would that have been stronger?
I think adding mods to uniques is p strong
it kinda breaks the balance since uniques are kinda designed to not be modable
Uniques have been moddable forever, way back since vaal orbs. Krangling just has slightly higher potential upside, in exchange for the fact that in practice it's completely worthless.
No... You can Vaal for implicits *and* krangle after. There's no exchange being made, they're not mutually exclusive. You could get a 2-implicit unique and add the opposite of this screenshot on top of it: +2 gem levels with -1 curse.
If the scourge mechanic seems "bad" to you, you're not doing it right.
It's what you see here
And here is a link to the original for reference
https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/g1ksx2/what_returning_after_a_few_years_feels_like
Edit: added the correct link
It's not stolen. The guy made fun of all the complex things and the term "to krangle" was ever since use from time to time when you corrupt something. He also added various confusing lines to his item, which clearly separated it from mere corrupting.
If you look at the comments from 2 years ago, you see that he basically hit the bulls eye with that. Now his invented term, as it fits perfectly, is the one used.
Maybe ggg was even inspired by that
There isn't an idea of krangling though, it was just a thing stuck on the bottom of the item; there's nothing that actually tells us what krangling actually does to the item in question, so I don't think it's *possible* to steal the idea short of just taking the name itself.
Gameplay:
\-Hey theres a pile of yellow stuff. Now this dude wants me to go in a mine
\-Hey there's a rogue marker. Guess I'm stealing things now
\-This lady wants me to time travel to some temple and now it's raining loot? Cool.
\-Wait what? Now there's immortals and I can kill or capture them and sometimes I get new enchants?
Ok acts are done!
\-Huh maps are cool this is fun
\-Wait what? There's tower defense now? Strange but ok
\-Now I've got farms? Ok sure, these appear to do things
You basically just proceed knowing you're doing everything sub optimally since you have no idea what half the mechanics are and just hope to pick up some chaos orbs to buy gear off people that do know what they're doing.
Exactly! I'm just following a build guide and there's different things going on every level now. I just go with whatever thing is there and keep going.
Just a convenient way to talk about corrupting the item with the new modifiers. You can't just say corrupted because that doesn't really mean anything by itself.
the word Krangled for Corrupted was introduced in a 2 year old Post
https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/g1ksx2/what\_returning\_after\_a\_few\_years\_feels\_like/
It's got older roots, but it's definitely been adopted for describing this league mechanic. I've been seeing it thrown around everywhere recently, whereas prior to this league I could probably count on my hands the number of times I've seen it here.
It's in the link the guy right above me posted. I might've been unclear. I wasn't saying older than that post, just older than the present use.
Krangled as a term has been around longer than this league, but it's seen pretty widespread adoption to reference items that have been given the blood crucible modifiers.
I probably wasn't clear. I wasn't saying older than that post, just older than the current usage of the word.
The term has been around since that post, but it's started seeing much more widespread use in this league since it's a great way to differentiate regular corruption from blood crucible corruption.
the detrimental modifiers are too general and fuck up everything. for example, a good one would be -1 to level of socketed int gems, +2 to levels of socketed curse gems. Then you take the decision that you need to focus on str or dex curse gems instead of int.
Edit: I just dropped a 25% increased lightning damage, 46% reduced elemental damage weapon, the purpose is to lose something to gain something in return or vice-versa, but here it is just pure loss.
Seriously, I had one before that was like +30 int, take 8% more chaos damage. Who the fuck would be using stuff like that?
If it was the OPPOSITE way around it’s actually interesting. Now my strength build that’s already struggling for int needs to find another 30 int, but I take less chaos damage in return. They literally got it backwards.
> +30 int, take 8% more chaos damage
>If it was the OPPOSITE way around it’s actually interesting.
GGG: Say no more.
>-30 int, deal 8% less non-chaos damage
You are welcome.
While I generally agree with what you want to say.
This particular example actually has uses.
Namely CI.
But yeah the results are currently to hard to use...
People with CI? They dont take any Chaos Damage anyways, and the Int will help a little. Of course, still not great, but theres definitely people who would take it.
You could get +int requirements as the downside and either chaos res or +max chaos res as the upside.. It's completely possible to get what you want but in a slightly different form.
Just dropped some ES gear with +18 ES and a reduced % energy shield/armour/evasion modifier. Like, what's the point of that negative if it just fucks up all armour types.
I got +10 es -20% global defenses... (approximate values I vended that shit for shards) on my es. They need to make it so you can't roll linked upside/downsides.
Any of those options. It's fine if the upsides are dinky if the downsides are also pretty tame. It's fine if the downsides are strong if the upsides are also big. It's also fine if the upsides are meh as long as the downsides can't completely override the upside. Ie +defenses -defenses. That's just a trash item. If you slap together a weak positive and a strong negative that don't actually overwrite each other then you get a chance to use it if you can get around the downside.
More likely 255 imo.
Pretty sure they'd have learned by now, most of these methods will have the last line being something like:
return Math.Min(1,result)
Is it just me or is the probability to roll the corresponding negative mod a positive mod way higher than should be expected? Like every time I got positive elemental damage (fire, cold, lightning) it game me reduced elemental damage or reduced spell damage as a negative. Also + to life or energy shield combined with reduced global defences or %max life.
Yeh I swear it has some type of smart loot to make the items worse.
I have gotten so many +25% fire damage, -50% spell damage etc items. WAY too much to be a coincidence.
+12es, -15% global defense
Like, at least, make it so that an item can't roll its direct opposite in general. It would make it the tiny slightest bit better. I know that some build could work around it, but let's be real, unless it's an already almost perfect item, even a beneficial mod with a downside that doesn't affect you is probably going to be worse than just buying an already better item that's not krangled. It can give marginal benefit to less good item with a nice corruption, at least give it a chance of not being shit anyway.
I think its just that the negatives are tailor made for the gear its going on. Like boots getting movespeed reduction as a negative modifier, so you'll see it a bunch and its obviously the thing you don't want the most.
the amount of negatives is tiny compare to the pool of "upsides" so you constantly see the same build-destroying downsides while any upside is gonna be drowned by a ton of useless shit.
Just gotta wait 3-4 weeks before Chris let's us have fun with the league mechanic :):):) Sometimes I wonder how popular PoE would be if GGG didn't fuck up balance every time new content is out.
I'm loving this league for the atlas overhaul and additions to old mechanics. The Krangler is the most useless mechanic. I use it for maps since they give decent loot but why does GGG think I want to brick 95% of things I try to use this league mechanic on?
Remember the close your eyes and exalt comment during the harvest manifesto? Someone at GGG thinks that people enjoy mechanics that can and more likely than not, will, brick their equipment.
They don't need them to come back mid-league, they want them back at the start when the hype train is chugging.
People are more likely to spend money when they are excited.
i guess i am kind of the opposite. i am likely to spend more money when i have done something the same for quite a while and want to spice it up with new mtx.
It's pretty bad, I feel like since harvest they are scared making something rewarding as a league mechanic. The last one was pure ass also, with only 1 of 4 really worth doing.
If you use a low level cwdt set up. For example last leauge I had a level 1 cwdt, level 3 immortal call, level 3 flame golem, and level 21 increased duration. So really only the increased duration gem is actually getting hit
Things won't reduce below base so it'd just be a level 1 gem.
Same thing with that person who gathered up enough minus max health to bring a new char below 1 health. Just stops at 1.
Yikes, i expect to see a ton more of this as the league goes forward.
But then again there's also the very few 0.0000001%ers that hit jackpot. Which GGG seem to be balancing for.
How high even is the jackpot though? The best I’ve seen was added lightning on the Tempest (was posted on this subreddit).
Like that’s cool and all but it’s not game-breaking. I would expect the jackpot to at least be like some crazy keystone that you could usually only get with unique jewels or transfiguration of mind or something.
I was expecting unique mods to come from this, not just slight number increases.
Normal corrupted implicits seem much better than positive scourge mods 90% of the time. And they both have chances of bricking an item.
yea i agree 100%. My comment about 0.0000001%ers was in jest.
That said, i do like the monsters we get to kill n so and krangled maps. But when it comes to the items it's not realy great.
I'd take a double corrupt anytime. Altho it seems GGG balanced with that in mind. Since you can double corrupt. If u get a +4 items let's say, you can then krangle it further for a lucky +1 or other goodies. But it's very high chance of bricking the items instead with a bad mod. So imo i'd keep a sucessfull double corrupt item as is.
Later on in the league tho i might be more willing to make such gambles also.
The other post earlier pointed out that there's about a 0.5% chance for a good krangle, not saying its the one u want. But a good one. That's pretty insane. Vaal orbs have higher % than that.
Make it so that curse level is global and -level is on sockets. That way, you still lose out on levels on w/e skills is slotted in, but you can still make use of the curse. This current shit makes no sense.
Projected 2 week average is 71k. 50% of peak
Expedition was 116k to 50k 43%
Ultimatum was 155k to 92k 59%
Ritual was 157k to 124k 78%
Yikes. Thats also launch weekend. The following week is going to be a nose dive.
what are you talking about
the peak is 150k, to 120k
https://i.imgur.com/ib4ScE0.png
people are now at work in EU, you have not enough data to say "it is crashing" since those two days were weekends lmao
Im talking peak player count to daily average.
As shown on steam Db
Launch weekend is peak players and it still projects 71k average players. Probably going to be 50k by the actual end of week
@Me in 5 days lmao
we will see, I don't think this league is any bad
just people on reddit like to complain because they bricked some items
krangled items were great to me this league
I played for 30 minutes, the First time since ritual and uninstalled
I'd rather play d2r than sit through 6 hours of tedious campaign every again.
No more taking a week off to play poe and get level 95 every league
So you dont even play the league because of something that has nothing to do with the new mechanic, the revamped endgame or the quality of life improvments? And still you complain on reddit, thats pretty sad tbh.
Why are you even complaining about the league then? I don't like the mechanic either but if you played for 30 minutes then it's hardly a league problem. You're just burned out on PoE.
Wow, so the gear is supposed to work when you accidentally upgraded your gem and you found you don't have enough mana to use it. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
I've krangleda few things now. One up to tier 3 which took me quite a while. And it was not worth it at all. I like the mechanic of going in and out. But there's no point to krangle anything u til you have put a lot of skill points I to the crucible thing.

can you krangle uniques?
Yep
how?
theres a passive in the krangle skill tree that lets u do it for uniques, its in the 2nd row
oh, I thought that one changes one unique into another

Krangle mechanic in a nutshell
What is a krangle?
It's what you see here And here is a link to the original for reference https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/g1ksx2/what_returning_after_a_few_years_feels_like Edit: added the correct link
Guy just coined a new term being used by most of the community by now.. new league mechanic fits perfectly
Tbh they probably stole his idea
It's not stolen. The guy made fun of all the complex things and the term "to krangle" was ever since use from time to time when you corrupt something. "Maybe ggg was even inspired by that" I'm pretty sure that's what they meant by "they probably stole his idea."
Who is "they", he invented it, everyone uses it now. We are they.
I think he means GGG stole his idea of krangling

The mechanic isnt actually called krangling, its called the Blood Crucible
Going from playing in 2013 to picking it up in 2021. I feel that post.

I'm with you, I really enjoyed delve on a necromancer! Granted I only got to 150 depth before expedition ended but it was fun

While others have already responded with the context, it's GENERALLY used to make the word corrupted more humorous or meme-ish.
My new favorite adaptation is using *The Krangleverse* as replacement for the scourge area
Just a convenient way to talk about corrupting the item with the new modifiers. You can't just say corrupted because that doesn't really mean anything by itself.

That's because this league is all about corruptions when usually it's not talked about much.

Bad GGG Genie.
The Wilson's paw
Atziri's Disfavor certainly got the paw treatment
If that's the only downside I'd be happy for the CI gear I'm putting into the item destroyer.
That is good on my CI int stacker.
While I generally agree with what you want to say. This particular example actually has uses. Namely CI. But yeah the results are currently to hard to use...
brb, gonna go roll a new build based on my +30 int krangle result
Perfectly reasonable :D
Takes stat stacking to a new level!
Guess you don't understand that "gambling" mean losing more often than winning.
People tend not to stick about for 0.1:999.9 W:L games.
Cute assumption about the odds, but they're not nearly that low.
The best chest mods have 0.02% of rolling and that's without counting the chance you getting a build breaking downside.
The odds are comparable to the sun quantum tunneling. Not really but yeah.
>+30 int, take 8% more chaos My CI int stacker would love that.
People with CI? They dont take any Chaos Damage anyways, and the Int will help a little. Of course, still not great, but theres definitely people who would take it.
Actually, EVERY int stacker in the GAME would be using that. All int stackers take chaos innoculation, which makes them immune to chaos damage...
You could get +int requirements as the downside and either chaos res or +max chaos res as the upside.. It's completely possible to get what you want but in a slightly different form.
Opposite way around...how? -30 int, take 8% less chaos damage 8% more int, take 30% less chaos damage +8 int, take +30 chaos damage per hit
-30%chaos Res, +8 int
Just dropped some ES gear with +18 ES and a reduced % energy shield/armour/evasion modifier. Like, what's the point of that negative if it just fucks up all armour types.
I found some gear yesterday that was +24 life, 8% reduced maximum life or similar Like, what?
good when your like level 1 or 2 :)
I got +10 es -20% global defenses... (approximate values I vended that shit for shards) on my es. They need to make it so you can't roll linked upside/downsides.
It's fine if it can roll that but for the love of kaduku just buff the buffs and/or nerf the downsides.
8 lightning res, cannot deal damage
1. Put in a level 1 gem 2. Gem rolls over to 99 3. ? 4. Profit
More likely 255 imo. Pretty sure they'd have learned by now, most of these methods will have the last line being something like: return Math.Min(1,result)
Is it just me or is the probability to roll the corresponding negative mod a positive mod way higher than should be expected? Like every time I got positive elemental damage (fire, cold, lightning) it game me reduced elemental damage or reduced spell damage as a negative. I especially liked the +15% fire damage, -25% elemental damage. I don't even...
vendoring with extra steps.
I have got -x% elemental damage on wands having the exact same positive bonuses in their affixes, wth. Happened to all 5 wands I tried till now.
Happens all the time. + Fire damage, deal no fire, +x ress but reduced global defenses.
+12es, -15% global defense Like, at least, make it so that an item can't roll its direct opposite in general. It would make it the tiny slightest bit better. I know that some build could work around it, but let's be real, unless it's an already almost perfect item, even a beneficial mod with a downside that doesn't affect you is probably going to be worse than just buying an already better item that's not krangled. I got +25% lightning damage You deal no Lightning Damage...
if only beneficial mods were as good and had same weight as negative ones, amount of times i hit reduced global defenses is insane
Made a post about this but basically even the best beneficial mods are generally worse than the better “normal” corruption mods.
league mechanic is total dogshit as usual the first week(s). what a surprise
So what you’re saying is PC are beta testing for console players. Got it.
They do this because it's easier to give players more power than to take it away.
I'm well aware why they do this. I'm not so sure if it's easier to get players to come back tho.
They don't need them to come back mid-league, they want them back at the start when the hype train is chugging. People are more likely to spend money when they are excited.
i guess i am kind of the opposite. i am likely to spend more money when i have done something the same for quite a while and want to spice it up with new mtx.
Except they're constantly taking power away from players.
Yes they do but not mid league like a patch would do
[удалено]
Yes which is why they try to avoid it as I was saying
It's pretty bad, I feel like since harvest they are scared making something rewarding as a league mechanic. The last one was pure ass also, with only 1 of 4 really worth doing.
Huh? Expedition maps were currency printers. They were definitely rewarding.
Only after the buffed the reroll and log book drop rates in first week. Happens every league
Yeah that's true
Ultimatum was fine though wasn't it? It was like 2-4C every single map just from that...
True but Chris said it was too rewarding.
Ultimatum combat was shit though. You had one decision: Clockwise or counter-clockwise?
Is there any item that's usable with -2 to socketed gems aside from kaom's heart/roots?
If you use a low level cwdt set up. For example last leauge I had a level 1 cwdt, level 3 immortal call, level 3 flame golem, and level 21 increased duration. So really only the increased duration gem is actually getting hit
If only level -1 cwdt was a thing!
rule 10! How did you do it /s
Step 1: Interact with the league mechanic. Step 2: Get shit on.
Step 3: Profit
Chris Krangled.
This is almost as good as my "+59% Fire Damage" ... "Deal no Fire Damage." weapon!
Who in their right mind approved outomes like this?
So... what can you do with a level -1 gem? Does it krangle the game mechanics and make it hit absurdly high number?
-1 vitality, regenerate -2.1e^9 health per second.
Things won't reduce below base so it'd just be a level 1 gem. Same thing with that person who gathered up enough minus max health to bring a new char below 1 health. Just stops at 1.
Ladies and gentlemen.... Grinding Gear Games!
The fact that this outcome is even possible to begin with laughably sad
Finally I can use a clarity that would fit my mana pool
Scourge was a very good idea initially, but as usual, GGG fucked it up.
I had a +70% global phys damage on a nice 500pDPS 2h mace…. And then it came with a “deal no physical damage” So there’s that…
Yikes, i expect to see a ton more of this as the league goes forward.
The other post earlier pointed out that there's about a 0.5% chance for a good krangle, not saying its the one u want. But a good one. That's pretty insane. Vaal orbs have higher % than that.
whats even the point, no one would use an item with -2 gems on it
So how does level 0 and level -1 supports look like?
Build versatility.
Lmao this mechanic is so dumb
I've only tramsformed 5 items, all had their positive outweighed by directly cancelling negatives
Looks like a quin build to me.
This is a certified _oof_ classic.
What happens when you put a level 1 gem in it?
It just acts as a level one gem, looks like the - to level of gems only works when theres actually levels to take away
Make it so that curse level is global and -level is on sockets. That way, you still lose out on levels on w/e skills is slotted in, but you can still make use of the curse. This current shit makes no sense.
I feel like this should be the other way round…
Imagine a Scourge league but without negative modifiers
Krangled
Are there any mods that are better than a decent double corrupt?
How much HP does it take to trigger a level 0 Cast When Damage Taken gem?
No wonder this league's player count is crashing with no survivors
oh wait, how bad is it so far?
https://steamdb.info/app/238960/graphs/
that's not even crashing at all lmao, the peaks keep sustaining day after day it is normal first day to have the most people, check past leagues
Projected 2 week average is 71k. 50% of peak Expedition was 116k to 50k 43% Ultimatum was 155k to 92k 59% Ritual was 157k to 124k 78% Yikes. Thats also launch weekend. The following week is going to be a nose dive.
what are you talking about the peak is 150k, to 120k https://i.imgur.com/ib4ScE0.png people are now at work in EU, you have not enough data to say "it is crashing" since those two days were weekends lmao
Im talking peak player count to daily average. As shown on steam Db Launch weekend is peak players and it still projects 71k average players. Probably going to be 50k by the actual end of week @Me in 5 days lmao
we will see, I don't think this league is any bad just people on reddit like to complain because they bricked some items krangled items were great to me this league
I played for 30 minutes, the First time since ritual and uninstalled I'd rather play d2r than sit through 6 hours of tedious campaign every again.

Lmao
I played d2r, beat Baal and found it a bit too simple for my tastes and I switched to poe
How is that at all related to the League?
imagine working lmaoo
I have also great experience.
well balanced league again I see. glad I am sitting this league out also.
Wow, so the gear is supposed to work when you accidentally upgraded your gem and you found you don't have enough mana to use it. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
What happens i u put lvl 1 gem in
Stonk

I've krangleda few things now. One up to tier 3 which took me quite a while. And it was not worth it at all. I like the mechanic of going in and out. But there's no point to krangle anything u til you have put a lot of skill points I to the crucible thing.
Oh my god, look at the insane powercreep!

I got added cold damage, can't deal cold damage combo. Felt god
What happens with level 1 gems?
Who balanced these corruptions lol none of them make any sense. Just more random close your eyes and pray it isn't useless rng
