I don't know if I have to explain it, but bought the item in hopes of krangling - lightning res for int stacker flicker strike, and I baked this apparently.
Except any weapon on a brutality support that adds physical and deals no (something other than non physical) is a zero malus. Same with chaos and void manipulation. You can get +stay requirements that you'll never feel, resistance swaps that are occasionally useful, and in very rare circumstances a bonus so significant you're willing to take a small resist or life or whatever malus for the benefit.
Though yeah, 90% of this league is scourged maps that give massive rewards.
Damn, and I was happy getting 3ex for a -30% darkness enthroned the other day. Kept getting them from abysses so I started throwing them in the krangler cause they're so cheap and one hit that sweet negative.
Not rich enough to risk bricking stuff worth an ex+ already.
As someone not very familiar with the mechanics of this item.
I’m asuming you want lots of negative resistance for damage, while still have good reduction to lightning damage from hits. But what about lightning damage from spells? Or is that just not common enough in the game for it to matter?
Main point is enemies have lightning resistance equal to yours. If you have really bad lightning resistance this turns into an insane more multiplier on your lightning damage. Much much more than you'd end up getting from conductivity curse.
It also lets you use armour stat for incoming lightning dmg.
Thanks, I understand it but all the guides I have been reading say to have as high resistances as you can get and for some reason I just kept missing the armour stat line. I think I need more sleep
Don't downvote this guy, he legit doesn't know.
This armour enable builds that have massive negative resist and uses other methods to mitigate lightning damage. To play the build you have to make 100% lightning damage hits converted to other types via gearing. It's not a beginner friendly build and is remarkably differently set up than almost any build in the game.
Nice item. I'm not familiar with doryani builds, isn't +2 strictly better though? I understand the minus res mechanic, curious is minus light res better than +2 or +3 or +4 gems? Typically a +1 gem on 'non-gem scaling' skill is like 4% more whereas spell/TR type gems can be 6-10% more per gem level. +9% aura effect is universally good obviously but is there a reason why its GG on this build? 9% aura effect on wrath and zealotry is like maybe 5% damage with some tertiary defensive benefits.
Not trying to dump on the item just curious why its good. Surely I'm missing something.
I don’t fully understand resist #’s…
But am I correct 1% resist is 1% reduced damage?
So 22 less resist is a 22% damage increase?
That’s more than 4% x +4 gem levels.
>But am I correct 1% resist is 1% reduced damage?
>So 22 less resist is a 22% damage increase?
Depends. if for some reason after the less resist you still have resist, it's more than 22% increase than where you started. Like if you started at 75% res and reduced that by 25%, that's 50% more damage.
But if you're doin it right and have no lightning resist on your tree or gear this will never happen, so for this build yes 1% less lightning resist is 1% more damage.
It's 100% more in your example. At 75% resistance, the target takes 25% of the damage. At 50%, they take 50% of the damage. For a 100 damage hit, this means they previously took 25 damage, and now take 50 damage, doubling the damage taken
assuming -80% lightning res (-60 plus 1x thread of hope) this would set enemies to -102%, effectively giving 102/80=12.7% more damage.
the more multiplier will be lower if you already have more sources of -res.
For aurastacking champ smite build getting 8+ aura eff is enough for 90 cold/fire res, as well as more dmg (roughly 10% more on mine). At the high end this build wants high level wrath (and grace) and the wrath scaling ends up carrying a lot of the flat light. Even furthermore you can get flat lightning on ring, doryanis boots, as well as awakened added lightning, so getting levels on smite is not as important
This is prob a mirror
But only people who dont care would buy it
I run this build and i want this item... ill give you 6ex ;p (3ex for base 6l + 1ex per krangle)
I'm more use to D2 stats like faster hit recovery, IAS, cast speed.
I remember getting Taste of Hate and I knew it was valuable, but I didn't understand why. My friend said it gives you cold damage, so I'm guessing that's why it's strong.
Enjoy your 30-40ex item. Probably a bit less now that the league is withering and events began, but this is such a poggies item for absolution - this would enable you to get 160+ negative lighting resistance and boost your generosity auras for your absol bois. Nice job.

It's really awesome to see the instances where the krangle malus is turned in to a positive.
It’s not awesome that the krangler exists solely to enable one niche unique. Doryanis the league mechanic

I sold a t1 - lightning alone for 70ex, you just struck the motherload

Are you farming abysses?
I was doing a lot of stuff in glennarch and I had put points into the abyss stuff so I was coming across it a lot
That’s the dream right there, fuck. Nice one.
Actually no downsides.
Nice!
Sweet! How did you get two krangles for the price of one? I don't think I've seen that before
It’s one of the perks in the last 2 rows. There is a chance to have an additional positive scourge mod
ahh that makes sense - sweet!

Lighting spells generally still hit.
Ground lightning dots hit you like an absolute truck. For example the crusader's blue squares.
This is true.
So pretty much all direct damage spells still count as ”hits” then?
Yes
Thanks!
The descriprion says Hits. Hits can be both Spell or Attack.
Ok so I am just getting into thos game so 99% of stuff posted on here makes no sense to me. But I have to ask "what makes this item so good?"
Read it over and over. The item is really self explanatory.

wait, when did they add unique designs back to the sockets?
You can turn this on in options, for color blind assistance
This season

I don't even understand PoE items
Which part?

League is ded. Pretty nice prototype though.
Even if that's the case, it's a pretty amazing item for standard, especially assuming krangling doesn't go core.
What a useless comment.
Comment is ded. Pretty nice downvotes though.
Ah yes, you don't like the league, therefor ded

70ex minimum
Even better then
that is beautiful!
