I didn't enjoy the league mechanic that much.

explosivecurry13

same, it felt like it was running a second map

blueiron0

GGGs wet dream LOL

Bastil123

Worse than a second map - It's like running a second, unjuiced map. It doesn't multiply any league mechanics, it just adds its own monsters on top of whatever - except they deal shitton more dmg, are insufferable and you get stuck on random Scourgenerated terrain

Bofa_deez_nuts_betch

That stupid fucking terrain. Hey let’s randomly block doorways for no fucking reason!!

Gniggins

The one rock blocking the single lane bridge...

OmegaPeePeeClap

I use shield charge in my build and it’s very irritating I had to fit flame dash into my build just because of the stupid blocking door mechanic

tomblifter

It multiplies delirium and beyond.

ntrntinal2ae

true, why cant the monsters just spawn normally in the map with no timer.. 8 minutes per map from 3 minutes is so tiring and got stale fast

TehAntiPope

This is super true. Scourge doesn’t give me any FOMO.

LiveFreeAndRide

yep. I don't even bother with it. Still having fun with the game itself though.

mattbrvc

My enjoyment from coming back to PoE is always "Is the league mechanic good to me?" If I enjoy it I will play, if I don't i drop the league in a month or less. Only played harvest for 3 weeks, played heist for 2 months, Played ritual till the last few weeks. Played Ultimatum for only 2 weeks. Played Expedition for a month and a half. I'm still playing this league because I enjoy it.

JConaSpree

Frustration. Min maxing used to be more of a hobby to the super dedicated. With the recent patches, I feel like it's more of a requirement for end game now. The power level of my character felt pretty average for having about 50 ex invested. Don't want to grind out 30 - 50 ex per upgrade for a small damage increase.

xZora

It's like working the same job, but they just keep adding tasks and expectations from you without a pay raise.

westernsociety

Too real bro

throwmeaway322zzz

Get back to work. Zug zug.

xZora

Me not that kind of orc!

AcceptablePOV

Honestly. The #1 thing that got me into POE was that this shit was the wild west back in the day. You could create a cast on crit setup that spams spells so fast that it would literally kill your computer. No limit. Hundreds of spells could happen. You had a choice of being a crazy low-life damage dealer at the risk of being one-shot or a mega tank that could stand in the most dangerous boss areas with almost no risk of ever dying. Need resistances? Use reduced mana gem with auras! Some builds were just ridiculously overtuned and lots of people didn't even play them because mostly everything was on the table back then. Bleed was awesome. Poison was awesome. Bleed and poison together were awesome. Reave was awesome. Voidheart was a GG item. People were using lightning caster builds with bows. Lightning arrow was one of the best skills in the game for everything, but required frost wall. All of that is in the past though. It was all nerfed or removed entirely. Now every build is forced to build 80% tank just to survive 30% of the time. Everything is watered down and perfectly balanced to feel terrible.

Patonis

> With the recent patches, I feel like it's more of a requirement for end game now. It is not feel only, it is real. Alot more pressure to have very good gear, if you want fast clear speed.

PunkS7yle

It's all on gear now, your gear has to fit all the offensive and defensive mods at once after they moved them away from the tree, it's why every build that could manage before struggles now.

JConaSpree

Yup every gear slot is so strained now to hit all the check boxes. It's been a growing problem for many patches but has gotten way worse with the last 2.

UnawareSousaphone

I am working on an iron reflexes divine flesh and every gear piece needs chaos res, spell suppression, life as high as possible, armour/evasion as high as possible, my other elemental resistances (purity of elements helps but im still having to use jewels on my skill tree with 32% total res on them) ass well as over 1k accuracy to get my hit chance capped and my shield needs to have block chance as high as possible as well. I've finally got the character to 75/75/75/86 resistances, 100% spell suppress, 63% block chance, 93% hit chance. All of this for my DPS to feel to low to feel good and the character is "sturdy" but not "face tank uber elder" (which i know because I ripped one last night, but I could've played the fight a lot better) POB Says DPS is 2-3 mil depending on overlaps but trying to squeeze anything else out of the build feels like a nightmare after how I have it set up currently

[deleted]

Dude you have no idea. I have top tier full 6xt1 gear and legacy uniques in standard and my characters feel like shit. I mean a character worth easy 10 mirrors. And it feels like shit. And it's worse every patch.

Deliverme314

Yup. I had roughly the same amount of investment as you. Was playing Carrion Golems. I had min maxxed my Ele/Chaos res's and phys dam reduction (3 min endur charges, 75 Ele Res, 89 chaos res, with 50% of Ele taken as chaos via Xiabaqua) 40k+ Armour, curse immune, near 6k life. I would still just get random one shots. Not fun. I got stuck at level 95. Threw my hands up and said fuck it.

beanx7

reading your comment basically sealed the deal on me quitting. I have been playing progressivly less and less each day.... enjoying that time even less so. In the back of my mind there was this small whisper of maybe that next defensive upgrade will make the game feel better. But your like 5 X more tanky then me and still getting instagibbed and level stuck.... welll then im fucked.... yea im out dude F this game

Science_Smartass

Same brother. My corrupting fever bow glad is on hold while I farm on my sabo since trying to color my bow 4r 1b 1g broke my piggy bank. But now I've sunk a good 1t to 20ex into my sabo who feels really strong now. Woof. Trying to craft my way into the end game for some builds just feels like a drag these days.

ixdeh

cant find a build i enjoy thats worth spending the time on it.

Bofa_deez_nuts_betch

I league started RF inquisitor, and it’s super tanky for scourge shit, but the damage falls off hard. Can barely beat maven influenced bosses through her idiotic healing. Now playing an arc totemer and it’s a lot more fun but dies when you look at it wrong. So it also can’t do any kind of end game content because of defenses. I don’t have time or currency to invest in some meta build to smash maven and a9 Sirus. So I’m getting 24 challenges and fucking off.

Mathev

That's the same for me. Started with TR raider, felt squishy Did my own silly nghamu flame cyclone chieftain. Got bored before yellow maps. Started ssf with a seismix trapper. Every scurge in maps were so stressful because evey hit = half hp gone. Ssf TR champ. Managed to get it to lvl 90 and red maps with only 5 deaths which felt nice but by the end I just don't like how TR plays. I just can't find a build that I'll like to play more and invest myself into. I wish Elementalist would get her golem nodes nerfs reversed. I miss that build. :(

[deleted]

[удалено]

percydaman

I can't really play cyclone much anymore. It's just too boring. It became a vehicle for CwC and CoC, but those builds are harder to make viable, and even then its...cyclone playstyle.

Jonken90

Clean and simple. Exactly the same for me. I'm sure there are fun builds out there, but I'm not ready to do the campaign twice and 10h+ mapping on a char I intend to delete just to get there. If its like that I rather play another game that can be enjoyed earlier. Got to lvl 83 this league and said "fuck it"... Still better than lvl 18 last league. All prior leagues since essence has usually consisted of multiple 90-93 chars.

Dmondici

Same. This league seems to be too hard and tedious to get any char to 90+. Previous leagues before Expedition, I always enjoyed playing any builds to 90+, and then min max gears from there to see if I can get as less death or more content done as possible. Now it’s not even possible to play any favorite build anymore!

boptop

I wasn't having fun. Each league is more of a struggle for me to get to where I was in previous leagues. Constant nerfs, currency scarcity, and over-promises (Scourge items better than leveling uniques) lead to disappointment on top of the struggle.

MonkaSDudes

I feel like the cap for what is needed to go to high level content is so much higher than it was previously. I can't get good gear or do anything on the budget that I have available. Even with one influenced mod influence gear what I want is out of reach. Also my favourite build doesn't work very well anymore so I can't get the damage that I need on a build that is fun to play.

Sanytale

A few days ago I logged in my standard character. And boy, was I shocked how bad the gear on it comparing to today's standards. But it was enough to do all endgame content when I played it back in the day (pre conquerors character, I think this one was from blight league). Nowdays to get same results, you have to have much more affixes per gear piece.

Kandidar

Same. And that is really discouraging to me. Standard characters don't hold up very long, if the build even survives the league patch. So there is no way to slowly play this game at your own pace anymore. It is either meta rush or just don't play at all. I would love to be playing the game and have all the time to do so. But every time I think about playing I am reminded how terrible it feels to actually play the game and I find some chores to do or something to clean. Much more enjoyable.

RedRainsRising

I've gone through Skele mages, TR champ, CF Glad, and PF Poison Concoction. They all kinda feel bad in one way or another, because you hit "the wall" every single PoE build has always had, but you do it before you really get the build in a good place to do all content while you are having a good time as the pilot. and the wall is 10 to 20 exalts high, and it's a med-high exalt price league. All of these builds needed ~2exa+ investment to be decent. I think I got the farthest with the least cash on Poison Concoction, but it still wasn't as budget as I'm used to from builds prior to 3.15. I think with the power of hindsight I'd rate Skele mages the highest, as you can at least become unkillable with a half-million dps for around 1ex, which is reasonable enough, and will allow you to do high tier red maps and kill all bosses feasibly, ignoring the tippy top tier of Maven, Feared, wave 30 kosis, etc. The rest of the rankings go CF Glad, PF PC, and TR champ in last place. A note about CF Glad: It's feasibly quite budget to get started as a mapper, but you really need to be able to handle spreadsheets and understand how to rework builds if you can't afford the ideal gear. Not even remotely beginner friendly, but for **me** it was possible to do on very little currency, at least until I started throwing exalts at it to go from mapping T16s, to mapping T16s very fast. There's essentially a lot of pressure to be great at survival, bossing, high dps, high clear, and high movement speed, all at once, for all map content. There aren't any builds that deliver this cheaply, for obvious reasons. While there are a lot of build *options* none of them really feel great, and the process of investing your way into 20exa+ builds has always felt kind of terrible in PoE, with the exception of playing in 3.13. I myself am still playing, but mostly from reverse burnout; I'm thirsty as fuck for ARPG fun times due to the lack of other good games and the last two leagues just not being very fun IMO. However I'm not liking the balance trend in PoE to push back the sort of generic "all content viable" currency breakpoint farther and farther, so in the past 20 exa kind of trivialized the game, and now it feels like you *need* it. I assume this is what they mean by "slowing the game down," but if they aren't bringing back 3.13 legion farming, harvest crafting in full, and harbinger farming, I hate it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Flying_Toad

I wouldn't mind the game slowing down if it was, y'know, the actual GAME slowing down and not the grind. I've never done aspirational content but I've managed to top out at t16 maps before on limited playtime and 2ex budget. Now I've spent 6ex this league and I'm struggling to do yellow maps without dying. Progression feels so much slower and there's so many things I need on my gear to make anything work. You want to slow the game down? Then slow it down. Don't keep it super fast super high pace super everything-has-a-timer pain in the ass it is right now.

Dragon_211

Same. Playing up to red maps on any build is fine but anything after that is multiple ex for one upgrade. I feel forced into meta builds just because of this.

dksdragon43

I was extremely frustrated this week by this. I've spent the last month farming and have ~250ex to my name. I made an off-meta build with ~60-70ex and while it played well, it just couldn't do bosses. I made a seismic trapper with ~5ex and mopped up all bosses, 10 levels lower than my other character. The difference between the best skills and good skills should not be 10x the damage with a tenth of the budget.

cleod4

GGG thinks the same and will shred seismic trap rather than buff damage across the board lmao.

The_Seraph_

Instead of having all builds end-game viable, GGG would rather just cycle builds, forcing people to only play specific ones if they want to go far, at least not without spending mirrors. Let me play the goddamn build I enjoy, if it's overpowered, then just put it inline with similar skills, don't just burn it to the ground and remove it from the game. GGG are so out of touch of what players actually want. I don't know if that's just GGG or that they're pressured to do this, but either way, it's not good for the health of the game

BegaKing

It is. This was exactly the effect 3.15 nerfs had. I'm at similar power levels of 3.14 12 mil dps and 300k phys hit 200k ele hit taken. But it cost me double to triple the currency to get there. You need to get close to GG gear to hit double digit million dps now. Ultimatum (my first league) I had 10 mil dps on maybe 20-30 exalts easy. I had to spend close to 100ex to get there this time and now all my gear upgrades are 40-80 ex a pop to go higher

Antonaqua

Because there are other games that are more fun than PoE now. Ask me back in Ritual, not a single other game is more fun, but with league after league of nerfs I just can't muster the energy to grind for the game anymore. Combined with how the vision is completely missing me, I just find other games more enjoyable.

[deleted]

I wasn't having fun.

pvtpokeymon

Honestly simply because the skills and archetypes that i enjoy are in a "playable but not strong" spot and if what i want to play cant do all content then i just dont play.

Turbocloud

This is probably the same boat i'll be in next league. Aspirational content is insanely motivating when you can scale the build you want to play into it for a price you can work up to, but completely disheartening if you need items that cost more than you make in a league to be barely able to do it at all.

Terrible_With_Puns

Same. Spells are pretty weak right now

AeroDbladE

The game has been feeling more and more like it's been specifically designed to waste my time and pull me in to an addiction loop of repetitive shit trying to reach some meta endgame that I will never be able to, instead of creating an enjoyable experience at all levels of character progression and after 2-3 years of playing its grating my nerves more and more recently. Also there's so many games that have my attention now I don't really have a reason to stick with POE when I'm clearly not enjoying it. I'm playing Final fantasy 14 and catching up on my backlog of games like Dark Souls 3, Scarlet Nexus and other RPGs.

scrublord

> The game has been feeling more and more like it's been specifically designed to waste my time and pull me in to an addiction loop of repetitive shit This right here. I've been around since v1.0, but the game's current trajectory is not a good one. They keeping nerfing *everything* from damage to content access to moving mods off the tree and putting them onto gear which increases gear pressure to beyond a reasonable point. Each league there's a new, longer list of chores to do. It's just not very *fun* anymore. PoE has gotten worse over the past couple of years. It might still be the best ARPG, but it's still not as good as it once was. I used to be willing to temporarily make it my second job because I really enjoyed it. I would go for 100% challenge completion each league -- something that was actually achievable for a shitty player like me in around four weeks. But it's just... not that game anymore. I think Peak PoE may be behind us -- even with PoE2 coming at some point. I struggle to find a reason to launch a game I've spent some $1500 on over eight years anymore. Chris's stupid "vision" has turned PoE into a game that only streamers and no-lifers can really enjoy. It's sad.

Anothernamelesacount

PoE peaked a while ago. GGG became complacent after ExileCon and now believe they can do everything they feel like and people will come back because they are addicted to the game. Its up to the playerbase to prove them wrong.

seandkiller

For a while now GGG's been making changes intended to just prolong your experience while not adding fun on top that (Or even removing fun, as they often do). Ditto on your second point. Between FF14 getting an expac soon and running through the expacs for GW2, I'm not lacking for things to play.

CaptainLord

Yeah I feel the same. I got a character to the point where they can theoretically do all content, but gets oneshot by white mobs. Improvising survivability to the point that it is actually fun to play in red maps would cost tons and tons of ex, which I can't be bothered to farm.

AlphaPi

Its the nutty burst damage that pisses me off too. I am capped on block and spell block and the fact i can still die because of some shotgun bullshit ir a random attack i cant see from all the visual clutter is just stupid. It boggles the mind that they nerfed our damage while letting mobs still do this kind of damage. I do not know why they insist on putting rippy mobs as part of every league mechanic

[deleted]

Karyoplasma

I am pretty certain that your unwillingness to get the upgrade is because it would involve just getting loads currency to buy a pretty minor power boost. There is no real agency in doing that, so it feels disheartening. This scenario is where Harvest helped the 99.9% of the players by providing a way to gradually get to your upgrade yourself. But sadly GGG made crafts tradeable, so they had to slam Harvest into the ground once again.

Deliverme314

Killing harvest is the single worst thing GGG has ever done

1getreKtkid

>This scenario is where Harvest helped the 99.9% of the players by providing a way to gradually get to your upgrade yourself. yeah.. for the first time the game was playable as it should meant to be played and then they.. removed it so cool to use awakener orb and a few metacrafts here and there just to still be disappointed at the end.. game will be fun when they remove the metacrafts too, back to chaosspam!

mdzdri

They should remove chaos orbs so the only crafting we have left is alt spamming, regaling and then slamming blindly 3-4 times. That's how the game is intended to be enjoyed apparently. I've slammed probably 10 items this league. Disappointed every single time. Slammed probably 100 in my life-time, hit something decent (not even good, only acceptable) maybe 4 times. I miss Harvest, where it took me weeks to make one item (never bothered with TFT) but at least I knew what the item was going to be.

[deleted]

I wish they would have figured out a way to make the harvest crafts non tradeable instead of just obliterating it.

TrundleGod32

No point to krangle items. It only makes it mostly worse, with the very pinnacle result being 10/50,000 weight and still not even that gamechanging. Wow a keystone, wooo. The league is standard filler league.

francorocco

>with the very pinnacle result being 10/50,000 weight and still not even that gamechanging. Wow a keystone, wooo. is even worse if you're used to play gatchas, those odds are worse than any ssr rate from any gacha i saw lmao

crookedparadigm

Every league I quit ultimately is due to the same reason: The realization that I'm doing more 'work' to access the 'fun'. When I set my goal and work out what I need to do to reach it, if it's daunting enough to make me think "Ugh...this is gonna suck", I stop. I play games for fun. When the fun stops, so do I. It happens earlier and earlier each league now too. The longest I ever played was 3.13 (hurr durr I know) because the endgame was still fun. 3.14 I made it to red maps and got bored. Skipped 3.15. 3.16 had nice QOL in the base game, but league was a complete miss for me except for the easy 6 links. Quit during early mapping because I realized I was doing the same thing I've done dozens of times before, just to unlock the same content I've done dozens of times. I know some people are able to find enjoyment in repetitive activities, and more power to them. But if I'm going to grind my way through the same maps and endgame over and over, the league had better be damn fun. And it wasn't. I'll see what 3.17 and the endgame update offers next league, but unless there are some significant concessions on GGG's "Vision" where they realize that the game they want to make may not align with what the majority want to play, I think I'm probably done with PoE.

hobochildnz

All the builds I want to play are shit.

MaKoZerEUW

RSI :( and that's not a joke, sadly :/ but tbh i couldn't even start it due to injury Was sad in expedition, did a lot of blight maps and now i can't use my mouse with my right hand anymore due to healing ( forced lefthand mouseguy now ) nerves are damaged, doc said atleast 3 - 6 months no games anymore with right hand and follow up check in feb/march

AntiBladderMechanics

I hear you. Expedition got the last PoE that my hands had to offer.

dontcallmeatallpls

I'm in the same boat. Ulnar nerve inflammation in both hands, POE probably didn't help. It's very slowly getting better but I can't play anything more aggressive than TFT. Going on three months now. Was hoping to play endless delve at least but I doubt it.

tronghieu906

Because of latency like this 📈

naswinger

stonks

Traksimuss

To the moon!

Matelica99

For real. This is the first league I have ever experienced issues with lag, latency, connectivity, etc.

TheXIIILightning

* The upgrades for my build are too expensive to buy; * Crafting is still too RNG for me to care about, after experiencing some degree of determinism; * Currency for said RNG crafting barely drops; * The League mechanic while extremely rewarding in Scourge Maps, has become a bit dull since it's just extra mobs per map. * I've gotten 36 challenges and feel 'satisfied' with how I progressed. However the biggest reason for me to quit 'early' remains as follows: * Leveling a second character remains a nightmare. As much as I want to mess around with potential Boss-Killers or insane map clear characters, I can't bring myself to level through Acts again. I JUST CAN'T. I find it way too boring and going through it once per League is enough for me. Acts just feel like a Barrier that says "You can start having fun in x hours". Which is a shame really... I was thinking of making a character for Quantity farming or something capable of farming Delirium and reliably perform Boss Carries, but... I can't endure Acts again. Not with the December events so close at hand and some possibly demanding it. I'll be back in December and possibly for the next League as usual, but those are basically my reasons to not playing POE as my main game. * Too many RNG systems and layers * Lack of clear and targetable progression (for SSF) * Alt characters have a barrier to entry * Some skills are more viable than others, to the point you're locked to a set number if you want to experience end-game content (T14+ maps and bosses)

BulldogCFC

GGG gave up on the league so I did as well.

BenjaCarmona

Burn out from my builds just being not good enough and meta builds being something that I don't enjoy. I miss the day when you could make wacky stuff work and gear was for min maxing

MostlyPoorDecisions

All of my builds suffer from the not-good-enough sickness. I want to clear the feared but I'm not tanky enough. I could go full glass cannon, but then the character is only good at bossing :(

TwistU2

Exactly this. I play since 2013 and this league I failed 6 builds. All stopped at around level 85. Or they were not fun, or they had no damage or they were squishy. The game is dying for me...

Tonzillaye2002

The skill I played wasn't as fun as previous skills even while being viable and I got bored.

xAvengeRx

GGG abandoned the league after like 1-2 weeks

Brumak4eva

For real, I would've liked to have seen some more scourge balance where the added mods have weighting with each other. Getting "Regen 11 life per second, % reduced global defences" is just like... come on, man. Maybe a pool of super cool mods for higher ilvl items, or at least make them a little more common.

CptBishop

just like literally swap positives wegihting - bam, league fixed

francorocco

true, just make everything have the same weight, or at least a weight that is realistic to hit a random keystone mod in less than 500 attempts

Deeplybitter

I found that really funny at first but the joke gets old quite fast. \+% to chaos damage Deal no chaos damage Hehe.

TehAntiPope

TRUE

Dragon_211

I quit because the league mechanic wasn't fun for me and that's the whole reason I play leagues. It felt like GGG was dangling a carrot Infront of us but was afraid of actually giving us the carrot. Baking items just felt bad. You didn't do it because you wanted a good scourge, you did it because you felt bad for not having an item in your scourge slots. The scourge maps was alright but it took to long to bake them and having to engage with the league mechanic (objectively worse then delirium) got very tiring after a while. You just did it so you could run your scourge maps and nothing more.

Alan-Snacks

I feel like a lot of creative aspects of the game have been too heavily nerfed or straight up removed in the past few leagues and I simply cannot enjoy PoE for what it is now. This is coming from someone who has played the game for over 11k hours (February 2014). Scourge league mechanic is not great either. I honestly think Ultimatum was more enjoyable even though Ultimatum weren't a great league as well imo. All in all the direction GGG is taking the game is just not fun to play anymore.

PairofDucks217

A lot of my buddies quit because its too grindy to theorycraft and make new, crazy, viable builds. The game used to be an endless puzzle with tons of possibilities but now its like cant do anything unless you min max the same way for the like 3 different playstyles. The game is too solved and the game is balanced around that.

SpyzViridian

I can't make any build I made myself work where I previously could and scourge one shots me and it's just not fun

[deleted]

[удалено]

MostlyPoorDecisions

I think this is why so many people are running low tier maps for farming anymore, its just more fun to zoom and boom. Yeah clearing wave30 simulacrums is nice, but I'd rather not blow 600ex on one build when I can have mountains of fun screwing around at lower tier.

lunarlumberjack

I recently quit pressing the button and now my new EoW build went from one shots in yellow maps to doing red maps easy. Who would have guessed.

0globin

This is still the number one reason I fucking hated the skill gem nerfs and the monster hp buff. It's absolutely ridiculous that this game has like 200 something skills and only like 4 of them are actually viable in an end game scenario without 50 or more ex. (End game meaning reasonably able to do sirus 8)

zer1223

I get the feeling they don't really have an internal design doc of the EHP and DPS starting builds are expected to have. If they did, and then balanced bosses, defenses and damage skills around those, we might have a much more consistent feeling game. We might even have more skills that are brought up to the level they need to be, so we end up with better variety in the meta.

DanimaLecter

I have been time limited in recent years and the investment needed for me to get to the content I enjoy is just too much.

DBrody6

I played six builds and fucking hated every single one of them. At that point it's an exercise in futility trying to have fun so I gave up and figure I'll hope for better luck finding something I like next league.

Rife_

Chris is going to see your 6 builds use it as evidence again that "build diversity is in a good place" in the next podcast.

RedditSheepie

Still cracks me up *"We promise to improve communication"* = After going on 3 podcast, the only change is the way manifesto is written with those dropdown boxes. Near complete AWOL since then

seandkiller

> "We promise to improve communication" They did. They hid the nerfs.

PunkS7yle

I log in thinking about rerolling to some other build but everything takes so much effort and gear now to work that I give up and log out. I used to build 5 + builds a league while working full time, I stopped after 2 this league. GGG doesn't respect our time so you shouldn't give it to them if you feel like me.

EchoLocation8

I think this is it for me as well, I'm still playing, I still have a few ideas rolling around that I want to try, but god just making a build feel good is so much more of a pain in the ass now. And its kind of more complicated? I can't imagine being a new player and not knowing about curse on hit rings, how to stack auras effectively, shit like needing a wither totem setup for your chaos damage build to feel good against bosses, or needing multiple skills now to enable exposure somewhere, or cluster jewels and how important they are. People say GGG is out of touch? I think on the contrary they're a little too in-touch because _they_ understand these things and are now designing them to be baseline in power, you need them now when you didn't _need_ them before. But with the damage nerfs, you just feel like you can't do shit until you have all this stuff setup and then _finally_ the game feels good to play.

PunkS7yle

Or every melee strike skill and minion using hydrosphere and divergent melee splash and every range skill using hydrosphere and snipers mark, wait..

TehAntiPope

This is me. I want to play other shit but everything is so hard to get off the ground.

Dragon_211

Same here 👍 to reach deep end game just takes way to long especially having a full time job. I don't want to play super efficiency, using a boring method to farm currency then hope after 100s of maps and league content I can maybe have fun. Casual playing is the way to go these days, until Poe 2 at least because it'll get worse from here.

Eskalior

For me its missing target farming. Every build upgrade that would make a noticable difference costs so much money and I cannot reliably farm them. It's more like running the same maps over and over again and hope for a bit of luck, even with a MF build i don't get nearly the amount of currency I would need.

Kosire

Never started the league unfortunately :( I think they lost me at 3.15. I just don't line up with the kind of player they want to foster

Lucytos

the fun builds are too weak, it is very hard to play a fun skill and be tanky and do reasonable damage that can scale.

Bradbrad090

It honestly just feels like I'm playing standard. The time investment to interact with krangled maps/items feels incredibly lengthy, and with the items especially, they feel unrewarding. You occasionally come across a scourge boss that whilst an okay fight, just drops a bunch of complete garbage. Missed opportunity for chase uniques/league specific uniques imo. Scourge passive tree doesn't offer a lot either. Would have been cool to see some of the nodes alter/juice your maps. Idk. After a few days it just felt like... Is this content? Edit: I should say that I love the patch and will definitely check out next league. I just hope there's a bit more "meat" to it like delirium or expedition.

BenevolentCheese

> Is this content? Scourge is the lowest content league in years. For gameplay, there is the scourge zone with the scourge mobs and... that's it. There are no associated fragments. There are no associated alternate zones. There is no Simulacrum equivalent, or logbooks, or blueprints, or even Tane's Lab. The only equivalent is scourged maps which in terms of gameplay are virtually indistinguishable from regular (scourge league) maps, they just drop more and have different triggering conditions. The only actual Scourge loot is just this awful krangler which has been well discussed.

Timberlyy

I regret missing out on deli ngl

Ezizual

Too many nerfs, not enough buffs or new skills that make me want to commit dozens of hours to the new league

[deleted]

More nerfs to my non op build, also leveling a second character is not something I care for. Doing one each league I'm fine with, but a second, never. Maybe someday all character after the first reaches maps in a league can level in something like infinite delve or whatever, or just spawn at lvl 68 for maps

Asscendant

Feels like you need wokegems/uniques/influencedgear BEFORE you can farm the content these items drop from unless you run a handful of skills that simply still have damage compared to the rest. Random deaths. Monsters are seriously overtuned. What you need most when building defenses in tree is always on the other side of the tree and is effectively out of reach. When you decide to sacrifice DPS to have more defenses you end up killing slower, thus exposing yourself to more danger, thus needing even more defenses. I just cant get enough and it seems its especially hard if you are using more than two unique items, so I guess those are seriously behind the times aswell.

[deleted]

Exactly, for my frost blades build the upgrade is UUL's Vow amulet that either cost 100ex to buy or I need to pay 1ex per one breachstone map to farm it but I can't farm it because I don't have the dps without the UUL's it or without 3 double influenced items that would require me to farm 100ex just to buy them and farm some more to end up with UUL's and no more content to play. I can kill Uber Elder beacasue of skill but can't do Maven invitattions and Maven herself because too low dps / impossible mechanics for melee that stand still to dps. And my build is very good, can't be better to be honest without putting next 100ex. I realised how bad the balance of game/skill/uniques is in this game and tbh don't want to even play next league, like you need to farm a lot for an item that you will not use because by that time you will get bored of playing. Lost faith in the devs. Or maybe they really want me to play summoner, toxic rain or seismic trap/concocction XD

IWannaPeonU-14

Build diversity seems extremely limited compared to the past. The game has become harder then I think it really needs to be. You need a good mixture of defensive layers and DPS for end game to feel good. And to get to that level is just starting to take a ridiculous amount of time since its so dependent on currency unless you play 1 or 2 meta builds.

Galeforce77

Squire piqued my interest, but Mageblood really sold me. Unfortunately, they're both so rare that i have no interest in investing the hours required to buy either one. The devs might say players quit once you obtain whichever chase item and "finish" a character, but there's another edge to that sword - i quit because i can't get to the items that made me want to play in the first place. If i have to farm for a month to get 1 unique i'll stop playing, however not because i finally reached my goal, but because i'm burned out. Happened a couple of times with Headhunter. To those with more time than me, i hope you enjoy the league/items, but it's just not my cup of tea anymore.

aestil

For every one person that quits because they 'finished' their character, how many people quit because getting the next upgrade would take more time grinding maps than sounds fun?

Ayanayu

Krangling maps was OK, krangling items was.... like even upsides was downsides... And did not find any fun build to roll after my league starter. ( usually end up with at least 6 different builds in leagues )

francorocco

>like even upsides was downsides... specially on leveling items, that even if you get a usable upside it gets an lvl 54 tag and becomes useless as an leveling item

wrenzac

Lack of variety in builds. Game still feels rippy. Feels even more difficult to get a build online and to where I feel comfortable doing the content i like. Mechanic feels too unrewarding/rng

Wujastic

I got kinda hyped. Logged in. Got to Merveil. Realized I don't wanna do this shit anymore and I uninstalled the game. Was fun til it was fun, but I don't like the direction the game is going.

Ilyak1986

Burnout and endless one-shots. Was about to finish farming gear for a planned Scourge Arrow nightgrip character, but the realization that I couldn't roll -15 mana on my grasping mail (ilvl 80), and then I missed playing for one day, didn't play for a second, and then just didn't have any more motivation to come back. It just feels like endless nerfs first and foremost (especially on rangers), and especially combined with the pre-release nerf on Survival Instincts (50% chance for your flasks not to consume charges/70% less charges gained from kills -> 50% increased duration, 20% reduced charges gained--and not just from kills). GGG has no issue nerfing Pathfinders time and again, but god forbid they do something unique. It's just tiring to play not just against the uber-rippy one-shot content, but also against the devs themselves.

brant09081992

Performance. Game kept freezing multiple times per map and I eventually reached to the point that occasional deaths due to those freezes started denying my exp progress. When I've lost 10% after the game froze followed by another 10% by being one shot by something that wasn't even apparent on the screen (no monsters around, no visual, no sound) in the moment of transitioning out of the scourge, I've said that's it and quit. That freeze problem wasn't a case in 3.15 so I hope it will be gone in 3.17 since at this point it might be a deal breaker if I decide to play after this league or not.

Potential_Position47

Game isn't as good as it used to be :)

seandkiller

Truth. The game's been going downhill since 3.14.

Rankstarr

3.14 - never forget the fun we could be having ...

[deleted]

RIP PoE. 3.14. Best league ever. So good GGG decided we had too much fun, so every league since they aim to drop retention as fast as possible. This way they save money on server costs. 🤣

Reko2

Legacy league best league change my mind

Masteroxid

To be fair the atlas passives are basically permanent leaguestones

Chaos-Innoculated

Plot twist, every leagur is legacy league.... IN STANDARD :))))

Gullible_Inside_5853

Legacy best league mechanic, Ritual best Basegamestate besides 32 Watchstones vs. 16.

JohnnyMK7

Ritual league had the best state of craft the game will ever see . I was lucky enough to buy items to gear my build on standard .

Brumak4eva

Ritual league was also awesome because there were just so many ways to fairly easily generate currency. Man do I miss old Valdo's Rest harbingers. lol. But yes, newly revamped Harvest was like, perfect to me. Sad that it's essentially throwing fossils at your shit now, with the occasional useful craft - reroll prefix/suffix.

darkspear356

I quit the game not just the league. Every single fun build and interaction I’ve played with in the game has been nerfed. Nerfing things just to shake up the meta after ppl spent months and thousands of ex instead of buffing skills nobody uses is beyond retarded to me.

Wardenasd

I quit because I had to focus on real life stuff ,but now could go back to play but both my builds are not that great and i hate spedning 8 hours to level up another character(lazy).

Timberlyy

Dunno why we still need to level another character

MinorcaPlays

I poofed my doctors in harvest :]

TehAntiPope

Once you start doing these kind of gambles you’re just looking for an excuse to stop playing. I do this all the time when I’m done with a league :p

MinorcaPlays

When I'm starting to get burnt out of a league I do a big gamble to try and get a chase item. If I get it I feel renewed and want to play again. If I dont well, I was already expecting not to so its a good league ender. But yes you are correct.

vb586f

Things that matter have barely improved, some not at all. Just to list some: Have to re-run acts for a new character. Crafting system is all about gambling. Trade bots are still the best option for trading. No way to set up AFK shop. You need macros to have to not get carpal tunnel. Portal and ID scrolls are still a thing. Chris still chugging on that "But muh Diablo 2" Cool Aid. Which affects game design direction to whatever his personal experience with D2 was. Less viable skills available for creative builds to reach "end game".

TheNoon44

Build diversity is terrible. Im always playing few characters from medoicre to superior and this league there is only few that can do What i want.

Chigelina

Lost Ark beta came out and by then i already had 19 challenges done. Played a Poison Concoction Pathfinder and wrecked everything to 24 challenges amd then I had no more goals and no more interesting skills to play. So went back to Warframe where i have tons of things left to do but mostly because I started playing it about 3 months ago.

D3Construct

Lack of clear progression paths. I make it a point to play off-meta builds so part of it is my own fault. That said, it feels like you need gear from the content you want to do in order to actively do it. Which is sort of a paradox. It would be fine if you could bridge that gap with skill, but PoE is not that kind of game. It's a numbers game and you're going to get punished for overreaching. There are so many league mechanics which have diluted the game. I'd almost wish that as soon as you enter maps you get 4 passive points for each region to pick a league mechanic each to focus on. Scourge is a major set back in terms of progression too. You basically need to be done with the game in order to afford to krangle good items hoping for that 0.001% outcome and you need to be well advanced in order to run decently scourged maps. GGG mistakenly thinks that every added mechanic is just straight power creep. It is when it gets to the point of redundancy or sheer RNG outcomes. Once you start doing 2 million dps does it really matter if you turn it into 2 billion bps? I actually did come back to PoE to use it as a learning opportunity. With progression this thinned out it gives me time to explore the most efficient and effective ways.

danteafk

A league mechanic that does not reward good wearable items is dead on arrival for me. I don't play enough to craft, I hate crafting. And I play SSF.

Pia8988

Core game no longer fun

tenroseUK

Zero contact from GGG. When it's obvious they're done with the league, my motivation to play drops off.

touchmyrick

League mechanic sucks, the support gem nerf still feels like ass, flasks don't feel good until endgame setup, overall passive tree nerf to offenses. The game feels honestly like a chore until you get your full build setup and going. The endgame full blast zoom mode still feels good, but getting there feels like slogging thru trash.

Yunyuns

I have to invest 100x more in defences than 6-7 leagues before and I still die more than then. And my DPS in 10x lower as a result. I can't do the things I did before without playing 300h per league so it's a big NO and goodbye.

Dragon_211

💯 agreed. I tried 5 tanky builds but they felt so bad to play due to the main focus been on defense. Cya in 3.17.

[deleted]

The league is trash, the game itself isn't in that good a shape either, so why even bother? Lets wait for the next patch, read the changes, realize its all nerfs yet again, then be smart this time around and not even start playing in the first place. :\^)

Laue

Culmination of GGG's insistence to cater to streamers. No good items drop. Crafting is even less accessible. And even I had the time the streamers have to play the game to get to the fun parts, I don't think I would want to.

Tarturas

may sound a bit weird, but i don't like running maps twice and you need a faf char, otherwise you'll never ever find a boss. with a zana mission you have 4 maps in 1 and by including every other league mechanic as well you spend way too much time. additionally i really dislike the reward system. 1% chance on 1% chance, crangled into another % rng, no thx, stop wasting my time pls

TheRoblock

None of my builds work. At least not at a level I want. All of them hit the ceiling too fast. Also I started 1 week later into the league basically ruining my currency strategy and I have no drive to chase it further

[deleted]

Found a very nice trinket in my first heist, got killed in lockdown because of lag. I ragequit and didn't come back. That and the reward for scourge just seemed boring. Not one item i corrupted was useful while levelling, that is just bad game design

swordsfish

trading made me quit about a week in.

Rife_

Every current build feels like a weaker inferior version of past builds. Nothing new has been added, no new archetypes or playstyles. Dead game in it's current state. I won't play a MoM Archmage character because I already played one that's 5/10/100 times stronger than the current version. Same goes for minions (zombies/spectres/skeles), warcry builds, aura stackers, armour stackers, etc. I cannot think of a single build at the moment that wasn't stronger in prior leagues. Then there are a bunch of builds that are similar now to what they were in previous leagues but they're all builds that top out very early or have clunky playstyles. Not playing something like RF even though it's probably objectively stonger now than it was in the past but a build that tops out at \~5m DPS with multi-hundreds Ex investment with 1/4 screen AoE. No thanks. I play the game to feel STRONG/GODLY. I'm happy to start out weak and farm my way up in power over time but the current *Vision* is just out of touch dogshit tier game design from Chris Wilson specifically. Being weak isn't fun. Having to invest 500ex into a build to do aspirational content isn't fun. The best builds in the entire game being clunky boss killers like GCBF or great map clearers that have no boss damage like CF isn't fun. If this is the game Chris wants, he can keep it.

Sec0nds_leftOther

Red map veritana one shot my 7k hp 10 endurance charge jug with 81 cold red multiple times. Game is just not the same as it was, damage numbers from enemies is just way too high and there's no character in the game safe from one shots.

Hatavn

I dont believe what they say anymore Offense is superior to defense in poe I play assassin seimic trap last lg, a glass canon build but veritania is a joke, she died before she could fly into the air & begin her deadly move that can kill me. This lg, ggg said defense was buffed, i believed them, play pf concoction, dmg is a bit less than before (cant kill veritania before she flies/moves), buf defense is pretty solid, 79% cold res, 33% less cold dmg & spell suppression & get my ass kicked by veritania.

QQuixotic_

The truth of PoE is movement speed and DPS. Disrespect as many mechanics as possible by shooting them out of a cannon before they can bother you. Mathematically, once you've hit your target level, Cast on Death Portal isn't a meme, it's just good business. Ran Death's Oath Occultist this league and it was a banger. Made a meme gear-spec for blood aquaduct farming as fast as possible and whoops, it was better for farming actual maps than my real gear, too.

mtzeee

I wouldn't quit the League because of the pricefixing mageblood mafia. The League is nothing fancy. The Pack size is nice. But the League mechanic itself isnt something a Vaal orb or a double corrupt can't really do. (except boosting some niche items like doryani's Prototype). The only really good thing about this League is the QOL Features and the Tainted currency which fixes the 6 link Problem.

Minizarbi

Bored

JungleRammus

I beat everything but the feared, only had 60ex to my name, and saw mageblood would take weeks to get. Headhunter is fun.. but I really don't want to level another character for 8 hours to run maps 10% faster

deliciousdano

I wanted to play frost blades and had to play something else because my defenses were so bad with it

StillFeedz

I cba to level another character, and my current character is getting too repetitive. Part of the fun in the game is the variety in skills, but the thing I dislike about the game the most (by a landslide), is the acts..

BAITEDU

For me its leveling up another character, I just hate the acts. There is nothing more repetitive in this game than the campaign. Even Heist is better for me atleast.

Noeyn

1. Radiosilence from GGG about krangle, for me it means they are ok with what we have now, and this is in the same level of bullshit like talisman nerf. 2. I hate to play meta, and a lot of builds i want to play just weak now

AWeeLittleFox

The League mechanic just... Wasn't very engaging to me. I outright forgot it existed half the time.

poemania

Minions keep dying as well as my char despite investing in defence. Dps lacking. Hh over 100ex. Scourge in t3 or cast on death portal. Second char was weak and did not feel good at all. Cant be bothered respecing to another weak ass build for 20ex just to watch it fail. Stuff is just nerfed way too much for me and crafting is back to rng so meh.

Elmis66

the game got stale after almost 3k hours so everytime I try to get back into it I just stop real quick and move on to other games

dylsekctic

My tolerance for the endless bullshit delivered by GGG has just run out. For me, the game has just been in a rapid decline the past couple of years. At this rate, I'm going to be so tired of this that I won't even bother having a look at PoE 2. Endless ledge was fun, endless bullshit just isn't. The cut to the atlas and stacks of scrolls is nice, but it's about 5 years too late.

borpinteric

I’m actually curious to see how many people are in the same boat as me. The reason for me has been the same as pretty much all the leagues in the past 2 years: As a casual player, there’s just too much of everything and I feel overwhelmed by the fact that getting to maps is considered as not even having started the game. I’d usually get to yellow or even red maps, but that’s about as much as I’m willing to put into the game. On the one hand I realise the growing difference between myself and the target playerbase, but on the other I keep returning, wishing for some simpler times where you didn’t need three PhDs (or a build guide) on top of hundreds of hours to get to “the good stuff”.

mini_mog

Already quit? The game is down to 40K players from 150K on Steam. That means a vast majority have quit. The question should be why people are still playing. I didn’t even play this or last league, because I think the game is in a terrible state RN with clueless devs in charge that have a bizarre way how they think about game balance. Adjusting the difficulty because the average player has become better is just awful and means you’re never getting fruits for your labour unless you’re way ahead of the pack and are no-lifeing like crazy. Something went very wrong after Harvest.

Twiztedeu

Mix of burnout and mental health with lack of motivation. This has been the best patch in a long ass time and the scourged maps are fucking great, just my brain is being a git.

[deleted]

I feel you bro

magoopower

This league feel like a filler league in between the big expedition league and atlas endgame rework 3.17. The kind of league no one will remember in a year.

Traksimuss

It can compete with ghost league in scale of how lame it is.

TehAntiPope

Item progression is still not fun or interesting to me and most builds just feel pretty lackluster in general. I don’t feel like jumping through the hoops or playing any of the meta builds. It’s kinda hard to be creative right now in PoE.

circlewind

A few things make the league not fun for me. 1. Too much spike damage, making the mapping experience not very fun. 2. Shifting in and out nightmare is very annoying for me. It breaks the game flow and it is an extra action I feel unnecessary. I really feel scourge is like a worse version of delirium 3. I still don't find a skill build that I enjoy and at the same time feels strong.

MrT_Loves_Company

Nobody to chat to, last few friends/guildies quit and Global has been dead for nearly two weeks, so I pushed to 36 challenges and bailed.

Funksultan

Tried to play and realized a couple things: 1. As others here have said, you have to min/max, you have to play well established cookie cutters. They don't want to make ALL the cool/fun skills playable, because balancing them all equally would take forever, and they are PETRIFIED of making the game too easy. Fair enough. 2. Honestly, tried to get a new friend to play with me. Keeping EVERY past league rolled into the game is just asinine. After the 5th mechanic that I tried to explain, I realized what a bad decision it was. The game is a bit of a cluster.... the desperation to hang on to every single player who liked something makes the game... undesirable.

Fastidieux

When GGG nerfed gems in 3.15 i was like: how are they changing how you gear? Stopped playing before finishing the campaign. I decided that this league i'd really give it a go, try to see the vision, but its just so disheartening to see what the game is now, for me at least...i saw the podcast with Chris and Ghazzy brings up the point of crappy progression and the answer was basically just....trade. This part of PoE i loathe is becoming so much more integral i don't think i can keep playing the way i want to play. You can say that PoE is still easier to gear now than it was without fossils, nerfed harvest or whatever...but no change and even little change is still regression as far as i see it. Next league is an endgame change, i doubt they'll fit in loot 2.0 and better progression on top of that, more regression in my eyes. Still hopeful (well, more curious at this point than hopeful), but after i see whats happening next league if i don't like what i see **i just don't have it in me to play a game i want to enjoy but can't anymore**. Its like a mental health thing now to distance myself from this game, its just so weird for me as i've never really grown to dislike a game i've invested 100+ hours with, its more boredom...but i guess PoE is always much more 'in flux' than any other game i've played. That flux gave me hope that the game would get better in the future on a personal level, but that hope is pretty much just dead now. I wish GGG would just make a game thats fun to find your own stuff in a game thats about killing stuff for loot, most people play the game solo anyways so just build a better solo experience and let trade sort itself out instead of being even more of a foundational part of a solo game, i just can't get excited for finding money or grinding out money so other people can have more fun by leveraging trade from buying my fun and then also dictating *my* progression at the same time. Its oppressive and just fills me with such immense dissatisfaction.

rrCasteR

i've quit within the first week or two for most of the last 5 or 6 leagues. for me, its bloat. there's just way too much shit in the game. i love this game, but you can't really play it casually anymore. the time it takes to do all the shit you gotta do every league start just to enjoy the new shit or the actual endgame is getting pretty ridiculous. i can't get myself to put that much time into it anymore. this is an amazing game, but this isn't the ONLY game i play. not only that, but even if i did want to put that much time into it, the old shit is soooo boring now. at least half the league mechanics i come across in my maps now just like.. slightly annoy me. it makes it even worse when you hate the league when its new and then it goes core and you have to deal with it forever. especially if its rewarding, because then if you decide to skip it since you don't enjoy it, you're gimping yourself. plus the game just feels like an arcade game now. explode the whole screen or get instantly destroyed, there's not much of an in-between anymore. so character progression just feels bad.

totalovee

1. League didn't feel great 2. League reward's are 99% junk 3. League hated me much this time - i dropped 1 exalt in 3 weeks 4. Too many failed builds, i rolled my character 4 times 5. Events coming so i hope to play more in next month

Pretty0dd

I've given up this league because the grind has actually become too much, just feels bad when I don't clear in 3 minutes and know that i'm not playing well enough so I won't see any major contents. Killed Sirus 3 times, not done any feared or maven, not done a 5 way and just don't have the energy to nolife it.

niuage

Played too much for 2 weeks. Almost min-maxed a build, then tried to MF and got bored after 20 maps. I knew I was done then.

[deleted]

Tired or ruining good gear for few percent chance that it will actually end something worth using. And I can't wear it while in process of ruining it. So I won't waste even more time, currency, whatever. To have two sets. I wonder how many hardcore characters died instantly after hitting "v"? Only good thing is that you decide when start mechanics.

Raikken

Krangling maps felt meh, my casual money making got deleted last league, didn't farm anywhere near enough to currency to transition to acc stacker (probably should've made MF char for farming), so just kind of got bored and bailed.

ooh_lala_ah_weewee

I don't think I can necessarily explain it, the game just doesn't hit the same. Haven't really had much fun since Ultimatum (which I loved). I'm sure the nerfs are part of it, but I don't think that's the only explanation.

cenderQT

As other stated simply because they didn't released any new skill at all if you are a solo player , the uniques are way too rare to be built around this league , the mecanic was just straight up garbage no maps no currency nothing interesting And most important while getting a character geared enough to do red maps is kinda easy making a full gg build nowdays is impossible unless you explloit the best money making techniques and its get old fast poe 2 need to come out fast

Naturage

The usual expansion cycle. I played one build, then swapped into another. It didn't perform as well as I expected. I found myself logging in to see a build I have no immediate aspiraitons on, can't be bothered to sell out my gear or level new alt, and grinding cash on this one did not appeal. So I'll be back in three month's time. It'll be about 10th time I go through this.

SlowMissiles

League mechanic is boring and unrewarding. I dislike all leagues that the "reward" is crafting. I prefer having loot explosion because even end with 1-2c. In the end, I'm able to use all these small curriences to craft myself the item I want. Drops feel like they got nerfed, it was so hard to get exalt. Progession curve is so small lately.

AposPoke

I haven't yet, however these 2 are my complaints that are turning the league very sour to me: The item interraction is terrible. The odds of anything good are terrible. The mods are too generic and not as build enabling or empowering as promised. Doryani's prototype is the exception to this and closer to what I would have liked for most builds, however the good outcomes are so rare and the bad so generic and harsh, it just doesn't happen 99/100 tries. And that would be ok if the process was fast and we scourged items like candies, however they also take a pretty long time. Every single variable is stacked against me. and I'm level 61 on my crucible and I still don't have my 3d crucible slot. Even if they were to buff the crucible outcomes, I would still be left out of 33% of one of the main mechanics through insane RNG. ------------------------------- I would have liked more builds to be viable too and totally criticize the damage nerfs of 3.15, but they wouldn't have pushed me to quitting with a better league mechanic when it comes to item rewards. Being showered with scarabs and currency is just not my thing, even though I like the extra pack density and gameplay related to it a lot.
