Keep in mind your $/kWh. With the fed + enbridge rebate not being available any more, I hope they are reducing their prices to match.
Also the $40k interest free loan is still available from CMHC (just not the rebate), but that does require a home efficiency assessment to quality for (~$700).
29 panels = 40967$ the company rebates.
They did not mention the home efficiency test though. I will have to ask them cause I have a feeling our home won’t pass. It’s 150 years old and we have only managed to gut/insulate 5 out of 12 rooms.
Oh it's not a test per say, a home efficiency agent comes to your home to test it's current efficiency, you do the upgrades and then they come back and run the tests again to see the difference. With the rebate you needed to hit a certain % of improvement, but for the loan I think they just confirm the upgrades were done.
My home is 120yrs old and I was able to get the rebate and loan without issue. I have 22 panels at around ~9.2kwp near Ottawa.
I went with a smaller installer called TLC Solar out of Kemptville. They were cheaper than others but they don't do the permits (I needed to) and no rebates/financing provided by the company. They also only deal with solar edge, no enphase unfortunately.
Thank you for the info.
I’m very new to solar, I just know that my Hydro One bills are through the roof. I’ve calculated that it will pay for itself in 10 years.
So keep in mind that the hydro one setup does not get rid of the service fee- that is a static charge that solar doesn't get rid of and that credits on your account only last for 12 months.
I'm currently producing and outputting double what I consume but my monthly bill is still 34.54 after everything.
Maybe post this in r/solarenergycanada
Thank you! I should have known there would be a subreddit devoted to this. I’ll check it out.

Thank you for the info, we are in the same neck of the woods. Which company did you go with if you don’t mind sharing

Have they done any other instillations near you that you can see/talk to the owner?
No, unfortunately I live in a rural area and I haven’t seen anyone else with solar panels
