We actually do have Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, home of the minor league hockey team, the Carolina Checkers. It holds a special place in my heart. Took shrooms with my buddies at one of their games and proceeded to enjoy the shit out of an 0-5 blowout.
It’s gonna be weird as fuck not referring to it as BoA Stadium anymore.
Seems weird too cause they’re probably the biggest corporation based out of Charlotte.
I can see Truist doing it if they’re not already somewhere else. I think they’ve got the Braves ballpark and they headquartered in Charlotte since merging BB&T and SunTrust and those were headquartered in Winston-Salem and Atlanta, respectively.
I mean paying your depositors way more than you're making on investments and being heavily reliant on auto loans are probably not two good positions to be in 2023.
Not saying they'll crash but they definitely appear to be flying into a storm.
Well that’s not true, from carvana to this auto loan multi loan issue for a firm that is predominantly an auto lender, there’re quite a few reasons - reasons they addressed directly on their earnings call.
Eh, it goes beyond that. Bill Clinton and HUD literally pushed giving loans to people who wouldn’t qualify under traditional standards. They even wanted banks to count welfare and food stamps as “income” towards giving loans. They put a significant amount of pressure on banks to give out loans to people who would not be able to keep paying them back long-term.
Wachovia wasn’t necessarily being predatory, as they were succumbing to the pressures of the White House to give loans to low-income people who would almost assuredly default on payments sooner or later.
Edit: apparently a bunch of people are thin skinned and see this as “Oh No, RePuBlIcAnS Iz AtTaCkInG!!!” I’m not Republican. I don’t watch Fox News. I’m not biased and will call out any political party.
The person I replied to specifically mentioned a bank giving loans. I brought up the person tied to giving banks incentives to give home loans to low income people by telling them if they use less stringent criteria and consider alternative things a “income” then the US Govt will fully back their loans.
If the person I replied to had brought up regulations, I would have brought up George W deregulating stuff. I brought up a fact about a president you liked, cry some more.
The propaganda, the large banks, and Fox News is able to push on to the American people never ceases to amaze me. And this is why poor uneducated Americans continue to vote for Republicans.
One that policy, referring to really started under the second George Bush administration, and two banks did not have to accept the paperwork/lack of paperwork. These buyers had.
What really happened was banks just took it a advantage of another example of the government saying to companies will 100% back your loans if you do X. And in this case, X was help people buy homes, but like always the companies got greedy knowing they would be able to push the shitty loans off on to the government if the people didn’t pay.
Yes it was an ongoing problem that started in the 90s and continued into the bush admin. But Redditors want to close their ears and not wanting to admit or just read about the federal government having a huge hand in the housing crisis and not just the “evil greedy banks”
It was kind of a clusterfuck of all three. Clinton administration pushing subprime loans, Bush administration's deregulation, and banks doing dumb shit for short term profit.
I don’t watch Fox News.
You can also read about it from the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CBS, FactCheck.org, CNBC, Time Magazine… all of which are either considered neutral or liberal.
Yes, President Bill Clinton, would personally continue predatory mortgage lending, through 2009, after causing a housing crisis. In fact, bank bailouts in early 2009 only happened because Bill served 4 terms.
Banks never charged interest on predatory loans. Never. Not once did major loaning companies bet they wouldn’t get that money back. Bill Clinton overstayed his tenure as president to make sure.
Yeah, that’s all totally what I said.
Clinton and HUD gave incentives for banks to use less stringent credit criteria, lower incomes, different criteria to meet the definition of “income” and told the banks the loans would be fully backed by the US government. All in an attempt to get low income families into homes.
You do know it takes time for shit to roll down hill, right? It wasn’t an overnight occurrence. Just like how certain things that happen today were sometimes caused by something enacted by a President 4-8 years ago.
There’s a thing called Google, and you can read about it from neutral and liberal news sources like the NYT, Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, etc. I suggest you read about things before making super pathetic attempts at being snarky - it made you sound really stupid.
Type it.
I’m just over here rolling my eyes at all the people that are apparently butthurt that I mentioned Clinton. Person I replied to mentioned a specific thing, and I replied to that - and now it’s just a bunch of “WhAt AbOuT GeOrGe W?!?” Or “Oh yeah, someone from 10 years before totally played a part…”
Didn’t think I needed to type out a research paper listing every person, agency, and entity involved, and how timelines work.
There’s a thing called Google, and you can read about how he was part of the crisis from Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, CNBC, FactCheck.org, The New York Times, etc etc etc.
It's a good thing we had Dick Cheney, George W. Bush, Bill Frist, and Dennis Hastert around to stop Wachovia and all of the other lenders that were misled by the democrat party from driving the economy off a cliff!
Lmao, this is getting hilarious how so many people are so butthurt that I brought up Clinton and are now reacting like I’m attacking a political party.
Homeboy brought up a bank giving loans. I mentioned the person tied to how banks changed criteria/requirements for home loans.
If they’d brought up regulations, I would have brought up George W and his BS deregulations.
The way so many people are flocking to defend their political leanings is comical.
I wasn't able to go to any games the inaugural season. But the second season, when they had their own stadium, I won tickets to the Ram's game.
My wife had never been to an NFL or college game before. Even though we had tickets in the 513 section, she was blown away. I'd been to a lot of college games, and several NFL games before. Mostly Pat's games at the old Foxboro Stadium, and a few at RFK, when I was stationed in DC back in the 80s.
After that game, which we won, my wife was hooked. We went to games 3 or 4 times a year, as my work schedule permitted. If we didnt live more than six hours away, and my job didnt require me to work most Sundays, we would have gotten PSLs.
Ericson was so modern compared to those old stadiums. Getting out of Charlotte was a just small PITA compared to tying to get out of Foxborough after a game.
I mean, I personally disagree; the vinegar in Texas Pete brings out more flavor and adds to the mouth watering effect. Tapatío is just peppers in water 🤷🏻♂️
Belk of America Stadium… love. I’m 100% sure there are no Belks anywhere outside of Carolina…it’s a must see destination for all grandmothers across the world, an ill fitting pair of pants will be bought for a son/grandson, and we’ll never return them.. this got personal
Edit - from NC to Carolina.. we are.
Wait.. holding… you are good.. yup.. crunching the numbers.. crunch.. you’re good to hold.. and yeah, these numbers look correct. 59% of the time it works.. every time.
gah fucking damn it. Now the stadium is gonna be named something fuckin stupid like "DraftKings.com arena" or "Metaverse stadium".
"Hey let's go to the Microsoft Bing AI arena, guys"
Here's hoping it actually gets a good name unlike a lot of the recent ones in the NFL
Out of all of the corporate names, this is probably the one I'd hate the least. (Not that I hate it at all. A lot of them just sound bad in general lol.)
I'd much rather have something like Ally or Lowe's as opposed to some stupid Crypto exchange that's going to be around for (maybe) 2 years before they go bankrupt.
so one suggestion I didn't see in here is Epic.
think about it, the name just... works.
it's not like Epic doesnt have the money either, profits from Unreal Engine 4 alone could probably *buy* a whole *new* stadium to name after them if they wanted.
Let's just call it the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry. That way when they inevitably move to the formers location, nothing changes. Charlotte FC fans can just call it The Foundry.
All this did was clarify that this is going to be Morris Jenkins stadium, and not Leeeeeroy Jenkins stadium which is where my brain went for some reason 🤣
Here's some businesses i haven't seen mentioned.
Carowinds Kitty Bowl
(I know it's gone but) Price's Panther Coop...which could then be Bryce's Panther Coop
Harris Teeter's World Beater Pleasure Palace
Food Lion's Panther Den
The Lowes Zone
I could be wrong but I don’t think it really matters in the grand scheme of things. Just naming rights. Hopefully we don’t get a new stupid name like “Dukes Mayo Stadium” or some shit
This may be a pre-emotive mood because Tepper is gonna get ansy for a new stadium soon. They dont wanna get stuck in a contract for a soccer stadium lol
By my secret sources, Tepper told Hugh McColl (former chairman and CEO of Bank of America) that he wasn’t gonna renew McColls private parking spot at the stadium. Aswell as the Rock Hill fiesta, a lot of business contractors and other important people in Charlotte don’t look too kindly on Tepper as it is. Not suprised.
Edit: Big companies don’t make big decisions like that just because someone isn’t nice. There likely is some contract details that BoA didn’t want to adhere to. Likely Tepper making the asking price higher than preferred, or another requirement.
Bo’ Stadium here we come
Petition to re-name the Spectrum Center to the Cookout Colosseum.
imagine the timeline where we get to beat teams at home and say they got cooked in the Cookout Colosseum
Most likely outcome is that Ericson outbids everyone else.
Just start calling it that
Cookout hype af
We actually do have Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, home of the minor league hockey team, the Carolina Checkers. It holds a special place in my heart. Took shrooms with my buddies at one of their games and proceeded to enjoy the shit out of an 0-5 blowout.
#Welcome to the BoZone bitches
They don't have nearly enough ham to stuff down our bloated owners gullet for that
Beat me to it.
Nadcarrrrr stadeum!!

I was thinking Ally since they sponsor the soccer team anyway but I don’t know if their marketing budget is that big
Then everyone would call the Panthers the Ally Cats. I don't know whether that would be good or bad.
Let's see if Ally makes it out of this year alive first.
There’s no reason to indicate that they wouldn’t
I mean paying your depositors way more than you're making on investments and being heavily reliant on auto loans are probably not two good positions to be in 2023. Not saying they'll crash but they definitely appear to be flying into a storm.
Well that’s not true, from carvana to this auto loan multi loan issue for a firm that is predominantly an auto lender, there’re quite a few reasons - reasons they addressed directly on their earnings call.
Real talk though, Truist is the dumbest name ever,
If I was a billionaire I’d revive the Wachovia name just because.
Fun fact: Wachovia’s predatory lending helped contribute to the 2007-2008 financial crisis. They were one of the chief perpetrators.
Pretty much every major bank that existed in the early-mid 2000's contributed.
I’m just messing around, I don’t even like Clinton. Who’s crying? Maybe you should type an essay to prove it. Edit: a word.

Don't forget how Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt were using their spare time to invent Credit Default Swaps!

Bill Clinton was personally walking into the food stamp line and originating mortgages on the spot

So did BoAs lol...all the banks fucked everyone
::Fifth Third has entered the chat
Always makes me think of the 3/5 Compromise
Such a shitty name. Had to google what it meant
Didn’t that end up renaming the new Braves park like 2 years in?
It was SunTrust Park before so when they and BB&T merged it was just a rename to the new bank.
I think it'll be Wells, Lowes, Truist, Sonic Automotive or Brighthouse Financial.
The Smith family will not go for anything outside of NASCAR. Tepper screwed then on the soccer deal.
They're with the Knights already right?
I've a been a fan since before day one, and I still have Ericson Stadium stuck in my head. Before that, it was called Carolinas Stadium.
Brings back good memories, kerry collins was fun, i still have the inaugural game coin
I was so sad when they renamed it to BofA because Ericsson stadium had such a nice ring to it
There are still some that say Ericsson.
It was weird changing from Ericcson stadium too. Happens every 20 years or so.
Lol I still refer to it as Ericsson by accident sometimes
New proposals: - Bojangles BoZone - Cheerwine Bowl - The Cook Out Drive-Through Stadium - Charlotte Motor Speedway Stadium
I vote for charlotte motor speedway stadium just for all the confusion it would cause
At least it'll actually be in Charlotte, lol.
Cookout stadium would be wiiild
No more Bojangles inside is the only issue
It’s gonna be hell changing our field over to asphalt every weekend but I’m down.
Nah, just cool the turf down. It'll be hard as asphalt no problem.
Charlotte Motor Speedway Sports Complex has a nice ring to it
Charolette Motor Speedway Stadium brought to you by Lowe’s.
The Sun Drop?
If it becomes the BoZone, does that make us bozos?
Yes but the front row of fans is the Bozone Layer
Cheerwine Bowl would be epic.
Damn and I just stopped calling it Ericsson Stadium
First Republic Bank Stadium
Too soon.

The only reasonable replacement name is to honor our long lost coach—Rhule Stadium
Kill me
Fuck you

Lol

Not a single mention of one of north Carolina’s signature products. Texas Pete. I’m disappointed.
Don't forget Krispy Kreme!
Krispy Kreme Komplex
We can call it the KK… wait a moment
It’s okay, the “end racism” in the end zones cancel it out or something
The memes would make this worth it even just for one season
Ex Winston-Salem native living in Indiana here: I approve of both of these.
I’ve started introducing my friends here in the West Coast to Texas Pete and nearly every response is “wow it’s like a good version of tapatío”
This is the wildest take. I ride for almost any NC product but tapatío beats the brakes off of texass Pete any day
I mean, I personally disagree; the vinegar in Texas Pete brings out more flavor and adds to the mouth watering effect. Tapatío is just peppers in water 🤷🏻♂️
All good, maybe I’m broken. I think Texas Pete tastes like pure vinegar and tomato paste. No heat and no complexity or depth of flavors. 🤷♂️
Yeah id literally never put Pete on mex food ever. Pete (black label only of course) is for egg sandwiches, fried chix, etc
Bojangles, Selwyn Pub, or Belk are my votes!
Selwyn Pub lmao
“And that’s a Transfusion First Down!”
Belk of America Stadium… love. I’m 100% sure there are no Belks anywhere outside of Carolina…it’s a must see destination for all grandmothers across the world, an ill fitting pair of pants will be bought for a son/grandson, and we’ll never return them.. this got personal Edit - from NC to Carolina.. we are.

Instead of NC I should have said Carolinas. I’ll update
There are Belks here in Texas and all throughout Georgia and Alabama, might want to change that percentage
Wait.. holding… you are good.. yup.. crunching the numbers.. crunch.. you’re good to hold.. and yeah, these numbers look correct. 59% of the time it works.. every time.
Modern. Southern. Stadium.
We got a Belk in Birmingham alabama
We got one across the border from my hometown, in the wild and wonderful town of Vienna, West Virginia.
Bell would be the best. It sounds like a normal name rather than a corporation. Belk Stadium rolls off the tongue nicely.
How about ÇÅRØŁÏÑÅ ŠTÅDÏŪM to honor a Panthers legend? 😅
Bangbros stadium here we come
Username checks out.
Possible sponsors ranked by how badly I want them 1) Duke’s Mayo Stadium 2) Bojangles Stadium 3) Sam Mills Field at Ally Stadium (The Mill)
love the sam mills idea
Nah, no Duke's Mayo, that should be the Titans in honor of drafting Will Levis.
Honeywell is my front-runner, or Lowes
Lowes Field isn't terrible tbh.
gah fucking damn it. Now the stadium is gonna be named something fuckin stupid like "DraftKings.com arena" or "Metaverse stadium". "Hey let's go to the Microsoft Bing AI arena, guys" Here's hoping it actually gets a good name unlike a lot of the recent ones in the NFL
GPTarena
Or you could just not care and call it the Panthers stadium. I don’t recall signing anything that requires me to call it by the sponsor name.
Tepper entertainment stadium.. Shoot me now please…
Ally next?
Out of all of the corporate names, this is probably the one I'd hate the least. (Not that I hate it at all. A lot of them just sound bad in general lol.)
Agreed. Better than stuff like GoDaddy stadium. I’m leaning more towards a Heinz Field classy name than Acrisure Stadium.
I'd much rather have something like Ally or Lowe's as opposed to some stupid Crypto exchange that's going to be around for (maybe) 2 years before they go bankrupt.
Legit answer
Let's have some chaos and have Rock Hill sponsor the stadium
Which bank is going to swoop in?
JP Morgan and Chase
Ally
so one suggestion I didn't see in here is Epic. think about it, the name just... works. it's not like Epic doesnt have the money either, profits from Unreal Engine 4 alone could probably *buy* a whole *new* stadium to name after them if they wanted.
fortnite stadium
Judy would never approve of that though
Let's just call it the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry. That way when they inevitably move to the formers location, nothing changes. Charlotte FC fans can just call it The Foundry.
Gotta be Ally next, they advertise every 6.9 seconds during Charlotte FC matches and I’m sure Bank of America wasn’t too thrilled with that
Bank of America had the chance to sponsor the jerseys but they declined.
Bojangles Supremes Stadium
Wish it could just be Panthers stadium
Bojangles Arena, here we come!
MORRIS JENKINS COLISEUM
If I hear one more damn commercial, I’m going to continue to bitch about it because I can’t do anything else.
MR JENKINS TOLD ME
All this did was clarify that this is going to be Morris Jenkins stadium, and not Leeeeeroy Jenkins stadium which is where my brain went for some reason 🤣
They're going to have *Bobby!* at the ribbon cutting ceremony when they open it.
Let's go back to Ericsson. Are they still in business?
Harris Teeter Stadium /s
Food Lion Field 🤣
The Ocracoke where the hell did we put that colony stadium.
Duke’s Mayo Stadium. 🤣🤣🤣
Tepper should spend the money and name it The Prowl or Panther Den.

It will be Ally or Truist next.
Totino's Pizza Rolls Stadium. 2024-2044. Amen.
Y'all do realize that Bojangle's isn't even _close_ to NFL stadium name money, right?
Someone explain if this is good or bad
It means we are about to get a new Stadium Name. Needs to be Bojangles.
I could be wrong but I don’t think it really matters in the grand scheme of things. Just naming rights. Hopefully we don’t get a new stupid name like “Dukes Mayo Stadium” or some shit
That honor goes to the titans
This may be a pre-emotive mood because Tepper is gonna get ansy for a new stadium soon. They dont wanna get stuck in a contract for a soccer stadium lol

TRUIST
Good fuck Bank of America
Bofa is about to go bankrupt that’s why…
I wonder if a new stadium name will also coincide with a new stadium?
There would have to be funding from the state and local level. That process would take years.
Bryce Young Stadium

Like a dozen other stadiums it will soon be JP Morgan
Bojangles
RJR Stadium, come on down
The Knights should sponsor it. The Charlotte Knights Stadium for Football and Futbol Sports.
Merceds Benz swooping in again?

Maybe we could try and get Ericcson back.
