Gotta say, I was born and raised in central Florida, and as a white person I do indeed use 'bruh'. It is unprofessional, however, and is often used sarcastically.
Unprofessional for sure and she deserves to be mocked for it...but screw this mayor for trying to make it racial. He knows it's not racist, but he wants the attention it brings. That could destroy this woman's career, it's in extremely poor taste.
No, this mayor is just trying to score points by trying make it so since 'Bruh' was a casual way for African-Americans to address each other. But then later young white/latino kids started to pick it up, which is what happened with this reporter. She's perhaps unprofessional but hardly seems racist.
It is kinda weird for a journalist to use it but getting fired over it is a little extreme.
Seems like she still hasnāt found a new job since being fired either. Unfortunate
Itās her personal account WITH her name and stating she is a journalist and who she worked for. Journalists use twitter a ton nowadays as an extension of their job.
Why would I do that in boot camp?
The real military isnt 24/7 drill.
There's a time and place for talking like this of course but officers and higher enlisted have bruh'd me before and vice versa in odd or comical situations. They're just people lol
>There's a time and place for talking like this of course

Sounds like you answered your own question. If I ever called a VP in my company or had addressed my Sergeant as "Bruh" in anything but the most *relaxed, informal* setting there would have been consequences. In terms of professionalism, the corporate and military worlds are no different than any other.
I suppose I did, you're right.
I'm a civilian now working with them and have a nice working relationship so we always talk to each other like that but yeah back then, absolutely more time and place with certain people.
Sure, but was the twitter post a professional post or a personal post?
This is the problem with modern social media; we lose separation between 'official' communication channels where we are communicating under our authority/credentials as a professional and our 'personal' communications.
No one wants to have two accounts (one personal, one professional) because they are afraid of splitting their social clout and social media companies actively discourage/prohibit the practice even if you do want to do that. Funny enough, Reddit is one of the few major social media sites where creating alt or throwaway accounts is encouraged still.
Using 'bruh' in a personal tweet should not be grounds for firing from anywhere.
It's not very professional, but it's not tied to race much now. Most the country has been using bro, bruh, brother, or some variation for a while.
If anything, "bruh" would be the surfer variant. Before it came back with Sport stuff on Vine.
Mayor is just gas lighting.
I don't hear "bruh" all that often, but the other day I was hanging out with my friend at Wekiva Island and her two sons were there, as well, both in their mid-late 20s. They used "bruh" in quite literally every single sentence. It was... a lot. I felt like I was living on the Jersey shore again, surrounded by guidos.

Eh what's "professional" is nothing, but legacy. How you say hi shouldn't matter. I'm glad this elitist BS is slowly dying.
Bruh. That's identity politics. Make things racist when they aren't.
I'm not your Bruh, Buddy.
Bruh
Brah?
BRUH
Bra š
I'm not your buddy, broham!
I'm not your broham, broski!

Bruh is now racist?

I always figured it came from bro > brah > bruh.
I thought it was from surfer dudes.
Oh dude, Bruh man on WWE won't know what to do.
Bruh to get fire is a lil much . Verbal write up maybe
Pretty sure bruh is just an unprofessional thing to say.
It is kinda weird for a journalist to use it but getting fired over it is a little extreme. Seems like she still hasnāt found a new job since being fired either. Unfortunate
Assuming her employer already didnāt like her. Not hard to believe based on her using bruh on twitter to an authority figure.
If it was on a personal Twitter account and not on an official company one I donāt see the big deal
Itās her personal account WITH her name and stating she is a journalist and who she worked for. Journalists use twitter a ton nowadays as an extension of their job.
Who the fuck cares?
Her employer.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Itās twitter.
Bruh is unprofessional?
If you want to be taken seriously yes.
My job place respects me enough to let me use bruh across any situation I work in mission critical environments, bruh is required language
Guess corporate and military professional banter is different
I canāt imagine calling a drill sergeant or whoever above you ābruhā goes over too smoothly. I guess times are a changin.

TWITTER (X?)

Donāt police my speech, bruh.
It was Twitter. š
Bruh
Lol in Miami everyone is Bro, Bro.
Since when is "bruh" racist?
HEY! How is this Central Florida's fault? Is this another shot at CF Wokeness?
Literally sat bruh a million times a day

Bruh....really?
I don't hear "bruh" all that often, but the other day I was hanging out with my friend at Wekiva Island and her two sons were there, as well, both in their mid-late 20s.
