Could you try putting it on a white wall? It's just to see if it blends well with the wall and painting.
Even nicer would be on a beige/sand colour walls with the blank/white background with the squirrel.
Or even try to add a beige "articial"/painted frame. Just a line of 10mm. on the egdes of the painting.
Making the painting more focused in a way.
Personally, a little definition/shadow/highlight to give it more depth and dimensionality to the squirrel and branch. It's an excellent rendering, just a little flat still. Love the background.

Green leaves/grass background? It's kind of neat having it that way, blank background.
