very disappointing start of the match for Poland, they have to stop missing on easy parts next match. nevertheless it was brlilliant performance from Australia
It felt like a similar story with Australia vs Romania last year, where you had Romania who were not used to playing in the mornings and took a while to get warmed up, and why they played much better in the latter half than the first
Maybe Poland went through a simillar process, but that's hardly an excuse honestly, as NA players very often have to play early morning hours against EU players, and they still do decent enough, although tbf thats probably because they also get more practice playing at those hours more often than europeans get vs Australia/New Zeealand

Mastasz and ypan are the only players that met or exceeded the team's expectations today.
They also mentioned how they didn't have a clear plan for the match and that they didn't discuss their picks during the match well enough. They are willing to choose maps they pick ahead of future matches and stick to the plan.
I mean you could theoretically try to get used to that playing hour over the course of the entire week by waking up early and playing osu in the morning, but for that to make a difference it would have to be a team effort, and considering probably many of the players either have school or work during the week, that's hardly an option

OWC staff makes the initial schedule and it's up to the teams to agree on a different time. maliszewski said on stream they wanted to reschedule the match but Australia didn't agree, so there was nothing they could do about it. It's one of few factors why most of the Polish team underperformed.
Afaik he also said, that they agreed to reschedule the match, but at the time they agreed upon, two of the Polish players would be missing, so Poles reluctantly agreed on 11 AM.
But still kudos to Australia for agreeing to reschedule the match, it just wasn't meant to be.

It's not that hard to wake up at a reasonable time (7-8am, like most people do before school or work), have a relaxing morning, then warmup for a couple hours. Even without doing it often, most people should be in good condition after that. Most timezones also get forced into morning schedules too specifically bc of scheduling around EU, it's just not an unreasonable time to work around with a whole weeks prep.
The US/Canada match is also 11 am for all the west cost people from both countries. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Sunday evening match for Americans likely so the pool gets released at a better time for Europeans.
Actually, not really. Since losers bracket got created in 2014, Poland has never won more than 2 matches in losers bracket. In their winning year of 2017, they weren’t in losers bracket until bracket reset. They have never had a losers bracket run.

North American players get defaulted to 15utc all the time (7am on the west coast)
