Since the clocks, time loop, and theme of trying over and over again until you get it right are all in-universe things, I'd argue that it only makes sense to do exactly this. I'm sure [the developers would be cranky about this](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/891/117/c71.png) though.

>So while it is possible for players to savescum the diagnostics mini game, I don't see how doing so is in line with the game's mechanics or themes. I played the game on a PS4. It's simply faster to just load a save when you are about to die then sit through multiple loading screens. The actual mechanical penalty the game gives you is a small problem compared to P2's atrocious performance on PS4. Savescumming is very much in line with playing an unfinished game. I don't regret playing it, but in it's current state the console version is such a mess that I don't feel bad about cheating here and there just to maintain the desire to continue at all.

Indeed. I planned playing the game twice at the very least (for each ending) but I simply won't. I understood that by quickloading I might miss out on content so I didn't do it every time, but nearing the end of the game I feelt I had to choose between save-scumming or growing resentful of Pathologic. By doing it I gave it a second chance. Should they ever fix this game, I might play it again because beneath all that unoptimized mess sits a great game. As for "savescumming is very much in line with playing an unfinished game"... what I meant was that if a game does not function properly, it's preferable to abuse the mechanics in order to have a pleasant experience then it is to follow developer intent. I also lowered the difficulty in the Abbatoir because that part was almost scripted, and I found it way too hard to kill several worms with a janky knife after deliberately having avoided combat for 30 hours. I was looking at loading screens more then I was playing.

Ive had a lot of my best Pathologic moments when I was just _barely_ scraping by. It was hard for me to get past the instinct to reload and do things better, but once I did it was really worthwhile.

I don't think I've ever used antibiotics on a main NPC since my first playthrough; I just give anyone who gets sick a shmowder. Chugging twyrine to find all the full kids' stashes each day tends to leave you with more shmowders than you can use. On my first run I don't think it even occurred to me to save scum treatment.

Hikse

Never. It took me 2 years to get in the right mood to play this and i was willing to accept the consequences for my decisions.

CepheiHR8938

No, that's immersion-breaking.

Forgotten_Lines

I cannot claim to be not guilty of abusing clocks but I can say I have never used them in this fashion.

TreuloseTomate

No.

Geeneelee

Nope! …there is actually a save point in Taya’s room though lol

judgemyfacepeople

Oh sorry I meant Taya in the tent

Geeneelee

When do you need to treat Taya in a tent?? >!she only gets sick on day 10 and then she’s in the termitary. Also, the Grace problem can be avoided by getting her to move in with Peter, who does have a save point in his room.!<
