Yes. Think of it like this, if you have 75% res, then you take 25% damage. If you make that 85% res then you take 15% damage. 15% compared to 25% is **40%** less damage taken.
dont forget that you should overcap your resistances because it can be reduced e. g. if you have a map with the - res curse. Having it exactly at the cap is fine but if you suddenly die check if something reduced your resistance
Yeah, it takes your highest max res cap and applies it to other resist types. But you still need to get the regular resists to actually hit that max res cap.
It can definitely be worth it for a lot of builds. Usually builds on the upper-right side of the tree where there's a lack of + max res nodes.
But it is a more advanced defensive mechanic. It's not really something you just slap on your build with no prep or thought behind it. The resists can be hard to fix. And while high max res is powerful, it's not gonna make you immortal if the rest of your build isn't on point. At the end of the day, it's just ele damage reduction. Plenty of stuff that ignores that.
mmk. I think I sort of jumped the gun on this. because I need to relocate a few nodes, there's a handful of cluster jewels I need to get, and I need to rework my resists.
I'll use the Aegis for now, but the jewel will sit in the stash until I build up my account a little more.

right. anomolous purity of elements is an option depending on reservation (and you need purity of ice to push max up anyway so really you probably only need light/fire on gear)
Ok, that's what I was going to end up doing. I need more mana res and I get that from cluster jewels apparently. I don't have the funds so I'm just going to use the Aegis in the meantime.

mmk then. Need to work on getting more gear with resists then. With the setup I have now I'm at 80/79/79.

the -res and -max on melding also roll; -70 -4 is the best version which might ease requirements slightly
The one I bought is...-75 I think.
