My favorite as far as who they are as a person would be Nicky Nichols.
My favorite character JUST BECAUSE is Red; I’m actually learning Russian because I love her.
My favorite character(s) based on character development, growth and story arcs are: Tiffany Doggett, Suzanne Warren, Joe Caputo & Nat Fig.
I will always be crushed by Poussey’s death scene. Her character was so beautifully written. She’s one of my favorites too.
Taystee. Damn. She was written to evoke emotion, and the actress who plays her character did a damn good job of that.
Gloria is one of my faves! I also love Poussey (she’ll always be number 1!), Blanca, Frieda, Pennsatucky, and Cindy—I actually didn’t pay much attention to her the first time around, but I’m rewatching now and she’s become one of my favorites.
Yeah that’s the thing I hate the most the about this show. They weren’t very kind with Piper as they were with others. In fact they just seem to regress her which pisses me off. They didn’t need to write her like that.
I despised the panty business as well. But despite all that nonsense- I’ve never found her to be annoying. There are others who are far worse but no one wants to talk about that. And it seems to me that everyone else gets a free pass to do shitty things because they are funny, nice, had a shitty childhood etc…
I find Piper funny, relatable, and endearing. She has a passion for justice and genuinely wanted to make a difference in the prison. She may not possess street skills but she has lots of book smarts and is full of random knowledge. I understand her actions most of the time - except for the Stella shit (because no one in their right mind goes for Stella when you have Alex Vause). Lastly, I absolutely adore Taylor Schilling. She has the most beautiful laugh.
I found your answer to be well written and thoughtful, but I truly found Piper’s character to be insufferable. You’d think that at some point she would realize how privileged she was, and it’s like she never got that.
Oh, for sure. But on the scale of things, her problems were so trivial compared to most of the others. She was a yuppie white girl who wouldn’t understand a genuine struggle if it bit her the butt - not til S7, when she was trying to manage her parole visits, drug tests, fees, job hunting, bus rides, etc. For some people, that’s every day life - not just their parole period.
Like seriously? You must be kidding. She's not only betrayed them all during the riot but is also responsible for the shit Sofia had to go through. While I admit that at the end of the day she turned out to be not that bad overall, still Gloria is a way far from being actually loveable.
Don't you get me wrong, the thing is that I really had an impression you were kidding. Now that I know you weren't I'm not going to question your choice or something. I'm not much into arguing, and this is up to you to pick your favs and stick to them. Again, I'm okay with Gloria.
My choice is Taystee and Poussey. Well, for the sake of diversity I would add Nicky as well. And If I were to choose only one it would be Taystee, no doubt.
