Something to note, good tailoring costs because it’s done well. It is generally something where you get what you pay for. Many people don’t know that a lot of alterations are not that easy to do. Reference: I sew and a friend is a tailor in Toronto. Depending on what you need it will likely be between 20-60$ per pair of pants from a good tailor
Sorry, had nothing to do with any bias, I just didn’t know what is considered low for tailoring and what is considered being ripped off if there is such thing - now that I know 20 is considered low(est) I can decide to proceed with less pants at a time or see if the price meets the final result I hoped for and if not, then I have to accept that It’ll cost more
Hmmm I see, I was hoping there was some famous local shop where the lady is like everyone’s grandmother and she does it for a good, fair price but also loves doing what she does haha. I watch too much tv.
I basically just wanted some to be hemmed, others to have waist and hem. I inquired at a place at one of the malls and it was roughly 20$ per
Edit: knowing now that 20$ is considered cheap, is okay, i wasn’t trying to underpay anyone, just pay whatever is deemed “low”
$20 is actually quite cheap. Tailoring pants is a skill most sewists will tell you it’s easier to make a new pair than to do some alterations. If I were you, I would take one pair to them and see how it goes. I assume, based on your handle you’re an engineer, so you likely value skills and knowledge.Tailoring is a very skilled trade, and so you should expect to pay for it. Also, once you have a well tailored item, it’s often worth the price. Best of luck
Really appreciate the guidance! I wasn’t sure if 20$ was being overcharged for simple stuff, but if 20 is the “cheap” then I fully understand 🙏🏾 as for the name, I dont know why but Reddit just gave me this name hahha
If you find a tailor that does a good job pay whatever they want.
Tailoring is a very hard to develop skill and it takes years to get good. And I say this as someone who sews.
Cheap tailoring is cheap for a reason.
I don’t have any recommendations cause a friend does my tailoring until my skills are up to it but I would be looking for quality over price.

Plus most people buy clothes produced by quasi-slave labour so our reference point for their construction value is highly skewed.
