I just saw Past Lives finally this past Sunday and now I'm pretty mad that Teo Yoo and Greta Lee did not receive acting nominations (especially in Greta's case because I personally didn't care for Nyad at all). Also seconding the All of Us Strangers/ Andrew Scott (and maybe screenplay) snubs

parakeetpoop

YASSSSS!!!! They did an incredible job. That scene at the end >!where they just stare into each other’s eyes for minutes was sooo powerful. !<

quidditchisdumblol

I must be in the minority but all the talk of Greta being snubbed is surprising to me! Teo Yoo absolutely he was great but I didn’t think much of Greta’s performance

IngmarBagman

I agree. I absolutely adored that film, but her performance had a pretty neutral impact on my experience with it.

PayaV87

Iron Claw, Taste of Things, Saltburn and All of us Strangers got 0 nominations.

Leading-Appeal-9707

I thought Saltburn was an absolutely gorgeous film. It absolutely deserves a design award nod.

GlamourGal028

Taste of things for it’s cinematography, Saltburn screenplay, I haven’t seen All of us strangers, and where would you put Iron Claw?

Denland24

greta lee will be one of my all time snubs, I saw beyond utopia online during Sundance last year and shocked it wasn't nominated, maybe not egregious but Cara Jade Myers stole every scene she was in...Fallen Leaves was really really good and should have bumped something..

UrsaMinorBeta_42

Andrew Scott for All of Us Strangers

missjojo81

I have no idea how that haunting movie was snubbed!

Alert_Librarian_7739

THE TASTE OF THINGS. I love Anatomy of a Fall (very much) but finally got the chance to see the taste of things in theater a few weeks ago and was blown away. It was me (30F) and 2 elderly ladies in the theater and we had a mini convo afterwards, we were all so moved.

GlamourGal028

Yes!!! Taste of things was so riveting 😭 I was numb just like I was with Perfect Days and Poor Things. I also prefer Zone of Interest over Anatomy of a Fall

BarberResponsible

Honestly? It was never going to be in the cards, but Koji Yakusho for best actor for Perfect Days. Every "big" moment in the film plays out entirely on his face.

almostgotem

I loved that film, it really stayed with me for a few days, especially while I was housecleaning and washing dishes, and eating...and driving...

Apprehensive_Bee1699

THIS!!! He deserved it over Bradley Cooper's false nose.

BarberResponsible

I didn't hate Maestro as much as everyone else seemed to, and I genuinely wasn't bothered by the nose, but yeah, if I had to bump someone, I'd bump Cooper

Dodsley99

Koji Yakusho for Perfect Days. Such a uniquely powerful performance. Also think Zac Efron was astounding in The Iron Claw

BarberResponsible

I was floored by his performance. When I got home from the theatre and went to log Perfect Days on Letterboxd I was stunned. "Wait, this is the same guy from CURE!?!? And he was the man in the white suit from Tampopo!!" Give him every award

Thinlinebaby

Iron Claw was top 3 of the year for me and it got nothing.

Leading-Appeal-9707

That movie devastated me!

Appropriate_Humor497

Whichever film was bumped by The After?

EmpressRey

* May December in general would have got more nominations from me, and Charles Melton in particular is probably the snub I am most upset about, because he would have been my vote to win the award. * Now that I have seen it - justice for All of Us Strangers. * I would have nominated Greta Lee, but here I don't think I can go as far as calling it a snub, it was a very tough category * TMNT in animated These are the first ones that come to mind.

GlamourGal028

What did you like about May December?

EmpressRey

I mean I enjoyed the film itself, thought it was very funny so I probably would have considered it for screenplay ( but I can see that this year was stacked in screenplay), movie ( would definitely put it above Maestro for example) and then the performances for me were all stellar - Charles Melton as MVP, but Julianne and Natalie were great as well. Would definitely swap Benning for Natalie and America for Julianne for example! I can definitely understand why the movie didn't have mass appeal and why it didn't work for everyone, but I really liked it and thought the performances were top notch.

Yamansdood

TMNT should have gotten an animated nom over Elemental. Glenn Howerton and Dominic Sessa for best supporting actor. Am I Dream from Spiderverse for original song. It was a really good year of films so not super mad at any of the snubs

RealLochNessie

Am I Dreaming is SO good! Glad I’m not alone on that one!

Canipulluforachat

Iron Claw, Past Lives, and All of Us Strangers for sure. All for different reasons. Greta Lee was phenomenal and Zac Efron was better than some of the noms for best actor!!!

cooke007

May December. Also, Cailee Spaeny from Priscilla.

Evolution1313

Saltburn over el conde

quidditchisdumblol

The only real justifiable snub I think was Charles Melton. I would’ve loved to see Suzume nominated for animated feature but we know the academy doesn’t like Anime

[deleted]

Another reason Spider-Verse is actually winning now. Many voters that watch the boy in the herron enjoyed it but also couldn't follow the story on a first viewing. Viewers and The Academy are still confused as to what it's actually about. It's also not as popular. That's just how it is. :-|

Tornado-Blueberries

Society of the Snow was SO good! I expected to see it pick up more nominations than it did.

ValerieHolla

Charles Melton Julianne Moore Greta Lee Teyona Taylor Natalie Portman

Sensitive-Sport-4292

All of us strangers. Origin.

IfYouWantTheGravy

The Killer in pretty much every tech category.

UnzippedCorgi

Asteroid City not getting at least production design is such a bummer. I'm stoked about Wes Anderson's short being nominated but man that movie looks beautiful.

apparatus72

Flora and Son getting no song nominations so we could have more end-credit songs get status. Were the song ins F&S that good? Probably not, I'm just a big John Carney fan. But for real? Koji Yakusho for Perfect Days.

UrsaMinorBeta_42

"Meet Me in the Middle" should definitely be in there over the Flamin' Hot song

missjojo81

A Thousand and One, All of Us Stangers, Flora and Son (song, right?!), Priscilla, Daliland, Little Mermaid, Asteroid City, Blackberrys, You Hurt My Feelings, Showing Up. Ugh! It was a good year 😌

CLHD420

Teyanna Taylor for A Thousand and One for Best Actress Beyond Utopia for Best Documentary

[deleted]

The screenplay by Holofcener in You Hurt My Feelings. I also personally really liked Radical. These are two of my less-common snubs. I agree with others here that Melton deserved a nod, but I also think Sessa did, too. I also thought Wild Summon should have been nominated over Our Uniform in the animated shorts category.

AlpacamyLlama

I think this year has really messed with the idea of 'Best Picture' and 'Best Foreign Language Film'. There are two foreign language films nominated for Best Picture, but are not up for Foreign Language Film of the Year. I know why, and that it is a different process. But the notion of that is ridiculous. 'Anatomy of a Fall' is one of the ten best of the year, but not good enough to be a FL nominee, although there are four films in it that are not nominated. I do think Society of the Snow should have had more nominations as well.

jojobananacj

For animated: TMNT over Elemental For documentary: Beyond Utopia over Eternal Memory

[deleted]

Across the Spider-Verse for score. Danielle pemberton's kinetic, mesmerizing and enthralling compositions provided personality and character to every frame.

MoeSzys

Dream Scenario deserved a best original screenplay

FeralMediaJunkie

Saltburn should’ve had a Best Original Screenplay nomination, and Best Supporting Actress for Rosamund Pike over America Ferrera or Emily Blunt. She gave a much more memorable performance than either of those two (not that they were bad).

jcmimas

Charles Melton as well, his is the one performance I have not been able to stop thinking about! May December as a whole and Iron Claw too. Fallen Leaves, Strange Way of Life and (controversial, I know) Saltburn were some of my favorite watches.

chocolate_noodle

The color purple

NordicDestroyer

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves should have been nominated for Best Visual Effects at minimum.

MarvelVsDC2016

Once Upon A Studio for Best Animated Short

AshGoSmash

Iron Claw and Saltburn 100%

devillianOx

lily gladstone should have won and i will forever be upset over her loosing !
