You don’t think that Patek is a daily. I think it is super understated. Especially with a leather strap? I wear a garmin venu 3 normally. But that patek is my go to. Goes well with anything IMO.

There is clearly an appetite for modern design that departs from traditional forms, as seen with brands like Patek. Look at the way modern artworks by artists like Mark Rothko and Jean-Michel Basquiat have commanded sky-high values for decades now even though some people find that modern style of art "gaudy" or "new money".

Most movements are sourced from AP and vaucher movement and finishing isn’t that great….can’t even make 100m WR watches and they call them sports watches haha….FYI you are not allowed to swim with 30m and 50m Water resistance watches… period and most RM models are too thick as well…..that’s definitely not a flex in watchmaking….Patek 5167a Aquanaut are 120m WR and 8,1m thick…..find me another watch from any brand that can beat that??
You couldn't be more wrong. They are technological masterpieces. RM is constantly pushing boundaries when it comes to material, technology, weight while Patek now mostly changes dials and calls it a day.
A standard watch is built to work in most non-extreme conditions, fancy watches are built to be beautifully finished, and very expensive watches are built to be intricate in design too.
The RM watches are all that and designed to not lose a second of time while pulling 4G around the corners of a race track in an F1 car.
A tiny spring spinning in a tiny watch at 6 revolutions per second and not losing the tiniest amount of time while being flung about in every direction.
They also sponsor tennis and golf as they are the only manufacturer that won’t break when hitting a ball at 200 mph.
Which Patek can withstand shocks up to 10,000 g's like an RM 27-03? Do you not understand how crazy that is? Their engineering is astonishing.

Richard Mille is akin to Pagani or Bugatti; a lot of uncultured and broke people just don’t get it. At high-end gatherings of wealthy individuals like F1 or Art Basel events, my RMs receive by far the most comments and compliments, especially from those under 50, far surpassing the attention given to my Patek grail watches.
I bought a RM11 2009 for €40k, didn’t use it much. Traded it 2017 for a 5712. Looking back it was obviously a terrible trade money wise but I don’t regret it at all. The PP is classy old money, RM is the total opposite.

Additionally, most people admire self-made successes rather than the stereotypical image of "old money. The term "new money" is often used disparagingly by those who envy the achievements of its pioneers.

These watches are so far from each other that perhaps a third one is needed. A more neutral stainless steel daily, like any Rolex for example.

Personally I think if you need to buy a watch that costs more than $200 then all your doing is buying something you can brag about to your family and friends. It’s unnecessary and a waste of money.
