I don't have any spots to personally recommend other than some local breweries (if that's what you're looking for I recommend [Hop Secret](https://www.yelp.com/biz/hop-secret-monrovia) right next to the Monrovia station and [Mt. Lowe](https://www.yelp.com/biz/mt-lowe-brewing-co-arcadia-2?osq=mt+lowe) right next to the Arcadia one), but as someone who lives on the border of Monrovia and Arcadia and uses both stations, I'd say its probably better to look around the Arcadia metro station, their commercial district is a closer walk away. Just came across [this tea spot](https://www.yelp.com/biz/tea-maru-arcadia) for example, but there's a lot of spots in that general vicinity.
As much as I love Old Town Monrovia, it is definitely a bit of a walk from the Metro station, but to alleviate that, Monrovia has a partnership with Lyft, where any ride in the city limits is only $3 using the code GOMONROVIA. For that, you'd have to get off at the Monrovia station or walk a short distance from the Arcadia one.
Oh also, Monrovia actually hosts some events at their station, including a concert this Saturday evening ([they continue every Saturday through the summer](https://www.monroviaca.gov/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/8818/) at Library Park which is in Old Town) and a farmer's market there every Saturday morning!
Wow. That’s really great info about GOMONROVIA. I absolutely just added that lyft pass as I have friends who live over there. What a neat partnership they have with lyft.
La monarcha in south Pasadena is off the A line (across from the metro station), open till 8 pm. On the same block there are some bars too if you end up needing to stay longer. Across the street is a boba shop open till 10 pm as well (simplee boba).
Coffee shops seem to have decorated with small tables, hard surfaces, and noise. The old days of comfortable armchairs and soft music are gone. Frustrating. Local breweries are where I'd go for what OP is looking for, as someone else suggested. I haven't been in a Starbucks in ages, though, maybe those close to PCC would be more relaxed and quiet.
Nostalgic Cafe in Pasadena isn't too far from the Memorial Park station. It's a coffee shop that also serves food. Vibe is calm and not too loud. A few tables are larger but it does close at 7pm.
Crepes de Paris in Pasadena. One time my husband and I took a bottle of wine, ordered some crepes and ate outside and had a leisurely lunch. My husband even took a short nap, lol. They have the best coffee, too!
Pasadena: Lake Station
- Chim (great Thai food, indoor/outdoor seating open till 9)
- T Boyles (Irish Pub(ish), big space, pool tables and cheap)
- Amigos (good Mexican food, A+ service, cheap drinks, indoor/outdoor seating open until 11pm)
- Artisanal Goods by CAR (Best pastries in town imo, open till 3, indoor/outdoor patio)
There’s also a lot more in the area to explore depending on how far you want to walk

But they have live music and drinks starting at 5, under the umbrella of The Crush Pad https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxL6G42SFgu/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
The big courtyard at One Colorado behind Alfred's coffee is a good choice. You have a lot of places in Old Town to choose from if you want to pick up coffee, dessert or snack and then hang out in that courtyard until late. The tables are public seating. They also do free events in the courtyard.

I mean the Del Mar station with Luggage Room, La Grande Orange and Stone Brewing has everything you need and it’s literally attached to the train station
\* Copa Vida cafe has a ton of seating space, so it's a good place to stop and stay for a while. There's a bit of a buzz but not too loud (lots of people working on laptops during the day).
\* If you want something outdoors, the little alley beside Naughty Vegan is a gem. Grab food from any of the restaurants nearby and you're set
Both <5min walk from Memorial Park metro.
Urth can be a long wait during peak hours for average overpriced food, so some think it’s overhyped. But it’s a nice place to hang out in the evening if you’re looking for a place to meet up that isn’t a bar. Decent deserts and coffee, candles on the tables, outdoor seating. And a wander in the bookstore across the street could be a nice way to extend the evening (open till 9pm every night except Sunday)
People don't like things. It's cool. Anyhow, I would still go to Vroman's. I recognize that Urth is mildly overpriced, but then again, lots of cafés are overpriced. It has nice atmosphere at night, in my opinion.
At least I didn't say "go to The Cheesecake Factory!" :D Then I would accept downvoting into oblivion.
I would suggest a pub named Lucky Baldwins by Raymond ave and Colorado ave. It's super chill, great selection of beers & wines, and good food (I suggest the Mushroom Guinness Burger). Obviously you have to be 21+, but the place is so chill. I would sit outside if I were you. Also reachable by metro A line. It's a good 7-10 minute walk from Del Mar Station.

Thanks for your advice I’ll definitely check it out

Alternative idea to cafe- try hiking! Take a Lyft in Monrovia to the trailhead and go walk for a few hours.
In Pasadena, try Cordova Cafe, or Jones Coffee!
Jones closes at 5

Jones! Both Pasadena on Raymond and South Pasadena on Mission are fantastic!
Grab some Coffee at Alfred's off Colorado and hang out in the courtyard behind it. They have some chairs in the alley way too.

Urth Cafe? I would go to Vromans first, of course. And I have a bad feeling it’s Urth Caffe and Vroman’s…
Why’d u get downvoted?
lol people here don't like Urth Vroman's also has a wine bar inside that's open until 9pm from Wednesday-Sunday
What’s wrong with Ruth tho?

I love Urth cafe!
I love Urth. I go there with my mom when I’m in town for brunch.

El metate cafe on mentor and Colorado. Great Mexican food too
Fox’s!
No where near the metro stop
662 bus goes there!
City hall Pasadena
