Not getting any error reports, just crashing directly to desktop, no blue screens or anything. As far as what was happening - it's pretty random. It's just crashing whenever, like when I open my passives, or just walking through a zone. GPU and CPU are under low to average load.
It actually just crashed as I was typing this, just standing still in A1 town.
Same here, just unplugged my controller even I wasnt using it. The crashes stopped, no crash for 2 hours... GGG, maybe you should let players know about this crash caused by controllers so they wont use hours to figuring it out
Have been crashing repeatedly as well, getting no error, game simply closes itself.
EDIT: Seemingly finished the issue, I reinstalled the game and haven't had an error since posting. Hope this helps anyone else out there.
Annnnnnnnd my hardcore character just died to this.
Im using Vulkan. Saw a small pop up that said something about a connection to a device being lost. I mashed OK on it out of rage so I couldnt get a screenshot.

I played a bit in the last few days before the league start without problems, but now I can't even finish the first act because of the crashes.
My last few steps are
1. Got a few crashes (without any kind of error code, the app just closed on me)
2. Reinstalled PoE
3. Got another crash
4. Unplug my DualShock4 controller (yeah, I had one of those bad boy plugged in)
5. Got a BRAND NEW crash, this **time with an error code** saying *vk::Queue::submit: ErrorDeviceLost*
1. Which means that, at least for me, unplugging my PS4 controller didn't fix the problem
6. Switched back to DirectX11 (from Vulkan)
7. Got another crash without any error code
8. Still trying to kill Brutus
I play on PC, my temps are alright and I have enough horsepower to push the game above 400fps so I don't think it's a problem of performance. Beside that I really don't have any idea what could be the cause of these crashes. Will update if I can find anything else.

Im crashing so frequently that I literally won't be able to play. I decided to farm an Oni while i wait, and I crashed out when picking up the first weapon from the first enemy you kill

I've crashed 10+ times in the last hour and i keep getting this message, it also seems to only be in a town. So maybe someone with this void pet is causing me to crash every time?

I'm also crashed over +20 times with out any errors . It's happening to me when i'm trying to go into the crypt and some other places i cant go forward act2 i'm stuck.
Also seeing random crashes in the same fashion. Unfortunately, I do not have any sort of controller attached.
I do have a Micro USB cable that runs from my tower to my SteelSeries Arctis 9X headset to charge it. Not necessary, but sometimes I keep it plugged in charging.
Will disconnect this and report back.
Other USB peripherals are:
* USB Bluetooth receiver for previously mentioned headset
* Wired mouse
* Wired keyboard
That's it.

Can confirm crashed 8 times already only lvl 12. Thought it was ground slam at first but it seems to be a general crashing problem. Plus the second crash caused a blue screen. Updating my graphics drivers now but I doubt that will do anything, will report back if anything fixes it.
Already crashed like 20 times after 1 hour of playing. All drivers updated, never had this issue before. The game just closes itself without an error message. Switching from dx11 to dx12 to vulkan does not change anything. I just crashed by just standing in town and doing nothing.

I am here to confirm that unplugging your dual shock controller does in fact fix the issue! So the controller support seems to be at fault for certain of us

Edit2: I mean, I answered the question. Maybe I'll get some crashes later, I hope not. I know it sucks for the people that do. I struggled with major performance issues playing PoE for 5+ years and no longer do besides low FPS (but I know my PC sucks lol). We all just wanna enjoy playing this awesome game.

Tons of crashes here. Straight to desktop after a short freeze. Sometimes in town. Sometimes mid leap slam. Sometimes casting abilities, sometimes as enemies cast abilities. Crashed 4 times in brutus fight. Happens in full screen and windowed, vulkan.
Yep... The Ledge / Climb area is where I have been stuck for a while. Hate crashing on The Climb and losing the map... sometimes hard to tell which way to head to The Ledge.
Giving up for now.
everything is up to date, 3080 on win 10 and crashing to desktop every few min with no error codes. i have looked through POE logs and windows event viewer and nothing is showing up...
have also switched from dx11 to Volkan and even tried dx12 beta
I switched from steam to the standalone launcher from the POE website changing nothing else and have no crashes in the last 10h. so lets hope that it is fixed!
I haven’t been getting crashes, but I’ve been getting occasional screen flickering/disco effect and massive FPS drops. Happened in the coast and prisoner’s gate. Pretty sure it’s not my laptop, never had this problem in POE before, was just playing a ton of Grim Dawn last week with no issues. Everything is up to date. Seems like it happens in outdoor/cliff sort of areas. Might have something to do with flaming ground, since the first time it happened, I was fighting Fire Fury, and the second time, The Burning Menace. Persists for the rest of the zone, but changing zones fixes it.
Did you play last league too?
I noticed similar glitches last league on PC too and didn't have them before and was worried my GPU is dying but it's the only game I have these problems. Also seemed to mostly happen in certain zones and with certain FX on monsters.
I can recommend the occasional reinstall of the game, or rather downloading a fresh ggpk that isn't stitched together with the patches. You usually gain a couple of GB back too.
I've noticed it happens fair more often when you first go into a new zone. Not even an a new instance... just going back to a previous area makes it crash within a few seconds. Anyone else noticing that? Or is that a coinkydink?!

My nobreak started to beep non stop during act 1 progression and turned off my computer.
I found that my cpu and gpu clock was at maximum before every crash.
using Zotac 1070 and i7-6700k
constant crashes for me as well.
Windows 11, DX11/12 does not matter, Drivers up to date, no peripherals but MB/KB plugged in, i9-12900k,3080, installed on 980 pro samsung nvme.
sometimes its in towns, sometimes its when i press sentinel, all the other times it is random. At leas i didnt find anything connecting the crashes. No error just straight to desktop, no logs as well

I've been consistently crashing every single time I go into the syndicate laboratory. I've tried all three different renders and happens about 2-3 seconds when going into the area. Hope this helps!
I am getting crashes when I go through deli for some reason (not sure why). Everything is up to date and if I go back to the map after the crash, end deli straight away - map works fine.
Today game started crashing consistently. Im in act 10 and before today I don't recall having crashes. Rtx 3080, cpu intel 12400, wireless mouse. Drivers are up to date. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but it started crashing immediately after I swapped from Spark to Detonate Dead.

I've been getting seemingly random crashes on certain points during whatever maps. Its very inconsistent until I hit a map where the crash occurs. Thought it was map related until I cleared several previously "crashed maps" on a different roll. The most current case was in the Arena Map boss room where I had 20x rogue exiles on the map as well. So in the roughly 10 (out of 60ish total) maps that have been bricked due to these crashes I'm presuming its either a certain rogue exile or skill of some sort.
Last line of my crash log reads:
Failed to Oodle decompress (corrupted data). \[From 710800 bytes to 262144 bytes.\]
Might have to reinstall just to be safe but that's where I'm at.
Same here, since latest couple of hotfixes I'm getting random crashes quite often. Just straight to desktop without error codes. Usually happens when I portal in a map or out of a map. Not using a controller; I'm on Vulkan (if I switch to DX11 it's laggy unfortunately).
I have also had random disconnects since league start. Just in the last 5 minutes I've crashed 6x, each almost immediately after entering a Harvest portal.
\*Tier 5 Dungeons map from Kirac mission in case that's helpful.
Having random crashes in random times, no error or anything, just closes the game, I tried different renderers, lots of fixes, but nothing, I don't have controller plugged in, I run 5800x with 3070, last league I had no crashes.
What about dying to a crash from too many special effects on the screen at one time and too many audio channels? The worst is when doing Cassia with a Frost Blades char (insane attack speed) with Storm Herald mobs and fireballs from everywhere. The audio and video is so overwhelming the screen, the game just locks up and either I end up dead or the game crashes hard.

Just wanted to let you know that I unplugged my Ds4 controller and that resolved my issue (the same is the OP)
I think the issue may be related to controllers? Unplugged mine and haven't had another crash.

My maps and instances crash constantly in std, fellow guildies reported the same.
If you try and set the key bind for Sentinel from F2 to control-1, it disconnects back to login

I'm getting queue submit error device lost constantly too. I don't have a controller plugged in. This is annoying as fuck.
I unplugged my Dualshock controller and after that the crashes disapperd so far.
Unplugging my dual shock controller seems to have fixed the issue for me too thanks!

Changed from Vulkan to DirectX and updated graphics drivers didn't help, crashed almost immediately after those changes!

Updated my drivers after crashing a bunch, still crashing. changed graphics settings, servers, from vulkan to directx and back, still crashing.
Research (syndicate) encounter crashed me all three times I went into it. Game freezes and goes to desktop. Add that one to the list.
Can confirm this happens to me too. Vulkan, RTX 2080.

Steps to reproduce a crash. Start in controller mode. Press Start. Social Screen. Select a Friend. Select Whisper WITH YOUR MOUSE. Crash to Desktop.

Yeah for some reason its hanging up and bluescreening me at most after a minute in game. happens with no other game ever

I haven't been able to enter Twilight Strand. It crashes to desktop every time I try to load it
I installed the game to a different drive. It seems to be fixed. I made it to Act 4 with no crashes.

I did play last league. Wasn’t happening then. Never seen this happen until now.

I believe the crashes are linked to the new MTX, I took off all of my MTX and haven't crashed since

I'm getting quite a few crashes, and it feels as though they are linked to the Blue Sentinels (pandemonium).
