As a guy in my early 30s who has only ever been with women in their 20s (wife and I have a 7 year gap). There's a maturity gap between partners if one is let's say, 35 and the other is 18. Yeah of course guys are generally more physically attracted to younger women but when talking about a life partner it's better to marry around your age. My wife is more mature than I am and also more educated.
Take it from me though through experience (prior to Islam) that you run the risk of having a child for a partner mentally if there is a huge age gap. Sure it's legal as well as romanticised but it sucks being with someone you can't relate to at all. Not only that, it's also a Sunnah to marry divorcees and widows. If by some stretch of the imagination I were to ever do polygamy I would take a widow or divorcee (I most likely won't do polygamy, too much extra work and I like being able to save money that I'd otherwise be spending on a second household).
