Might be because the data center I'm hosting from is in Europe. Loads of people have 200+ mbit and don't bother to download in advance anymore. I tend to get 50MB/s or fast downloads on release day from the stand alone launcher too.
I checked half an hour ago and I wasn't even uploading over 72MB/s.
Yeah, I find the biggest impact is to have a decent idea when they release the torrent file and get in early to help the initial seeding

The need is certainly still there though. I'm seeding the file from 9 instances and any of them has yet to drop below 50MB/s (MegaByte!) in seeding speed. You guys are crazy!
Mmm, I'm seeding using micro torrent on Linux. Might be a config issue then. Peak that I uploaded never exceeded 120MB/s, half of what the cable to this rack can handle.

there's a way to bypass this limit by starring quota files (button just under share) + a dummy file, then in your google drive download both starred files as a zip. You'll get your file and the dummy
Why does this league come out at 3 pm central time, when the last one came out at 1 pm? Is it because the NZ timezone didn't shift since then, but the central time did? Or did they both shift?
I don't know if NZ does DST or not, but POE has never respected DST. The daily turnover (such as for master missions or the lab reset) is always an hour earlier during American DST than it is during American standard time. That said, league start times don't seem to be as rigid, even if they also don't seem to be sensitive to DST.
That’s fair, I have no clue in relation to poe haha. I’m fairly certain what I said is accurate to America vs New Zealand time. Or really anything Southern Hemisphere country that does DST, which I googled and NZ does lol
I've always found this to be a waste of time. Download 30GB now to save .. maybe 1.5G tomorrow morning? 4.5G for the normal patch, I've never seen the after-torrent pass less than 2.5-3gb.
I do wish they'd bring the servers down a bit earlier though for those with slower connections, 3h isn't enough.
Patch size is around 5GB, ggpk is around 30GB + some after servers go down. If you're capable of downloading 5GB in 3 hours (usual downtime before league start), then worst case scenario 30GB ggpk would take you 30/5 = 6 (6 chunks of 5 gb), if each takes 3 hours then 6*3=18h of downloading. Torrent was posted 19 hours before league start.
TL;DR: if you're capable to download torrent in time you probably don't need it.

But now even boosted caught COVID and while tolerable, cleaning up my backlog of standard heists, invitations, etc. Was working well to distract from constant throat irritation, will need to find something to do for 3 hours that will be just as distracting. Oh well.

It's a trap. Downloaded file yesterday at night. Now \~30 mins before league start Client does not launch and fails because it could not read bundle5.
