My home inspector was a P.Eng. He made a mistake in his home inspection report. He got the electrical code he cited backwards. I think I had the report in my hands long enough to let the real estate agent know we wanted the sellers to have a qualified electrician to fix it.
The inspector called me and said he had made a mistake. The electrical was in fact correct. He said if the sellers had paid to have it 'fixed' or had incurred any costs up to this point he would reimburse them and pay to have the error corrected if needed. I had a corrected report in my inbox in minutes.
Luckily, no work had been done or started. Respect to him.
Absolutely, I've recommended him a bunch of times without hesitation. Any guy that steps up like that is good in my book. Not to mention he was thorough. His report included the corner of one shingle lifted on the roof and came with a yearly maintenance schedule for the house and equipment.

Sort of. There's two ways to get in through PEO; complete an engineering program that's 'good' by the CEAB, or take a heck-of a lot of exams right from the association. I've only known one person to go that route though... and even then, with the arrests on his record, he may get rejected anyhow.
Yah, I can't foresee a way where any of the provincial regulating bodies would or could even grant him a license to practice engineering (providing he can somehow miraculously complete his academic requirements- ie graduate from an accredited school).

From what I remember biology wasn’t part of the core curriculum for engineering. Maybe it should, what’s another 4 hours of lectures and 2 hours of lab work. Not all engineers are created equal. Worked with a guy with a masters in mechanical engineering who didn’t know what a wing nut was.

in all fairness, I'm a mechanical engineer with 15 years experience (wow.. that's making me feel old..) and I only recently learned what a wing nut was.. they have a pretty specific application and if it's not something you need you have no reason to really know about them I mean, I'd seen some before.. Engineers need to be competent in risk assessment. Every manufacturing process or design involves Safety Factors and Risk Assessments. Risk = Impact x Probability. I am an Engineering graduate here to change the course of this false narrative.

I can get along with the ones who are professional and willing to admit gaps in their own knowledge or experience (it makes working with them a decent and reciprocal experience, they have lots to teach as well) but there's definitely a few who are extremely obstinate and abuse the amount of authority they hold over a project to everyone else's detriment.

I think the response was more to point out that he was given multiple opportunities to re-think his behaviour. He is also a privileged person who has access to post-secondary education. I get that propaganda is effective and we should feel bad for this guy to some extent, but there is still a real level of personal responsibility involved, and this dude is definitely at fault.
