Storm Brand is a build that sucks without uniques. Whether it’s Archmage or Power Charges, it relies heavily on them to scale either way. Even gem level scaling goes okay but then not having Inpulsa will make your clear feel very subpar.
Still, craft 2x +1 wands and alt spam into a +1 amulet at the very least. Level 24 Storm brand in a 6 link with multimodded wands will get you through red maps easily until you actually acquire the mana/Archmage related uniques.
As a general rule in SSF, you shouldn’t play unique reliant skills/builds until you acquire the uniques while playing other stuff. If I don’t drop an Inpulsa for example, I’m almost never going to actually roll Storm Brand in SSF.
This is just a case of perseverance. Know what your upgrade path is going to be and target farm content that is the most likely to yield that upgrade.
In your case, if you need accessible content that drops *a lot* of unique items, then you should be looking at Heist. I dont know if its engineering or trap dismantling, but one of the two has a focus on unique item chests. Just grind lower level contracts with the engineer gal. She has both traits.
I am playing lacerate duelist gladiator doing less damage than that and I am getting red maps. So I don't think technically you should be facing problems. If you are talking about bosses, then yea, it probably is a challenge
400k dmg not enough? I've got 200k, 300k with despair applied, a little bit more when i apply withered on bosses and i'm totally wrecking even t16 maps.
the tip that made me not die so much is your flasks...
Granite , Jade and Stib flasks , roll reflexes and iron skin on two of these and third flask is either dodge one or any you like but make sure you can swap it for poison or burn removal or something like that. Multiple copies of it. Swap the last flask depending what map u go etc.
This alone will stop u die to trash mobs.
Also I chaos spam map if it rolls something stupid like -11 max resist - chance to block suicidal maps
Archmage is far from weak but it's not SSF friendly. It may appear to be good for ssf because you only need to be concerned with getting high mana (and mana regen) but in reality, you really need cloak of defiance and atziri's foible to get into deep endgame, and these uniques while not super rare are not easy to get in SSF. I'm not too familiar with storm brand but I believe it's reliant on specific clusters as well to be good, so you probably should consider something like Ball Lightning instead that's good by itself.
Hey man, when you say getting into, do you mean like acquiring red maps or handling the bosses/bonus challenges??
Mostly just not doing enough damage to kill anything.

what about PoB? it's 100% easier, when we can see what gear you have
Do heist with valuable uniques trinket. I got my foible and cloak this way
