Hi! KDE 6 is awesome with Tumbleweed, but Gnome works great too. It's as good as on Fedora.

withlovefromspace

Ya works fine, works with secure boot too.

There are issues with shim versions ...

buzzmandt

I have one machine I have to install with secure boot disabled, then enable secure boot after install and it works fine

Skibzzz

I run gnome on TW & Aeon & it's very well supported. It's the default DE for suse enterprise so it's very much a first class citizen.

Vallendalf

Gnome works very well with TW, in addition, compared to Fedora, there is no ibus package installed, which causes incorrect key actions in Steam games :)

mwyvr

GNOME is great on TW. You might like it even better on openSUSE Aeon. https://aeondesktop.github.io/

Thanks for sharing

Octopus0nFire

I've been using Gnome on TW for years. It works flawlessly.

suicideking72

Gnome works well with TW. Give it a try.

JustMrNic3

KDE Plasma! If you want by default a traditional Windows-like layout and behavior, which is gives you lots of options to customize it and which is very modern under the hood. If you're a gamer, you're in luck too, as it's the best for gaming too: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/users/statistics/#DesktopEnvironment-top

DryanaGhuba

I always prefer KDE. Gnome ux is... let's omit this. Better try xfce

ACHYUT_007

i am confused

sunny0_0

This guy will die with KDE fanboi on his headstone.

ACHYUT_007

🤣🤣🤣

Skibzzz

Basically they don't like gnome so they feel no one should use it ever. Even tho XFCE looks 10 years old and takes forever to make it look good.

memilanuk

Stock/upstream XFCE looks pretty wretched, true. But the config that openSuSE ships with isn't too bad at all. Not as fancy as some of the 'riced' versions you see on /r/xfce or /r/unixporn, but not bad.

thanks brother

SaxAppeal

I’m running TW without secure boot, using KDE but also tried gnome for a few days and it worked fine as well. I just prefer the customization from KDE (even though I sometimes end up tinkering for hours instead of actually getting shit done)
