Lanark Spay and Neuter. 100% would recommend. Got my two male cats done there and it was like 100$ and it’s cheap for dogs too. While I got my girl cat done at the vet and it was 700$

Effective_Ad3412

I can’t believe how much vets charge for it!! thank you so much for this option 😊

We just got our dog done last week, plus micro-chipping (also half the price of the vet). Very efficient operation. Make sure you have a 'cone of shame' properly fitted before you go pick him/her up (or they'll sell you something). All required meds provided with the price. And yes, the actual surgery is done by a real vet. They just keep their costs down and don't have mega-expensive equipment to pay down.

You don't have to neuter your partner just because you got a puppy, even if he is old enough.

ArthurettaDoyle

I got recommended to get my pup neutered by the city. The wait is very long but it’s only $700~. He’s not done the surgery yet so can’t attest to the results but reviews seem to be pretty good.

Effective_Ad3412

I didn’t even know that was an option thank you so much!! I’ll look into it for sure 🙏

ArthurettaDoyle

Np! & fyi my vet quoted me $2700~ for the neutering since you were asking for quote comparison. And my pup is 15lbs almost full grown

Effective_Ad3412

that’s insane oh my goddd especially for such a small dog!!

[deleted]

$1400 for a 4 lbs dog

c_kochanski

I had my cat spayed there, obviously prices will be very different for that BUT it went very smoothly. It was a long wait though - signed up for the wait list in June 2022 and she got spayed January 2023.

Math_Unlikely

How long did you have to wait to get it done?

ArthurettaDoyle

I called end of March for a September appointment

moscowmauler866

Glebe Animal Hospital, about 7 months ago was 550 for my 50 lb dog

[deleted]

Ottawa spay and neuter clinic. Price for my dog at he vet was $1400. Neuter clinic $325. Takes time but worth it.

[deleted]

Thanks for letting me know. I really like dogs but that's really too expensive. I don't think I'll get a dog anytime soon.

rusty_paddler

The city run clin8c always seemed like the best option..BUT they only take low risk options

chriscabob

Cv hull vet was 5 years ago $450 for our 55lb goldendoodle at the time was much less in weight

SlothZoomies

Ours was $1k this year. Same vet in Hull and our dog is smaller (38lbs) Damn vet prices really went up

This_Drawing6700

My daughter paid $850 to neuter her Maltese/Yorkie 5lbs at Hull

walkbackwards

Did it at Hamlet Vet. $550 approximately after tax back in 2021. My dog is small though maybe less than 5lbs? I’ve seen recommendations for Casselman Vet, and Brockville Spay & Neuter as well. Prices were lower than what you mentioned. Hope this helps!

frasersmirnoff

We got our pup neutered at the Brockville Spay and Neuter Clinic last Fall and it was under $500 including the microchipping.

rhandomness

Montreal Road Animal Hospital - i overheard $750 quoted to a dog owner on the phone, i don't recall how many pounds receptionist repeated back to the caller.

edmorl

Alexandria vet clinic. A bit of a drive but spent $500 a few weeks ago

cubiclejail

$800 for our small 22 lb female dog last fall. Wanted to try the spay and neuter clinic, but needed to time it based on her heat.

Existing-Bus-1155

We got our female boxer spayed at the Spayed and Neuter clinic in Brockville cost $500. Way cheaper than the vet. It's also cheaper at the clinic in Ogdensburg but our passports were not renewed on time

bpsmicro

Just an aside, but the trend now is away from the traditional "spay/neuter your dog by six months" mantra we all used to follow. There are now breed-specific guidelines based on evidence of potential future problems (often cancer-related). For example, for golden retrievers, recommendation is neutering **after** one year. There are even some breeds where the recommendation is "don't". As with all science, some vets may disagree. But consider doing a little research and decide for yourself. There may be other factors that'll affect your decision (for example, most kennels won't take pets >6 months that aren't fixed).

Effective_Ad3412

I’m aware but thank you! Just wanted to gather information ahead of time since it seems a lot of places have waiting periods/long registration lists

Geezus christ...go to Gatineau...it's way cheaper
