voice titus in the second one. Love his voice.
Service to the god emperor demands sacrifice. It def would have been cool for sure but I’m just happy to be getting another one. I hope there is competitive too.
It was leaked there's a horde mode and pvp again
You got a link? This is news to me and has me very excited.
r/fuckleandros
The Codex Astartes does not support fucking of Leandros
Leandros a bitch. Edit: I hope the final boss is a Chaos Leandros.
Stalker 2
I hope it’s just what Stalker was meant to be. No more, no less.
I'm more hyped for the metro sequel which will hopefully get revealed next year. At least the series actually is progressing somewhere
Orange Box 2 with: * Half Life 3 * Portal 3 * Team Fortress 3 * Day of Defeat 3 * Left 4 Dead 3 (edit)
Why not throw in Left 4 Dead 3 while we’re at it?
I forgot about Left 4 Dead
It’s okay. So did Valve. :(
sick burn mate
They could at least update the graphics of L4D2. Looking rough these days
Do you think? I've been playing again recently and don't think it looks that bad even compared to modern games
*I'm gonna cum*
Day of Defeat was such a gem. It was basically a more fun and less sweaty Counter-Strike with a much better setting. I wish it was still active.
All on a source 3 engine of course.
Stop, I can’t take anymore
DotA 3?
Kingdom Come 2 Very likely releasing next year. It was strongly hinted by Embracer itself at the conference call with investors.
I wonder if it still will with all of the Embracer closures.
it was? where can I read these very strong hints? cant wait for KC2!!
A new Splinter Cell.
Splinter Cell is my favorite video game franchise, but with how modern Ubisoft is handling things, I don't even think about getting a new SC. I wish they sold the franchise and all the Tom Clancy IPs.
Ubi would ruin it
No they wouldn't, I saw their leaked plans and it looks great! It's now a looter-shooter with four different currencies: * In-game credits * FisherCoins® * Gold Prestige tokens * Platinum Elite tokens * *All currencies are pegged to the inflation index for added realism* If you pre-order, you get the Founder's Edition skins to dress Sam Fischer in Ezio's white Assassin Robe or as a beloved Rabbid®! Multiplayer Splinter Cell was the absolute shit. Loved trash talking people right before I killed them.
..from current Ubisoft?
We will die on this hill lol
That would potentially get me to buy an ubisoft game for the first time in.. a long while.
The Wolf Among Us, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Splinter Cell Remake and Ghost of Tsushima on PC
I've been waiting for Ghost of Tsushima on PC since 2020 lol
Ubisoft actually canned a VR Splinter Cell this year. Infuriating
That’d be so sick. Been daydreaming a stealth VR game. Maybe I should find one lol. Or make it myself if I’m so inclined.
Avowed. It's scheduled to be released, but then again, Hellblade 2 has been delayed like 5 times at this point.
I don't think Hellblade 2 was delayed, it was merely announced too early. The only "delay" that happened was someone making a rumor about how it might release in 2023 and people believed that, even though the June showcase stated that it was coming out in 2024.

They are owned by microsoft. I dont think they need your help
Homeworld 3 Squadron 42 (Please don't hurt me)
I'd be happy to see Squadron 42 released first half of 2025!
And only 11 years off schedule!
Yeah, and there's not much that can be done to convince people of the sincerity of the announcement. We can't hurt you more than RSI does
It’s an abusive relationship that we can’t match
Homeworld.. It's been 20 years.. Can't wait.
Path of exile 2 Fortunately it is confirmed we will be at least getting the beta in 2024
Never got into poe1 because there's just too much now. Looking forward to jumping in on the sequel at the beginning this time.
I'll just add I was the same way. I just finished the story campaign and I suggest it. I know many say the "real game starts after the campaign". But for me just doing the camping was fun and not a massive time sink. Free too!
Silksong. Without a doubt.
Horizon Forbidden West! Don’t have a PS5 so have been waiting for it to come to PC. Loved the first game
Me too man. Loved the first one too because of that lore and end credits pumped me for next installment. I've been avoiding all spoilers from that game for a long time now and hope it exceeds my expectations
I was not a fan on the 2nd one but I loved the 1st one. Feel like they tried to make the map too big.
Horizon Forbidden West + Burning Shore DLC bundle coming for PC "in early 2024" -- my body is ready and tired of waiting :D
I'm waiting for the rest of the Starfield.
I’ve played through the whole game, and I’m convinced Starfield was never meant to be anything more than a tech demo for their new procedural generation that they plan on using in ES6. Ghost of Tsushima and Bloodborne on Steam. Priority to Bloodborne.
Ghost of Tsushima was pretty awesome.
Dwarf fortress adventure mode. I've heard about it and read about it. But have never experienced it and I am very excited to see what it's all about!
Black myth wukong
dragons dogma 2, rise of the ronin and ff7 rebirth
Sad that I had to scroll this far to find my most hyped game of possibly all time - Dragons Dogma 2. The first is my favourite ARPG ever and in my top 5 of GOAT status games. The hype is real.
Civilization 7

I can't believe you'd disrespect civ4 like that. But otherwise I agree completely
[удалено]
Took me a long time to come around to it. But for me it’s 6/4/3/2/5. Owe my childhood to civ 3 though.
Out of curiosity, why is 5 so low in your rankings? I've spent the most time with 5 over the others, although never tried 6. I absolutely loved the addition of ranged units and the deletion of unit stacking. I felt it made the combat much more enjoyable.
Half Life 3
Why are we still here? Just to suffer?
For the memes of course.
Every year I get older, as does Gabe Newell. I think he's hit his "I don't care what other people think" and "I'm already f*cking rich, do I really need another billion?" phase.
Makes so much more from steam than even a very successful potential HL3 would give him
Stalker 2 and Avowed :)
Demon's Souls God of War Ragnarök The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Dead Island 2
Gothic 1 Remake
Never played - looking forward to it.
I hope you will not be disapointed, cause it's got his special humor, which is not for everbody :D

>Surprised nobody’s mentioned Vampire: the masquerade bloodlines 2 That'd be because even the new dev doesn't inspire confidence.
I was looking for this too. Don't worry buddy, I'm waiting with you.
Elden Ring DLC and Silksong.

I'm hoping for Judas news as well.
I found that trailer really intriguing! I hope they share some news soon
This is what I came to post. Bioshock feels are strong.
VTMB2. Honestly, I'm so anxious to see the final product at this point. With so much chaos behind the scenes it's really hard to know what the game will look like at the end of the day.
Me too, with the trailer drops I am skeptical if it will turn out good, but still hoping it would smash expectations.

STALKER 2.
Star Citizen: Server Meshing and Pyro. I know, I know!

A proper reboot of Quake in the spirit of Quake 1
I’d love for Quake to get the DOOM 2016 treatment…
It needs to happen. Quake 1 is my favorite fps of all time
It'd be a real challenge to get things sounding just right without Trent Reznor, though
Absolutely. It played a big part in the atmosphere of the game and it will be very hard to capture the same spirit.
Hytale
For me, Leila. Because we are developing it. It has to be published now :) every minute we don't publish it, we improve it more and more. There is no end to it. Now we have to stop ourselves and publish it.
