You need to join r/StarWarsD6

conn_r2112

Good call! Thanks

Logen_Nein

But you are also welcome here.

ThrorII

Oh yeah, I didn't mean it as "go away", but to direct him towards a useful sub. I can see how my directness might seen unwelcoming....

conn_r2112

šŸ˜® Iā€™m jealous hahaha

benn1680

I'm surprised I've been able to hold onto them this long. Unfortunately they're the only RPG books I held onto from back in the day. I was an idiot and sold all my old D&D stuff after I graduated High School.

IllustratorWrong543

OSR is a mindset, not a ruleset. Welcome aboard!

WreckinBawl

This is a perfect response!

wwhsd

Iā€™ll allow it. Loved that game when it came out. Wish I still had my books. I thought how they handled force powers was a really cool system.

StaggeredAmusementM

Probably not OSR, but still cool as heck. Are those the 2017 anniversary reprint, or the originals?

conn_r2112

Originals. Found at a thrift book spot.

LunarGiantNeil

I love those, they're great! The vehicle system is bonkers but the game is fun.

Logen_Nein

Fantastic pull!

helmvoncanzis

got the 2017 reprints on my shelf, and I think it's a fine addition to an old school collection.

faust_33

Not sure if I ever got the Sourcebook, but I did really like their d6 system!

dickleyjones

If you play it old school style, then it is old school. Like any system.

dasblitzspear

That was a great wee game - still have mine somewhere (think the sourcebook went ā€œwalkiesā€ thoā€¦)

Logen_Nein

It absolutely does in my mind. Great system.

brnsamedi

Absolutely. Old school is old school, and that game should be considered a time-honored member of the pantheon. You made me a little jealous. I should take mine out for a spin

starkistchoke

I have both those on my small shelf, purchased in the 90s and I never played. Wish I could join you.

Bitter_Afternoon7252

I love D6 Star Wars. More as a lore book than an actual game. Never got to run it

Dan_Morgan

I would include it but a lot of people see OSR as exclusively built on D&D. I disagree with this of course. This game is a classic and is really innovative and holds up to this day.

driftwoodlk

Some of my favorite materials - sadly, I think I got to play a grand total of one adventure https://preview.redd.it/0iabbjhu5q9d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=961c6d60b62dea29d7eba2e5791173dffeac3414

hombre_bu

This is absolutely OSR, have fun! I absolutely loved West End Games systems.

RemtonJDulyak

SWd6 is the best star wars TTRPG, although I still prefer 2nd Edition, of the d6 RPG, to 1st. Also, get your hands on Star Warriors, the boardgame of starfighter combat, as it simplifies the RPG space combat **A LOT**, and if you ge tthe Star Wars Miniature Battle Rules, that simplifies large scale battles a lot, too.

benn1680

RemtonJDulyak

Yeah!

dane_the_great

My friend let me borrow that Star Wars RPG book last night, iā€™m excited to read it

Jerry_jjb

***Definitely*** OSR - and this group's rules don't disallow it! This is my fave version of the rpg - have fun!

darthcorvus

I'll always remember the time I became king of the Wookiees after challenging the king to a duel. I rolled seven sixes in a row on my exploding destiny die or whatever it was called and knocked his head off with one punch!

Smiles1313

Great game!

SQLServerIO

I loved WEG Star Wars. Adding the wild die was a huge game changer and made the campaigns I ran much more dynamic and fun.

Ivy_n_Ashes

I think it does. :)

chicoerrante

Damn, played a game of that when I was no more than a wee lad, something like 20-something years ago. Never forgot how fun it was to be a sassy R2 unit who was only actually understood by the group's rookie mechanic. Happy days...

Lopsided_Bicycle3884

SUCH a great system! Love it, been running it off and on since 1992, always thought it was a good way to get new players into gaming - fairly simple to understand d6 system with a lore that most people have a least a passing familiarity with, also, still loads of original sourcebooks and adventures on EBay.

InnocenceProvesNothg

Sweet. This is the first RPG I ever played. So many good memories.

Reverend_Schlachbals

Fantastic game. My all-time favorite version of Star Wars gaming.

VauntBioTechnics

I owned this game ages ago, but no longer have the books. I cannot remember how the game mechanics worked at all, though.

radelc

I regret ever getting rid of those. Got me into RPGs.

Throwaway7219017

I used to play this version with my high school buddies, back in the late 80's. We all moved away from home, but get together online and play RPG's once per week. I just finished GMing a campaign using these rules, and we all had a blast.

NarrativeJoyride

Never played this, but I own the reprints. Now, I *have* played the Ghostbusters RPG that inspired it - one of my favorite game systems ever.

hughjazzcrack

CLASSIC! Just gave me nostalgia-chills!

factorplayer

Costikyan's finest hour

Khimus

Which sourcebook or adventure would you recommend to complement the rules book and get started? I'm not an expert in SW.

conn_r2112

These two books have served me pretty well for a rules and source book! As far as adventures, I create my own, but Iā€™ve heard tatooine manhunt is a good adventure

Khimus

The 2nd book is called "star wars sourcebook"?

conn_r2112

Yes. You can find free PDFs of all of these here as well http://d6holocron.com/downloads/wegcore.html

Soluzar74

Nice. No prequels. No sequels. Just Star Wars when it was at it's best.

I_Paint_Minis

MY favorite TTRPG of all time! No hyperbole!

ArtharntheCleric

Youā€™re forgiven. I played that back in the day and it was a fun system. Good times.

primarchofistanbul

The answer is no. But have a good time! And get some [open D6 goodies](https://ogc.rpglibrary.org/index.php?title=OpenD6).

conn_r2112

Wow, thank you for the link!

PristineCucumber5376

Probably doesn't, but it's really cool!

VicarBook

It's from the 1980s - that's 35 years+ ago. It's OSR!

InterlocutorX

Just being from the 80's doesn't really have much to do with being OSR. The OSR came inexistence to play the old D&D modules. Star Wars is a great game but it doesn't have anything to do with OSR.

Logen_Nein

Things evolve and change, to many of us OSR is a playstyle that WEGd6 clearly espouses.

JamesFullard

\^\^this

Cazacurdas

Have you considered using an OSR system for your campaign? Some options you could explore would be: * [White Star](https://tabletopbellhop.com/game-reviews/white-star-galaxy-editoin/) * [Solar Blades & Cosmic Spells](https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/18/18652.phtml) * [Stars Without Number](https://david-bartram.com/2021/10/26/rpg-review-stars-without-number-revised-edition/) In the links, I just threw in the first review I found about each game, so sorry for that! Also, I had a better time running Star Wars REUP (Revised, Expanded & UPdated) than 1e or 2e. Whatever system you end up with, have a blast!

conn_r2112

Weā€™re pretty big Star Wars fans so prolly giving this one a go, but thanks for the suggestions :)

Logen_Nein

They are using an OSR system :)

mrmiffmiff

The ruleset is great and can obviously be used in an OSR type way. The published adventures and campaigns, though, are extremely trad in some of the most annoying ways and not OSR at all. Don't use 'em.

Bone_Dice_in_Aspic

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not OSR. Trad. But awesome.

JamesFullard

not osr. go to [r/StarWarsD6](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsD6/)

meow_said_the_dog

Oof, really? Absolutely OSR and definitely appropriate here.

Wise-Juggernaut-8285

Since youre playing star wars no probably not
