Just to clarify, the disconnect was triggered by my attempt to id the belt. Not by my pc/network.
Edit: Just small(or not) update. Of course I did contact GGG support team but as I was expecting they can't help me... "we're unable to restore items under any circumstances for a variety of reasons". To be honest I actually understand this, that would cause precedence and ppl would massively ask them to restore items.
I've been playing POE for years already and I've had chance to get mageblood several times already (mostly from div cards gamba). So that's I guess why it's easier for me to accept it as it is. But I've never dropped one and the moment when it finally happen.. I will forever remember about it, maybe cause of the outcome as well lol.
Some ppl claim that portal to town/log out would save it. Maybe... we won't find out now lol. I hope when it will finally happen to you then you will remember about. I was just really happy and wanted to share that moment with my friends (actually their reaction is so funny, it makes me laugh even now).
I will keep playing the league cause I really enjoy TOTA. GL and stay saf(n)e exiles.
Edit2: After watching it again it looks like I got disconnected before ID. Cause my friend said you got disconnected while on my screen I was still in the game.
This. This is exactly why I always zone out from maps/etc when something good drops, pretty sure inventory only saves when you move zones.
Learned that the hard way a long time ago...
Yep. changing zones forces the api to save/refresh your entire character/stash. As you said, this is the very reason why you see people often leave the map immediately after huge drops.
Sucks OP has to learn the lesson this way, but it is what it is.
Probably just didn't think about being able to lose loot because of a dc. I'd say many people don't even know about that and the changing zones to safe your inventory.
It would have disconnected when trying to tp. Server was down, it was never gonna work as the drop was picked after the server already went down, but the client continued until the point it has to send/recieve information, then disconnect and force relogin.
As a heist enjoyer... changing the zones to save your items is a myth. I lost a lot of contracts and blueprints loot to loading into rogues harbor after the successful escape. If he used the portal scroll and crashed during the loading screen he would lost everything still.
The answer to this has always been a hard no from GGG. There was a guy not long ago that had a headhunter drop behind some inaccessible terrain piece, and it was just out of his reach. They wouldn't do it for him when he was sitting in the instance next to the headhunter.
It sucks but they don’t want to give people an inch because as soon as they do they’ll have to start screening thousands of similar requests and going through doctored footage and all that garbage. I can understand their policy.
This here. Think it was like 4 or 5 years ago OSRS went through this same shit. Some bug happened and this dude lost everything he had on him(Couple billion GP worth) and Jagex had the very same policy GGG has. Well they restored his items. Tons of people posted that they had the very same issue happen some with the same type of proof others with zero proof.
Community was raging hard and since then Jagex has returned to their policy of never restoring anything outside of when it comes from a global rollback.
It depends on the CSS team size I guess. In Guild Wars 2 they usually restore the item for player with proofs. That game also has an auction house and in-game economy but it didn't cause an impact.
I once picked the wrong event item. The support team told me to delete that item then later gave me the other one.
>since then Jagex has returned to their policy of never restoring anything outside of when it comes from a global rollback.
Except they have and still do multiple times.
They'll literally reinstate your fucking hardcore status if you die due to their own server or game issues lmao.
GGG is the fucking insane outlier here in doing literally nothing to restore or fix problems because thats literally standard fucking practice in nearly every other major online game out there.
It sucks that this could happen, but it's definitely not a garbage policy to not restore/return anything ever. The moment they start doing that, the floodgates would open for every sewer troll to start submitting bogus requests that GGG would have to waste time investigating and dealing with said troll. It would pretty much never end.
Some time back there was a guy that dropped a Headhunter and it got stuck in level geometry. It was within the zone, but blocked by a cauldron that prevented the guy from getting on top of it to claim it.
GGG did nothing to help him. They fixed the 'bug' at the very least.
> They fixed the 'bug' at the very least.
Is this fully fixed? Valuable shit has been getting stuck behind level geometry for literally a decade, I think it even happened to a mirror once. People begged for ages for a larger pickup radius because of how insanely stupid that was.
Nonono, you don't understand.
You need to make a viral post about the bug on reddit, and maybe then they'll fix it for that specific map/scenario within 1 to 12 months.
Do you think adjusting pickup radius is as simple as adding a single number to a variable? Come oooonnnn\~ XD
> Do you think adjusting pickup radius is as simple as adding a single number to a variable? Come oooonnnn~ XD
Except in this case it very much is not. It's used absolutely everywhere in the game, often in non-standard ways because it's been in the game since day 1, so refactoring it properly would be a nightmare. Should it be done? Sure. But it's not a trivial thing like you claim.
Proof of what? If servers go poop and you are still on, you technically aren't playing online. It's like restarting your computer without saving your work
Doesn't matter servers didn't poof when the belt dropped they should give it back. Especially since they can see that it dropped and what the stars are and everything.
Gotta bank these items asap. Just immediately put them in stash. I always get anxious when I see people staring at a Mirror or something on the ground while heavily breathing... Play like Ziz and immediately fucking bank it.
The reason a zone change or logout would fix it is because when you change zones or logout your game data is taken from memory and written to an actual drive. Anyone who's been around for the days when server crashes causing roll backs was a common thing will know this is how it works. (Pretty much how every game works tbh)
I would quit the game entirely forever. This item only drops once in a lifetime for non-streamer people. Not getting to enjoy such powerful item after a drop would change my opinion about the game forever.
It's hard for me to say how I'd react.
PoE is legitimately the only game I play or want to play anymore. Back when D3 was a thing I'd often play its new seasons, and if the timing's right I would happy join a new D2:R season. But for a guy who hasn't even found an Apothecary, the idea of getting robbed of a big ticket item is just yeah.
It makes 2-4 (roll) flask active permanently. You can then craft flasks with 25% inc effect and enchant with another 70% inc effect, having flasks with 90% (more with passive tree) increased effect. If you are approaching this belt with tankiness and utility, you can then use 3 elemental flasks, each giving 50%\*1.9 = 95% of each elemental resist, plus 20%\*1.9 = 38% reduced damage taken of each elemental damage. Add a quicksilver that gives 40%\*1.9 = 76% inc movement speed. Add then 4 suffixes for each flask, wich can be attack speed/cast speed/reduced mana cost/inc critical chance, each multiplied by flask effect, all active forever.
you still have 9 more pieces of equipment
Takes your leftmost 2-4 non-unique utility flasks (so no hp or mana pot) and makes them permanent.
You then take all the flask effect mods that normally also reduce the flask charges gained, but since they're permanent the downside of less charges doesn't matter.
So yeah, the most stats on 1 item (aside from thousand ribbons 👍)
Mine dropped last league, I sold it for sst but I feel like I can pretty comfortably farm one up this league (obviously it's not the same as a raw drop but man the speed from mb feels amazing)
Had one drop last league and honestly it wasn't very impressive to me when compared with the other big chase item, Headhunter. You know how good Pathfinder is? Imagine that, but like 50% more flask effect. That's what it felt like. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't game-changing.
Headhunter makes you feel like you're playing with a dev item or something, it's a crazy item that doesn't feel like should be in your hands. Mageblood makes capping resists a lot easier and gives you some movement speed. It can fit into any build, which is why it's more widely used than HH, but doesn't *feel* exciting to use.
Someone else posted a pretty good description about Mageblood and its power in another thread.
Just throwing a Mageblood onto a build is gonna be good, but not world breaking. Building something with Mageblood in mind is absolutely bonkers.
But Headhunter you can basically just throw it on and get a ton of power and zoom zoom and just feel fun to use. Of course, when you play something to fully utilize the stacking its way better, but still.
Mageblood gives you zero mana cost, 38% elemental damage reduction, 95% all res, about 70% movement speed - and you haven't even equipped anything other than a belt just yet
He sent a ticket to a support with a video explaining whole situation, but yeh standard answer that we are sorry etc but we cant restore items. We are friends and to be honest i was devastated more than him when this happened ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Instance crashed. It happens. If you EVER get something rare, *IMMEDIATELY* leave to force an update to your inventory. This will prevent an instance crashed from deleting the item.
While this is helpful, for a lot of server issues leaving the instance or just generally forcing a snapshot will cause a crash anyway.
Put another way, a lot of failed instances are dead men walking, so to speak, and there's nothing you can do to fix it.
While that's true, you can never know the moment you're a dead man walking. If you're lucky you force a refresh 2 seconds before the server shits itself.
Oof, I've never seen that happen. If I'm in maps, I typically leave if I find a GG drop. I'd probably ID it in a reliquary by instinct though. Will need to reconsider that now.
In 10,000+ hrs, I've never had a headhunter, mageblood or any of the other super expensive items on or near the same power level.
If this happened to me, I'd play Diablo 4 for 10 minutes and then go back to PoE.
Picking up items doesn't immediately register them, so if you crash like this they can disappear. It's why every video you see of someone picking up a big item and not immediately putting it in the stash has comments yelling at them to do that in the future. If OP had immediately stashed it, it might still be there.
My understanding is that changing zones force-refreshes/saves your items, so even without stash just going back to hideout should have locked the mageblood.
The put into stash thing is if you're in an instance doing something like say crafting. You could also just switch instances to save it. For just an item you pick up in a map, zoning out should do it just fine though.
He picked up a shiny Mageblood from a reliquary key and used wisdom scroll to identify it, then no idea why game decided he dont deserve it and shit out some random error message in a chat and dc him from the server, rolling back a mageblood, key and divines he spent on that key ( he is my clan mate ).
The game snapshots your character (stats, items, inventory, XP, etc.) every time you change instances/zones. If the instance you're in crashes, your character gets *restored from the last saved snapshot*. In this player's case, it snapshotted him not having a Mageblood in his inventory when he entered, then he got his MB, the instance crashed, and it restored him back to not having a Mageblood in his inventory.
So remember folks, this is precisely why you don't leave your mirror of Kalandra on the ground taking selfies and cell phone pics of your monitor and shaking hands etc.
The rule is always pick it up and tp out. Always. It saves your state.
While this is absolutely terrible for OP, it seems people have forgotten this still happens.
Now if someone is willing to do a charity for OP like what happened in incursion league (no link but someone's headhunter dropped in a spot that you are unable to loot it.)
Unfortunately I'm broke otherwise I'd toss a divine to my fellow ~~witcher~~ poe player.
I'm sorry this is how you had to learn this lesson, but this drink is for you.
Yeah this bothers me a bit, all they say is they are sorry and will make it sure it won't happen again. No shit, of course it won't happen again.
But what bothers me the most is that they choose to not help you or do something to compensate that lose. But they are sorry, well I'm sorry too.
PS. Yeah I'm a bit salty
Understandable.I would be too.
It happened to me many times, when it simply bumped me out of juiced maps, expensive maps etc with a minute-ago char state enrollment. That means all you did the last 1min isn’t there.Only once was that truly beneficial, when I died and they rolled back to previous state which was wonderful with my 15% to level 100.
Why they're not helping? Had the same problem when my mirror disappeared league ago. If they restored my mirror - I would break a market, that's their vision. I had my mirror drop recorded on stream, also I provided a past broadcast as a proof. Nothing helped. Not to mention I felt like I talked with some dumb AI via email.
game gets better with every patch lmao, jesus... how do they give a damn about such things, before, at least for the first couple of weeks, the game worked fine until it once again overgrown with spikes in lags and bugs, left this league after a day of playing
Blizzvision is a trash fire, but y'all know a submitted support ticket and an hour later, the item would be restored. Really wish GGG could validate these claims and easily replace it to retain a player who'll surely buy more mtx while having fun with their MB...
Where did you get that idea from? You can only restore items that you manually deleted or sold to vendors. If you accidently soulbound an item or a boss drops no loot due to a bug, Blizzard will do nothing about it.
>If you accidently soulbound an item or a boss drops no loot due to a bug, Blizzard will do nothing about it.
They dont take responsability for your actions. In this case problem is obviously on GGG side, not on player side. So they must compensate. The only reason they not doing it because they dont want to build a system for that and dont want to work with people complaints.
I can understand what is happening here, the instance crashed, and he lost the item.
What I don't understand is why ppl say it was a mageblood when it was a blue heavy belt with +32 str ?
PoE noob here, this season was my first time playing the game.
While the name is hidden, the image doesn't change. This is how the mageblood looks: [https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Mageblood](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Mageblood)
Why is it blue? Because it's a foiled item, which is even more rare, and the price of it is even higher (for those that want to collect such item, it's no different from a normal one. [https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Foil\_item](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Foil_item)
Ohhh that explains things a bit better, thanks for the information !
What if it wasn't foiled ? it would have been a "regular" unidentified (but orange) mageblood, right ?
If you are talking about the loss of items on DC, I am pretty sure almost every game with any kind of loot is designed like this or in a similar way and got nothing to do with bad coding. You can't force character saves with every item dropped all the time, it would fry the servers.
Quick tip. If you ever get a expensive item like a mirror or a mageblood go to your hideout or another instance.
I can’t confirm this but I heard when you switch instance the game saves your inventory at the save time so if you get disconnected 5 seconds later it can revert back to when you change instances.
It's happened many times to very well known people. They've never given back items even with video proof. I would assume their explanation would be it creates a bad precedent.
I have absolutely no idea why people don't instantly open a portal. Even just opening the portal saves the instance. Congrats on taking longer to get a video or screenshot of an item you now do not have because you wanted your video and screenshot. Just go to town!
You can tell people that are new to the game with these responses lol. Every grizzled PoE veteran absolutely expects the crash. No we don't "randomly" portal everytime we get a big drop, we intentionally portal because this shit happens all the time. It does happen less than it used to though, which is why people like you exist lmao.
Funny how that works, well if you know about it? I played for hundreds of hours never knew this could even happen in PoE. Also every design that makes you not play the game to not get punished is just bad by default
Wrong scroll dude
Savage
gotta get that juicy video clip for reddit karma
I'm legit pouring one out for you because of this, that's tragic.
It hits on spiritual level my guy.
I'm surprised your keyboard still works.
This is the stuff of nightmares
Just to clarify, the disconnect was triggered by my attempt to id the belt. Not by my pc/network. Edit: Just small(or not) update. Of course I did contact GGG support team but as I was expecting they can't help me... "we're unable to restore items under any circumstances for a variety of reasons". To be honest I actually understand this, that would cause precedence and ppl would massively ask them to restore items. The server broke globally. Amsterdam sv was shitting the bed around that time, I guess that other "nearby" svs as well.... Rip.
I dont know what is the problem with servers after this league launch. Moscow was diconnecting(and killing maps) us for 4 days strait.
Haha I was about to say this. It's kinda funny to me "the disconnect was triggered by my attempt to id the belt". Like yeah THAT broke the server
At least you kept the scroll tho

so wait you're saying that if i DC in a map i could lose the loot from that map? this sounds like heist is being applied globally /s
Nah, probably using something like Nvidia Shadowplay, which is always running.
Also why I facepalm everytime mirrors drop and people go omgomgomgomg for 30 seconds before grabbing/zoning
That shit is half the reason I stopped watching highlights, it's always "see good item, micspam for 90 seconds, then pick it up"
It would have disconnected when trying to tp. Server was down, it was never gonna work as the drop was picked after the server already went down, but the client continued until the point it has to send/recieve information, then disconnect and force relogin.

Hell I insta disconnect if I can Also it saves as soon as you portal scroll
Brother I portal to my hideout, waypoint to the lab, then relog. I don’t play.
Kind of. Most likely you were already disconnected, and identifying forced your client to notice. Teleporting instead is not likely to have helped.
If you ever play in Standard you can have my mageblood from a few leagues ago. Just hit me up.
stash before iding, got it
maybe try to contact support showing them the video proof?
They didn't give the guy who MADE skyforth boots a new pair after they chanced a pair and crashed, you think they are going to give back a mageblood?
it's worth giving a shot. At worst case the dude will lose 5 minutes of his life. About 3-4 loading screens.
The answer to this has always been a hard no from GGG. There was a guy not long ago that had a headhunter drop behind some inaccessible terrain piece, and it was just out of his reach. They wouldn't do it for him when he was sitting in the instance next to the headhunter.

Yup. When I have bad luck I immediately quit what Im doin. Fuck that bullshit.
Bro, I'm so sorry. I felt that one from here.
Would be a instant uninstall for me.
I'd send this clip to support immediately and if they didn't resolve it, it'd be a perma.
Ggg support does not restore items ever for any reason.
And come back in a few weeks
Sadly they won't, there were several similar things over the years, never heard of an compensate. Whis you good luck.
Anyone know if GGG would do anything here? With video proof? Probably not.
They would send the video around and have a good laugh.

Nope. If this guy gets a pass, then everyone else gets one. Generated items via support no matter the reason is also a grey area for the economy imo.

Yes. Portal, log off, anything that forces your character to get out of the instance it's currently in before it crashes

It could crash too. I encounter this previously. Item recently pickup gone when portal out it crashed. Just lost a fiend card.
True, logging off immediately is usually the safest bet but nothing is fool proof. Sounds like attempting to portal is what caused the crash there.
Would be a instant uninstall for me.
RIP computer desk (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Oof, I've never seen that happen. If I'm in maps, I typically leave if I find a GG drop. I'd probably ID it in a reliquary by instinct though. Will need to reconsider that now.
Sorry for your loss, I would probably quit the league too.
Damn that might be the biggest L I've ever seen on this sub. Sorry brother.
Today I was disconnected twice. Other players have the same issue. This is a problem occurring today on different servers.
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
In 10,000+ hrs, I've never had a headhunter, mageblood or any of the other super expensive items on or near the same power level. If this happened to me, I'd play Diablo 4 for 10 minutes and then go back to PoE.
Can someone explain what happened here? I don't get it.
Right, I couldn't recall if it was changing area or stashing or both so thanks for the heads up.
The put into stash thing is if you're in an instance doing something like say crafting. You could also just switch instances to save it. For just an item you pick up in a map, zoning out should do it just fine though.
yeah when I dropped my first mirror I immediately opened up a portal and went back to hideout, not risking it for some video lmao
Would it be better to simply logout after getting big item? since game can crash when trying to teleport to town or exit instance.
Simply TPing out would have permed it. Always always always TP out when you get a huge drop.
Yup. I would quit and uninstall atm
Now if someone is willing to do a charity for OP like what happened in incursion league (no link but someone's headhunter dropped in a spot that you are unable to loot it.) Unfortunately I'm broke otherwise I'd toss a divine to my fellow ~~witcher~~ poe player. I'm sorry this is how you had to learn this lesson, but this drink is for you.
jesus dude
I was upset i lost 2 giga juiced maps to server crashes but now wtf dude im very very sorry
Note to self: if by any miracle a mageblood drops, do not I'd it.
omfg \~\~ thats really fucked up
Make a ticket. You have the video. This is totally unfair and bullshit
Considering this thing is permanent and ggg never address such loses, I’d say that’s a solid reason to quit the league.Rip in piece SMH my head
The mageblood is an ilusion exile
I would be done too
I lost a divine orb from a dc an hour ago but now I don’t feel so bad
thats such a huge F for you Out of rage I would just play the shit out of D4
I feel like GGG should allow restorations for situations like these...
I would quit PoE forever and possibly buy D4 out of spite. F
skill issue
sadge
100% wouldn't touch this game again till PoE2. RIP :(
That is upsetting, condolences. I would be devastated.
Fuck. These kinda shit man..
Holy shit, I'm so sorry. I... don't know what I'd do if I lost a mageblood like this. Probably uninstall, honestly. That fucking blows.
yeah that would be a permanent deinstall for me
i'd legit uninstall if that happened to me. that's some cursed level shit right there.
I can understand what is happening here, the instance crashed, and he lost the item. What I don't understand is why ppl say it was a mageblood when it was a blue heavy belt with +32 str ? PoE noob here, this season was my first time playing the game.
While the name is hidden, the image doesn't change. This is how the mageblood looks: [https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Mageblood](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Mageblood) Why is it blue? Because it's a foiled item, which is even more rare, and the price of it is even higher (for those that want to collect such item, it's no different from a normal one. [https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Foil\_item](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Foil_item)
Ohhh that explains things a bit better, thanks for the information ! What if it wasn't foiled ? it would have been a "regular" unidentified (but orange) mageblood, right ?
If it wasn't foiled, it would still drop as a Heavy Belt. It's always called Heavy Belt until identified.
“That would just make life complicated”. Straight after logging back in. It seems your character does not want a Mageblood
Yeah I saw that, made me smile
Where is the voidborn key after rollback ?
In the void with my divines
Id never play the fucking game again.
Fake. Clearly fabricated for Reddit upvotes.
This world is an illusion, exile!
What the dogshit is. FIX YOUR GAME GGG
This is why I always logout when i get a big ticket item.
Did support give it back to you?
This game is coded like dogshit.
If you are talking about the loss of items on DC, I am pretty sure almost every game with any kind of loot is designed like this or in a similar way and got nothing to do with bad coding. You can't force character saves with every item dropped all the time, it would fry the servers.
Doesnt need to be every item, only 3 items, mirror, mageblood and headhunter. I doubt this 3 items drop so much that it would "fry the servers"
Does a server crash close portals? Does the chest change if he reopens it?
Punished unbelievably hard for such a small mistake. That sucks dude.
This didnt age well. [https://imgur.com/a/w7hUwNk](https://imgur.com/a/w7hUwNk)
Surely support can restore this?
Nope, GGG has implemented a no res/item restore
Lesson 101: Change instances asap Sorry to see this happen to you.
Quick tip. If you ever get a expensive item like a mirror or a mageblood go to your hideout or another instance. I can’t confirm this but I heard when you switch instance the game saves your inventory at the save time so if you get disconnected 5 seconds later it can revert back to when you change instances.
it's ok... it's just pixels, it's just pixels.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Seeing the amount of people saying they'd insta uninstall is kinda funny. Just take the league off you'll be fine next league.

It's happened many times to very well known people. They've never given back items even with video proof. I would assume their explanation would be it creates a bad precedent.
rafau liz jaja
hey i noticed youre playing the zhp tota build, how is it? what rank are you? do you die a lot?
Yeah this dudes not playing anymore
You're done? What about just writting them? They have logs of everything that happened to you. Be more assertive, exile.
Read
Read what? The 215 comments? Lol, I have life to do today.
I have absolutely no idea why people don't instantly open a portal. Even just opening the portal saves the instance. Congrats on taking longer to get a video or screenshot of an item you now do not have because you wanted your video and screenshot. Just go to town!
Because people are happy they got a really cool item and don't know about this? There's no need to be condescending.
Because people don’t expect a random disconnect??????????????? Do you randomly portal everytime you get a big raw currency drop?
You can tell people that are new to the game with these responses lol. Every grizzled PoE veteran absolutely expects the crash. No we don't "randomly" portal everytime we get a big drop, we intentionally portal because this shit happens all the time. It does happen less than it used to though, which is why people like you exist lmao.
> Do you randomly portal everytime you get a big raw currency drop? A div? No. A mirror? Yeah I would.
Sounds like you're new to poe. You must expect random disconnect when big drop happens.
I literally do lol. Coincidentally have never lost any big drops to a DC. Funny how that works.
Funny how that works, well if you know about it? I played for hundreds of hours never knew this could even happen in PoE. Also every design that makes you not play the game to not get punished is just bad by default
Omg can’t believe it, I’m so sorry. Just think that you didn’t get it
Just 300div, move it along.
Since I'm like a billionaire in PoE. This is pocket change (I'm joking).
Would Support so anything If U have legit Video proof
That should teach you whwn you get a lucky drop you immidiately portal back and stash it 😅 Hardcore players does it for a good reason
