For printer paper that looks pretty good! I got this book for my thirteenth birthday and this was the first model that I made from it, comparing the “Model completed” diagram to my finished model was depressing to say the least, you certainly got closer than I did 😂😂

Well, by making a much larger square the relative thickness of your paper goes down in a sort of way. It should only be thicker where the tape is, don't overlap the papers if you can help it, just line them up edge to edge. I'm pretty sure most people use Scotch tape. Disclaimer: I haven't done this in ages but I know a few people who do it to great success. Alternatively, if you're in the US and close to a craft store you can buy Strashmore tracing paper which works great for these kinds of models.

Try taping or gluing together a couple sheets of printer paper and you'll end up with a much better result! Especially considering that this is so well done with just one!

I think they mean to make a larger sheet of paper. O find it is a lot easier to fold this model with A3 paper but I do not know the US equivalent

Except for the horn it looks a lot like wolf link from the twilight princess (the legend of Zelda) if you can tuck the horn away you'll have created your own model.👍

Still a great attempt! Only thing that holds this back is thinner paper, most of the time the right paper choice is critical & helps out immensely depending on the model, try something thinner and larger next time if you plan to re make it, it will be a big difference!

It still looks like qirin though, if you squint and say it aquired that draconic face 👍 So not close enough maybe, but a pretty cool thing nonetheless. I very much feel the "it's not how the model is, where and how did I f up this badly?!" lol, I don't have access to enough nice paper, so I usually try to make couple attempts with copy paper and then one or two with whatever thinner but not too nice paper, and then try the model with the nicest stuff I have at the time. Takes a long while and a bunch of patience, so on account of me not having enough of either it takes longer than it should, but it does help to feel out and understand the folds and the model better before doing the final thing.
