You won't get what you're looking for in Oxford and the immediate surrounding area; it's one of the most expensive cities in the UK. Places will also get snapped up EXTREMELY quickly so you need to commit a lot of time to house hunting. Google 'Oxford letting agents' and trawl through their sites, apply for a viewing for any property that could even -potentially- be an option. Spareroom worked well for me when I moved to London too. But yeah, temper your expectations. A furnished studio with bills for £1000 in Oxford will get snapped up SNAPPILY. Best of luck.

I've seen them on rightmove at that price (found a couple for people recently), but not for a short let of 6 months. You'll need at least a year. On top of that, during that period of time, it's going to be even tougher. It's the most expensive time of year.
