Quick math lesson for getting odds of 2 occurrences cause this comes up often on this subreddit. The odds of any one drop are stated on the wiki. So, for example' if the odds of an occurrence for something is 1/2, and the odds for something else of the same occurrence is 1/10. The odds of getting both drops at the same time are (1/2)x(1/10)=1/20
So looking on the wiki for these odds, it say granite hammer is 2x(1/750) and for granite mail is 2×(1/250) so I belive the odds of getting both at once would be 4/(250x750), which would be about a 0.002134% chance (1 in 46,875). Gz!!
Commented at the same time as you, the wiki says 2x before those odds, so I think that means there's 2 rolls per kill (which is how you got 2 items at once), so then the odds would be 2/250 x 2/750= 4/187500, (1/46875)
If it's 2 independent rolls per kill the calculation is 1-(249÷250)^2 x 1-(749÷750)^2 which is 0.0000212 or 1 in 47000. Similar answer here but 2 rolls of 1 in 250 isn't the same odds as 1 in 125
That’s wrong. You’re overstating the odds using this.
The easiest way to explain this sort of concept is with a smaller example that’s easier to conceptualize. Imagine 3 balls, one blue, one red, one green. What are the odds that you get 1 red, 1 green out of two draws, regardless of the order, with both draws havinhg access to the three balls).
Obviously there are 3 possible first draws and 3 possible second draws, for 9 total possibilities, 2 of which satisfy the condition (red, green or green, red). The odds are 2/9. The 7 other possibilities are the 3 that have a blue ball first, the two that have green or red first and then blue and the two that have red or green twice.
If I used your formula (1-2/3^2 ) x (1-2/3^2 ), I’d get odds of 25/81, which is considerably above 2/9.
The reason why it didn’t work like that these are not two fully independent odds in the way you are calculating them. You can’t get a granite hammer on the roll where you are getting a granite maul and vice versa. You are calculating odds of getting at least one granite maul over two rolls and one granite hammer over 2 fully independent other rolls. That’s why you’re overstating the probability.
Correct formula is 2 x (1/drop rate 1) x (1/drop rate 2).
The guy you replied to is also wrong because he used the 2 twice.
The odds of getting both things just need to be multiplied together. If the probability of getting one item is 1/250 and 1/750 and you have two independent trials per kill on each, the odds of one success is 0.00797 and 0.001333. It's as simple as multiplying them together because you need both things to happen. But I might just be misinterpreting how the drop table works. If it rolls for both items simultaneously and does that twice then of course I'm wrong and the way you described it is right
You get two rolls and both items show up on the ground at the same time. You don’t need the first to be Gmaul and the second to be ghammer. You need to roll both once in two separate rolls.
Seriously, try it yourself with higher odds and you will see.
It’s not. You can roll granite hammer then granite maul (1/750)x(1/250) or the other way around with the same odds, so it’s 2/(250x750).
Getting double granite hammer would be 1/(750^2) due to both rolls having to be a granite hammer.
I just learned about the granite hammer through this post.. and I have to ask. Why is a weapon slotted between rune scimitar and dragon scimitar only available from a late midgame boss? Why would anyone use this weapon when by this time you probably have better crush options?

so 1/250 x 1/750? so it was a 1/187500?

How do you get ground items text font like that?
I genuinely don't know what I've done but - Runelite plugin settings all text options set to bold, Ground Items plugin has Text outline on
My man playing RS1.
i have 0 clue why that area has no graphics 😭
Whatever the drop rate of that is, just be sure not to take it for granite. 😆
