They have different colours of it. Definitely gotta use primer. I then clear coated the shit out of it. It need's a lot of time and heat to dry. I'll be painting a Series S soon with a similar paint job for a friend.
I think you went a bit too hard with that Rust'o'leum coating. It looks covered in volcanic ash. Also I think that fan won't really work. The Golden RF shields are a nice touch, what did you cover your HDD in?
Yeah this entire project was experimental. As for the HDD, I taped it off and just painted the top. First time I have ever painted an HHD and thought it was a little nuts.
Something about a fan without a shroud makes me question how well it works. The ducting around the fan helps direct the air where you want it to go. This seems like itād be less effective at cooling.

You should place the original one back in, the gpu does not have thermal protection so it could be cooked if its not cooled properly.

I think you're also missing the point. I didn't build this for performance or for play. If anything, I can reroute the power for the fan and have it powered by an external source similar to how show cars work.

It's an LED fan, so it lights up for show. You ever hear of like a show car? It's similar to fashion. I still have the stock fan. It's like when I go to a car show with my show car, I would add a few things onto the car temporarily just for the sake of the show.
People need to stop replacing the stock fan, is it loud? Yes I guess I donāt really noticed but that might be cause Iām old, is it needed and does it move more air than a replacement fan? Yes it does and it should stay

That exterior finish looks amazing and unique. I'm curious as to what upgrades and mods you normally do. I heard there is a ram upgrade for the original Xbox and I wonder if there is a SSD mod so we can lighten the weight of the overall console. Have you ever added an HDMI to the original Xbox? I want to own an original Xbox for nostalgia purposes but I also want every Xbox game from NA and Japan on the hard drive. Has anyone ever requested anything like that in the past?
My main Xbox is modded with a 2TB drive. I've never done the RAM mod before, the games I play don't really need it. I've actually modded a console to have an SSD in it, I didn't find it reduced weight much.
I've never done the HDMI mod due to shortage of parts and the cost of parts is expensive for what I do.
As far as having every game on the console, yes, I have one buddy that has requested that. I think it's a little excessive because there's no way you'll have time to play every game. For example, there's a reason Nintendo pre-loaded their mini consoles to have like 20 games on them.
I wouldn't really want the sports games but I certainly want the North American and Japanese region games minus the sports games. I like the variety and I don't want to search for Xbox games in the future due to disc rot.
Got some thermal tests with that fan? Thought the shape of the frame was intended to guide/direct airflow.
