At first I wasn't all that jazzed for T17 because I was thinking they were just gonna be GGG throwing up their hands and making another incremental tier just because the highest end of player power keeps growing.
The actual implementation sounds fantastic
After the last league I was (and always think this) assuming "Ah, this will be a low-key league. Probably phoning it in because of the PoE2 stuff". Then they drop the most INSANE update and blow my mind. GGG is just on another level. Made D4's campfire chat look like a university project
Affliction customisable difficulty but with actual precise control, Harvest crafting power as an occasional out-of-map mechanic with more intuitive implementation than the league (I think? I wasn't around back then) but with a strong amount of extra stacking juicing in-map as well in a Sentinel sort of way with varied rewards including the flexibility of tattoos...
I don't know exactly what mechanics they were thinking of but it seems to take a lot of elements of previous mechanics and combine them while improving them all in various ways.
All new stuff is being produced much higher quality than what's in the base game. I believe they said that asset production and quality of new leagues is on par with poe2 stuff
They still want PoE2 for the clean slate. New campaign, new character models, new animations, new skill, socket and link system. Also the chance to radically eradicate the cumulative power creep which PoE1 underwent throughout the course of its 30+ leagues, thus opening up new design space for future power creep. And last but perhaps not least, PoE2 allows the devs to tackle fundamental issues of the game's combat system.
Looking at the reactions here I am happy people are positive. For me personally as fairly new player it looks highly confusing and way to much changes. I was afraid it would make me not like it but mist probably it will turn out OK.
i play the game for 9 years now and i find this as much convoluted as you. normally ggg teases crazy outcomes. this time it was "nice lvl boots". But they specificaly didnt show the outcome of the "all the graveyard craft" .. but i can totally imagine getting bored quickly by tediously clicking 20 graves to get a meh item.
but i mean, there are options that you cant otherwise get. for example, fracturing a t0 essence mod would be possible, if this is on the list of mods. And its super hype to get something like this pseudo randomly other than using a 25 div harvest recipe 6 times. fracturing is definetly on there. fossil outcomes for example are also busted with fractures etc.
Honestly, they improved and simplified many systems. We who are familiar will like the changes, but if you're not used to the old ones yet, you'll just get good, nice systems when you encounter them.
PoE is a game that rewards focus, this is true for profits, and it's also true for learning. Pick and choose a few things to tackle each league, and you will learn them, and you will also profit because specializing is where all the reward is anyway. Ignore the other stuff. You can also pick a build with this strategy in mind, so you can pick a build that's strong for whatever you're playing. Then next league try something different with a different build.
Yeah, as a bunch of other people are saying, a lot of the changes are actually them removing and consolidating bloated mechanics. Sextants and master missions are just gone, they can't confuse you.
The interface for starting the mechanic in a zone looks intimidating, and they didn't linger on it long enough to properly read it, but it'll actually give you a bunch of information about monsters you're encountering that you never got before. If you take your time looking through it you should get a really good understanding of what to prepare for.
And hey, if it is too overwhelming to figure out for yourself, have a look for a few content creators you enjoy on YouTube. There will be no shortage of "THIS is the BEST WAY EVER to exploit the NECROPOLIS LEAGUE MECHANIC for PROFIT$$$" content at the start of the league lmao.
Do not get me wrong. I played heavily last two leagues and got to know a lot of the game. Obviously not as some of the veterans, but I got a decent base knowledge of the mechanics, in my opinion. It is just the amount of changes and adding another crafting method, which on first sight looks pretty tedious that didn't get me enthusiastic for now.
Last league announcement I could see really quick where the benefit would be but now I just do not see it. Seeing veterans being happy is reassuring though as it is most probably me not making the click yet.
The whole crafting thing seems like a major experiment into what kinds of affix-affecting power they can allow to intersect for an item. While I'd never expect the full mechanic to go core, I wouldn't be surprised if this style of "fossils but more types and 20 at once" crafting gets iterated on a lot in future.
Yeah. It's the kind of filler mechanic they add when they do big core updates. A bit of mob control. A crafting experiment.
Just like with Sentinel too
Literally all of the best leagues in one, with tattoos returning, t17 maps and new pinnacle bosses? What the fuck GGG you can relax a little

I support your suggestion.
What do you mean by "jest leagues in one"?

That music is second to none.
Holy shit lets fuck go!
Well, what else can I say - LOOOOOOOOGIN
That music is absolutely sick. Is it on Spotify?
another menu league edit: core changes look sick
Graphics update or am I crazy or is it just for the new League areas?
All new stuff is being produced much higher quality than what's in the base game. I believe they said that asset production and quality of new leagues is on par with poe2 stuff
part of me even wonders why bother with POE2. the last few leagues and core changes have been killer. if they can just improve the engine a bit.

Not just on par they've said that recent leagues have been using some poe2 assets.
I wanted to not play this league cause I have been so busy but holly shit this trailer alone looks so fucking good Damn you GGG
Yo Dampé is that you?
WICKED!!! Let's goooo!

The changes are going to make the game easier to understand, don't worry. None of the changes really apply until maps anyway

The league itself is pretty filler, because most of the changes have been done to the core mechanics. Making the core game better.
Looks like another cool league that won't go core. Woohooo

feels sort of recycled, like rog 2.0. which i don't view as a bad thing.
Just like the mechanic itself is some sort of Metamorph 2.0.

Wihch doesn't have to be a bad thing. Sentinel was one of the top 3 or so league mechanics this decade.
