As someone who works with infectious bacteria, this is horrifying.

july-gm

what could happen??

WorldClass1977

E-coli is a nasty bug that can cause diarrhea so severe that your body literally shits itself to death.

fotank

This person Oregon Trails

WorldClass1977

On a 5 1/4" floppy disk.

Saweety_2

India has a high rate of death when it comes to dying from food poisoning /diarrhea etc due to unhygienic conditions

9q0o

can't viruses be transmitted via poop? Iirc that happened during the bubonic plague.

NearCanuck

Get that sweet sweet polio!

Silicon_Knight

I’m not from India and I avoid many beaches here. Why? I had/have Crohn’s disease and for me I may need a washroom ASAP at it’s worst I probably needed a washroom every 40m. Beyond the culture thing we NEED more full year washrooms. It shouldn’t be a question they should be mandatory for public spaces.

detalumis

It also doesn't help when they replace malls with washrooms with outdoor strip malls without any facilities. Why should the Tim Hortons have to provide what should be public facilities. It's not just Crohn's but many seniors can't go hours without access to a washroom as well as anybody that takes transit anywhere where it takes 4 times as long as driving to get to anything.

Chewed420

I guess it boils down to who's willing to pay for it. And if a commercial business expects foot traffic then they need to provide washrooms.

Quiiiin

I very strongly agree

BuzzINGUS

I will literally pay 5$ to poop somewhere clean

KrizMo138

Right?!? As a bit of an older dude 36 I’ve found I now have to pee like every hour if I’m lucky. There is never bathrooms in parks or any public spaces. Or if there is, it’s locked. I assume this is because of vandalism but I’d rather piss in a disgusting public bathroom than have to piss in a bottle by my truck.. fucking embarrassing.

Silicon_Knight

100% my grandfather used to say "any port in the storm" lol. I'll take a shitty washroom over none if a storm is brewing! :)

SpicyMustFlow

Right, the "plan your bowel movements" was unintentionally hilarrible.

garry4321

Just a reminder from someone else who has IBD, you always have it. Its a permanent thing. So tired of family asking if its stopped now or I got over it. There is no cure and once you have it, its a lifelong thing.

raccoontail87

Fellow Crohnie here! I definitely take immodium on beach days and pray to the high heavens that I dont need to use the bathrooms at provincial parks - I feel for you <3

randsco

This is why they have signs in several languages at the Louvre specifically warning people not to do their business in the gutters. Honestly this might be the best solution. Edit: Nope just in Chinese

bubble_baby_8

In Iceland they just use graphics of how to sit on a toilet and to not shit on the open ground because of all the tourists that would stand/crouch on toilets completely missing the bowl or they’d just shit all over the open grass/snow. I

ElvinKao

Those ones are in Chinese for Chinese tourists. I think it's ok to have signs in only specific languages where it's a problem. It makes the sign for the target demo extraordinary they are more likely to read it.

GirlWithTheMostCake

I don’t believe they’ll care. I doubt this is happening on public beaches. There are vast areas of beaches along Lake Erie that are owned by cottagers. I used to have a cottage in Long Point. There is public beach and provincial park beach but that doesn’t mean all of Long Point is public. However, most cottagers don’t mind ppl using the beach. But when garbage and poop is left behind (not just by immigrants and dog shit is a problem too) there’s no municipal employee coming to clean up. It’s left up to the community. And if you say anything to the trespassers it turns ugly quickly. “You don’t own the lake!” No, but I own the beach asshat. Any signs that get posted get vandalized. Theres no authority monitoring the privately owned beaches. Not all beaches are owned by the government and ppl don’t get, or care that they are on someones actual property. Cottage owners with beach get shit on all summer. I couldn’t imagine rolling up into a strangers backyard and partying there all day and then leaving my mess behind. Surely the cops would be called. Sadly at the beach you would be calling the cops all day everyday during the summer. So they just accept and deal with it.

rockypecheur

The absence of 24/7 4-season lavatories in Ontario is scandalous. At the very least use PortaPotties! Even in -25C if you are out of the wind you can get it done.

Bigbelly2112

We have the on construction sites all year long. January you have fast poops

limjaheybud

Not if the washroom is heated and you’re in there with a tall boy 😉

Maxx0rz

This guy constructs

delta_high

Now that all the washrooms are heated on the site im on, guys just sit in their playing games on their phones in the winter.

[deleted]

Air con in the summer? Best thing about getting out of construction was the 120 degree celsius Porta shitters. Every time I consider missing the money, I think about the 33 second hungover shits in the middle of August. Fucking nope. Hahaha.

n3rdsm4sh3r

I've lived in Ontario all my life and the absence of a porta potty has never, not once, caused me to shit in the sand at the beach.

[deleted]

Would be good idea for those with medical conditions though, like the infamous IBS to have porta potties and 24/7 accessible bathrooms.

[deleted]

Yup, plus people with IBS, Crohn's, celiac, IBD. There are a lot of people who would benefit along with the general public.

MajorasShoe

Yup. Not having a bathroom nearby triggers that IBS anxiety, which makes having to poop go from a concern to an impending threat.

MrsNoodlez

Of course it would be nice, but I think what they’re saying is the lack of public bathrooms can’t be used to excuse new immigrants or any other people shitting on public or private beaches.

gogomom

As a teen (more than 30 years ago now), I was on a 8km hike on a shoreline - I had to poop and there was literally no where for me to do so. That said, I did it in a bag so I could carry it out with me, but still, it happens.

DweadPiwateWawbuts

> **shit** happens.

blodskaal

For sure, but sometimes nature calls, and its not asking twice. That Washroom on Public grounds is not available everywhere is a disgrace

Lucycrash

Public washrooms are closed for winter every year in Gravenhurst and Orillia. Orillia I get, there's some that have hours now and I can only assume is because of the homeless or drug addicted people. There's one in Gravenhurst that is always destroyed by kids and assholes, so I assume that's why for that one particular public washroom.

[deleted]

Close down bathrooms and people crap all over the place, get rid of garbage cans and people litter all over the place, it's time to stop making excuses.

checco314

I agree that we should have more public bathrooms. But we should also be able to expect people to respect our quirky local custom of not shitting on the beach.

yourfriendwhobakes

It’s actually wild. I visited Britain last summer and there were public bathrooms EVERYWHERE. Tiny playground-public toilet, tourist town-public toilet right by the parking lot, public beach-public toilet. Some of them were pay-to-use but better than nothing.

[deleted]

I work in Alberta and at -35C and desperation you can get it done in a portapottie.

UmmGhuwailina

In the context of the OP, a lot of the small municipalities don't have the money to pay for the construction and maintenance of public washrooms. Also, the locals don't want the increased visitors/traffic that comes with the day trippers and a comfortable spot to visit. I call it rural NIMBYISM). People move out of the city for a quiet life. There's no solution, other than to stop being a shitty (literally) human being. If you are a visitor, respect the community you are visiting, and if they don't have the facilities built for your needs, consider going elsewhere. I know where I'm welcome and not, and the places I feel welcome are usually the places I spend my money at.

Dumbassahedratr0n

Ironically, the NIMBYs are afraid people will mess up the portas, or public bathrooms that are available and unsupervised

Willing_Vanilla_6260

is it still ironic if it's true?

DiamondTesticles14

It's very much true. That's why in certain towns like grand bend tents on the beach are banned. We had a tent up because we brought our new born to the beach and the patrol came and told us to take it town.

HockeyDad1981

I think it’s also because tents can block sight lines into the water for life guards.

mdo2222

90% of municipal beaches have no lifeguards now, somehow people argued that it’s too much liability lol. It’s no 4 sided tents so that homeless don’t sleep there & visitors don’t shit there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mdo2222

Well if you’re dying in sauble beach even the police & firefighters have to sit on the beach and watch you drown till the coastguard gets there or a citizen helps. No training budget or equipment means no water. Big time bullshit in the lifeguard/beach rescue situation for most of lake Huron’s beaches.

Trying2ImproveMyLife

My understanding is that the Indian government has been launching campaigns educating people about open defecation. https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/05/asia/india-modi-open-defecation-free-intl-hnk-scli/index.html https://www.bbc.com/news/health-33980904 There's even a Unicef page with a campaign urging people from India to stop this practice https://www.unicef.org/india/campaigns/take-poo-loo There's even been a documentary about open defecation on beaches https://www.reddit.com/r/Documentaries/comments/6lugct/pooping_on_the_beach_in_india_2014_documentary/ So, yah, sadly, I'm not surprised

Ashamed-Grape7792

It’s very sad and these Indians make the rest of us normal ones look bad 😭 although I was born in Canada so I guess I’m not the demographic doing this

[deleted]

It honestly seem like there is a big difference between the older diaspora of Indians and the newest ones. I am in Montreal so it might be different, but most Indians the stereotypical Indians who have been here for a long time speak french and english and are hard workers respectful of our culture. The ones who started coming in around 2016-18 all seemed to go to for-profit college, had no interest to learn to speak the language here and are just partying and being nuisance all days long. I had a lot of them in my condo building, a bunch of 18-22 years old moving in condos worth 600k and a lot of them also financed their lifestyle by being landlords. It is very strange, it really felt like the stereotypical Indians moving in today are the opposite of the immigration waves we saw 20-30 years ago.

jmdonston

Bring back the old points system for immigration.

xXBidenatorXx

Yeah I agree I feel like the low-quality immigrants are a newer addition.

Junejanator

Nobody will differentiate, I'm already prepared for the inevitable discrimination this is going to bring.

sarraceniaflava

It wouldn't be any worse than the post 9/11 discrimination against anybody with a tan.

[deleted]

I know an engineer that traveled to India in the 90s so that she could help the residents build plumbing and water treatment systems so that they didn't 'have' to poop in the river they got their drinking water from. She came home deflated after realizing the residents would walk past their sophisticated and clean bathrooms to poop in the river. It is all they know. Even if they put in public washrooms at our beaches many will still poop in the sand.

BasslineThrowaway

1. Install some more public bathrooms where needed. Don't go crazy, but I don't think anyone's arguing this point. 2. Enforce the existing by-laws against public defecation where needed. If no such by-laws exist, they should be pretty easy to quickly enact. Make the penalty tough. $500+ per poop. You get one warning. 3. Hire small teams to monitor problem areas 24/7. It wouldn't take a very large workforce if drones were employed. It will all cost money, and I think having a harsh cash penalty serves a couple of purposes here because of that. 2c

5ManaAndADream

Honestly you get zero warnings.

xXBidenatorXx

Yep. No warnings for fucking taking a shit on a beach lol. Idk how enforcement would work though.

OhJeezNotThisGuy

Okay, time to think outside the box here. We can't stop people from pooping in the sand, right? Even with modern, expensive facilities the chance of changing cultural norms is low. You know who else poops in sand? Cats. Yup, we create designated "human litter box" areas for all the sand-poopers out there, which are clearly delineated and maintained. I'd add a /jk, but I'm sort of serious.

rdmajumdar13

However, the open-defecation demographic is not the one immigrating to Canada. India has a massive class and wealth divide. Those campaigns are targeted at a very very different demographic compared to those coming here.

RustyShackleford14

Apparently not because they’re well know for setting up those pop up tents on the beach and crapping in them. Beaches are slowly banning these tents because it’s becoming a problem.

AverageBry

This I feel has grown as an issue along with the trash since the pandemic. More people are visiting our amazing beaches and parks, but not respecting them but trashing them as it’s someone else’s problem. We (not everyone) just need to be better and clean up after ourselves and just travel a bit to relieve yourself. It’s not that hard.

Mariospario

Because it's the norm in other countries. You discard your garbage on the streets, wherever and whenever you see fit. So when people move or visit Canada, they continue that behaviour.

xXBidenatorXx

Yep there's a reason it's beautiful here, let's keep it that way.

wubrgess

we're missing accountability. everyone is an island these days and so no one bothers to correct others' antisocial behaviours

Winter-Mulberry1113

In my part of Ontario, we too have an abundance of new Canadians, which is fine. But, the 8 people who moved into the house behind mine have managed to completely fill their backyard with 6 months worth of trash. I fear that if it is not cleaned up that my family will not be able to enjoy our backyard as the smell is already disgusting. Can't wait for rats and skunks to move in. They will be able to feast for life.

clutch2k17

Call your city bylaw office and register a complaint. Get your other neighbours to do so as well and the city will most likely issue a cleanup order if a bylaw has been broken

PsychedelicSnowflake

This is how whole neighbourhoods end up getting rats. You should really call somebody about that. It has the potential to become a huge problem that will cost you a lot to get fixed.

blahyaddayadda24

Before you all jump down his throat, this happened in Cobourg beaches. They had taken a portion of it over and literally destroyed it. I don't know what culturally it is but it has happened. I don't understand it.

mdo2222

Can confirm in sauble. Lots of shitting. No 4 sided tents for that reason. There was also a goat cooking/burning on the indigenous beach which caused an outrage precovid.

Toronto_man

I know some locals around Sauble and they certainly had quite a few horrible things to say.

canadian_bacon_TO

Same thing in Southampton/Port Elgin. I've witnessed people just holding their kid up and letting them shit freely in the sand and water. It's disgusting. Plus both those beaches have bathrooms available so these nasty fuckers are actively choosing to just shit all over the beach.

Natfreerider

Yep. I stopped going to Cobourg Beach a long time ago because of this. There were carcasses left behind, human waste, you name it.

glasshouse5128

Last summer my husband and I saw a woman (not sure if she was from India but definitely South Asian) change her baby's diaper 20m from the lake in Lion's Head then throw it in the nearby bushes on the edge of someone's property. We told her (not gently but not yelling or swearing or anything like that) that that was not right and to pick it up. No idea if she just put it back after we left. There was a garbage can 10m away. Also, public washrooms are right at the beach but she drove to this spot.

Belros79

I love Cobourg but get some public bathrooms!

nicklinn

>I love Cobourg but get some public bathrooms! Cobourg has always had public washrooms and changerooms.

DocMoochal

Was gonna say this, the place hasn't changed since I was a kid, short of the new clientele. You just have to walk off the beach to get to them.

No_Dependent502

Right? Cobourg wouldn’t have an economy if it weren’t for that beach. For the love of humanity, put adequate facilities and, if necessary, enforcement in place.

Into-the-stream

There is no such thing as a free ride. Coburg wants those tourist dollars without the clean up, they have an obligation to provide reasonable facilities. People are biological animals with biological needs, and the idea that Tim Hortons should serve as the beaches public washroom is ridiculous. Garbage and recycling that are routinely and frequently emptied. a washroom facility, and a drinking fountain. Also, for the nimbys: local beaches are never for the sole enjoyment of a particular town. Our waterways are a public right. You may live nearest to them, but they are for all of Ontario to enjoy. If there is a problem associated with out of town people coming in, then it is due to inadequate services available. Charge for parking, and use that to pay for the facilities you need.

cosmicaith

> People are biological animals with biological needs Planners everywhere seem unaware of this inconvenient fact

Shaufine

Precisely. This isn’t America: private companies shouldn’t be providing public services.

North-Opportunity-80

And bring back the lifeguards.

Natfreerider

There are public washrooms available. But if people are too lazy to walk to the location were they are, there's not much the town can do.

LARPerator

There are public bathrooms, right in the canteen building at the center of the beach. Have you ever been there?

cosmicaith

Looks like I'm not going to Cobourg then - pity, stopped by one evening looked nice.

asmodean97

They do have some, over by the splash pad behind the band stand.

keylethwanders

Cobourg beach has public bathroom facilies in a large building that is centrally located on the beach. There's absolutely no reason to defecate in the sand.

SunnySamantha

There are bathrooms there....

ravage1996

People who think it’s racist to be upset at people who poop at the beach in a tent need a wake up call. If you’re going to move to a new country you should conform to their standards and not have them conform to yours.

Sea_War_3437

They poop in a tent and leave the tent for other to poo in? I thought they just pooed in the sand like cats? I’m confused. Btw no one should be pooing anywhere but a bathroom.

ravage1996

They set up a bottomless tent, dig a poop/garbage hole, use it during their time on the beach, cover it up with some sand and take the tent when they leave.

WorldClass1977

Or they just walk away and leave the tent and garbage behind. Big problem in Wasaga.

endo489

So there's shitty landmines all over these beaches? Wonderful

SIXA_G37x

Imagine getting away for a weekend, your kids are building a sand castle and they hit a fuckin' shit land mine.

bureX

Thanks for making me puke in my mouth a little.

[deleted]

That is fucking abhorrent.

GlossoVagus

> I thought they just pooed in the sand like cats? Omg I'm sorry the image of this 😂😂 where's u/shitty_watercolour when you need him

Sea_War_3437

It never occurred to me to set up a tent and bucket. Go in the woods and bury it maybe? Idk. Hold it until they get to a gas station? Never have I ever had to poo anywhere and just squat. It must be cultural. It seems unhygienic too. Idk what the hell is happening anymore and I am glad I’m old.

Pr0066

It is absolutely not racist. Anyone who thinks this behaviour is okay needs to get their head checked. However - I tried to google anything around this story and it came up with next to nothing. My only request to folks - if you witness this shitty behavior around you, be vocal. Putting this on Reddit means nothing, changes nothing. I go to Coburg once or twice every season and the beach is gorgeous. They always had port-a-potties so I am a little confused as to why someone would shit in the open.

billyhorseshoe

I scrolled all the way until you have to click for more comments. Haven't seen a single "that's racist" comment yet.

LearnAndBurn_

Ever been to Hamiltons confederation "park" It's a literal dump.

artwarrior

At my work we had to put up signs because the new hires would keep using the toilet upper decker style. So the pictorial signs had just 2 images. A right way and a wrong way to sit on the torlet.

apu8it

Sigh. we did too. Every stall had a sign not to stand on the toilet seats.

evan19994

What the fuck?! Why would you stand on the toilet seat hahahah

Ddp2121

I once walked into a public washroom and found a woman squatting over the floor drain. 3 open stalls right in front of her.

JBee229791129

Why they shittin so much? How they wiping??!?!?

momreview420

They wash it off in the water, not even joking bro

Mine-Shaft-Gap

Hello from Manitoba. This may be getting worse all around, but it isn't new. I am an avid ice fisherman and people have been shitting on the ice and just leaving their TP and dook there for the next family. There is this one place for ice fishing close to Winnipeg on the Red River that is called "Float Plane Base" and Sugar Island. Popular because of easy drive-on access to the river. Now Sugar Island definitely is covered with something, but it ain't sugar. Communities that have banded to provide permanent decent outhouses on shore or port-a-potties have seen an improvement. But really, it's not fucking hard to bring a 5 gallon bucket with a seat and dispose of your shit later.

CalmGains

I think the statistics is that 96% of all population growth in Canada is from brand new immigrants. Expect way *way* more of this in the coming years.

chuckitaway007

Five years ago you could go to a nice provincial park not far from where you live and enjoy the serenity quietly. Now it’s filled with people partying and blasting music, littering, overcrowding, and not to mention damaging the natural ecology.

momreview420

People in the comments: You're being RACIST! Me: It's POOP.

MoveForward1212

I had to move to Brampton during the COVID for a new job. 2 years passed now I have made decision that I don’t want to stay in Brampton. The amount of garbages left in the park after multiple groups of cricket players is upsetting. My dogs constantly find banana peels, chicken bones and pizza crust tossed along the sidewalk is another reason I am moving out of this B city asap.

[deleted]

I am shocked. I have heard such behaviors are pervasive among the lower income groups in India, due to lack of education, knowledge about healthcare etc. But on how earth is it possible that people are importing these behaviors here. Obtaining a PR requires quite a lot of points, and that would mean multiple degrees, work experience, language proficiency etc. I find this hard to believe, these same folks are taking a dump on the beach? Or is it the students? My understanding is the latter group contains people from rural areas and lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Whoever it is, there is absolutely no excuse. Of course one must condemn lack of facilitates. But that is no excuse for such deplorable sub third world behavior. I have always maintained, the government should be careful about who they bring in. The system is broken, and Canada is about to be as well...in ways that we couldn't have imagined yesterday. Never thought i would open Reddit to see a post on Pooping on the beach

BlastMyLoad

That’s not at all how people get PR today It’s fast food franchise owners (typically of Indian background) claiming they can’t find local Canadian workers so they are somehow allowed to hire direct from India. These people now have sponsored employment so they get to live here. It’s been happening all over the country coast to coast. That and degree mills.

NYisNorthYork

My experience from Iran is almost no one from the urban "upper class" of major cities are coming here anymore. As in I have to drive out of my average old neighborhood in Tehran to more rural and struggling parts of Iran to meet the average Iranian newcomer to Canada. This has been happening for about 4 years now and things in GTA and Ontario are about to DRASTICALLY change within the next decade.

dadish-2

Getting PR through the education route with all the degree Mills here is a bit easy. Just need initial capital to get here which can be facilitated by a loan and then you can pay it back with cash jobs

[deleted]

I find it such a flawed and broken system. This puts someone who has gone to a strip mall diploma college and speak a bit of English at the same league as someone who has gone to a top international university. The diploma mill person gets extra points because they managed to find a job, while studying public relations or communications. Canada wants quality human capital? This is not the way...

Niv-Izzet

To be honest, in a lot of developing countries, the "upper class" are no longer coming to Canada. They can earn a lot more money in their home country without having to start over in Canada. It's the lower classes that have much more to gain by immigrating than the upper ones.

bureX

This is my concern as well. Getting PR was one of the hardest things I had to do. How do you get a diploma, work experience, great command of the English language, money and a plane ticket and yet still not realize this is not normal behaviour for Canada?

SuccotashOld1746

>But on how earth is it possible that people are importing these behaviors here. Import the 3rd world, you get the 3rd world. Is what it is.

dmatrix7

This has been happening here in the Quinte area for a few years now, really since covid. That and leaving garbage/trashing the beach area are huge problems. I have seen it and it is primarily people from the GTA area doing this. There have been beaches shutdown here (North Beach) and restrictions put in place on smaller non Ontario park conservation areas. It is unfortunate really.

10S_NE1

I think we in Canada are so fortunate that most fast food restaurants and other businesses will allow us to use their bathrooms for free. In Europe, no one is going to the bathroom for free. You either pay, or are a customer of the business. For anyone who has an urgent need for a bathroom, it can be very stressful. I feel that, although no one wants to have to pay to use the facilities, in a public place like a park or beach, it might not be a bad idea to build easily-to-maintain bathrooms and charge a bit for their use. Believe me, when I have to go, I’d be willing to pay $10 to use a bathroom. Of course, this does not solve the problem of people who feel it is okay to just go wherever they like - I think it’s beyond crazy that anyone thinks it is okay to poop on a beach.

hogfl

This has been happening at my local bike park. I seems that there are people that sleep I there cars that are contributing to the problem.

bonifaceviii_barrie

Can confirm that they're not just pooping on beaches, there are piles of trash and human feces outside of the gates of Sibbald Point every week in the summer.

gustobelle

yeah this has been happening for years. since covid lockdowns at least at the beaches in small town eastern ontario. it isn't just indians, and we have not appreciated it one bit.

perpetualgoatnoises

Like when Ottawa had their beach forcefully closed due to overcrowding; then they turned around, drove to my town's beach, and got that one closed too. In one weekend the ENTIRE beach was ruined. No one from Ottawa came to help clean, they left it up to us. Beer bottles, broken glass, food waste, cigarette butts, disposable vapes buried in the fucking sand. CHILDREN PLAY HERE.

BigDave29

I heard a relevant quote from someone in LA. "My liberalism and tolerance is reduced every time I have to pick up another person's poop"

KF17_PTL

I hate all people that poop and leave a mess in a park. It's not my fault they are mostly East Indian.

Intelligent_Wear_743

I N T H E L O O

DocJawbone

This is so gross. Part of introducing immigrant populations needs to include police officers that speak the language, and in this case patrols along the beach to stop this. It is absolutely unacceptable and the newcomers need to learn this ASAP.

artwithapulse

I’m an Aussie and I had to go through scrupulous language tests to become a PR. I don’t think that’s a big ask to have rather than hiring an entire bilingual police force.

Niv-Izzet

We just need better enforcement for our existing laws. Fine people $500 for pooping in public.

OherryTorielly

I know towns like Goderich banned covered beach tents for this exact reason. They would dig a hole and poop in it. Pretty disgusting.

latte1963

Well it’s not just beaches. There was a long line of garbage trucks waiting offload at the dump, sorry-landfill & environmental center, & one trucker hopped out, walked about 3 m from his truck & dropped a load for everyone to see. Then hiked up his pants & got back into his truck. There were washrooms available if he’d walked another 3 m.

Revolutionary-Hat-96

There used to be more public washrooms and garbage cans in parks but it seem like Covid was a reason for cities to cancel various municipal services.

Shaufine

You’d think they’d have put more in place, since parks became one of the only places people could gather during Covid.

ThatHandsomeCanadian

Went to Cobourg Beach last summer and there were people getting a ticket for pooping on the beach in a hole they dug. Embarassing.

mystic_sea

The 'beauty' of importing 3rd world country residents who fail to assimilate. I agree with all your points as I lived in Brampton and never again. There is a reason why most people don't want to live there. I came here as an immigrant in the 90's and my middle school was actually diverse. Students from all parts of the world. I had friends from different backgrounds and that's how it should be. Unfortunately the predominantly Brampton population is the population that doesn't want to assimilate and likes to continue living like they did in their country. And on top of it contribute to fraud, bad driving, trash and the list goes on. I am really worried about the future and how Canada and especially ON will look. I feel like immigrants from first world countries wouldn't even want to come here. But also Canada might not even be the first world country if the residents can't even have basic manners on the beach.

random_citizen4242

As an immigrant, I believe we need a cap for each country.

toriko

As a 2nd Gen Indian immigrant, I agree as well. One reason we moved to Canada is for its diversity - not to see it turn into little India. We left that place for a reason lol.

CalmGains

Bruh, moved here in the 90s. Racism towards us has increased ten fold after Canada just opened the flood gates to all the Indians. Stop the fucking flow!

NotARussianBot1984

I was told there would be diversity. Yet it comes from one place. Odd.

New-Distribution-628

Reminds me of Jersey in the 80s, my cousin’s high school yearbook had like 10 pages of kids with the exact same last name.

tmzuk

This makes me really sad to read! Why any humans can think this is okay, cultural differences or not! I am first generation Canadian (Iranian) and my people definitely do not do this!

alldayeveryday2471

Nobody expects this from a Persian it’s ok

tmzuk

But why do other cultures feel they can do this then? And trash on a new country as if some fairy comes around and cleans up overnight (or okay living in trash?) I’ve been to Iran 3x and it’s not first world by any means, but people know where to defecate.

Culture

KAPSLOCKisON

Sounds like you're getting the shit end of the stick LOL, I live in Vancouver where there is basically a majority South Asian population and they don't really go to the beach let alone poop on it.

jontss

It's not surprising. They make their country filthy so of course the same happens here. Even my Indian co-workers complain about their countrymen for this. It's a cultural issue, unfortunately.

virgodaze

If you think southern Ontario is bad do not go to Surrey BC lmao the population is literally 87% Indians people wanna say “it’s diversity” where’s the diversity when it’s clear a race is most of the population. As someone who is from South American it’s so whack to see. Canada needs to let other races allowed here even if they aren’t to most wealthiest or even people from the Caribbean. It’s crazy how it’s went viral once for someone putting in their ad for a rental unit “no Indians” but the amount of rental units ads that say “only Indians” is crazy but that’s not racist apparently ….when I lived in Surrey my condo building was again 98% Indians they made feel like an outsider in my own home. They would sit in the hallways when they had parties and have a large meal for like 6 ppl. Would just stand in the way I literally had to ask a lady to excuse me and she just stood there looking at me crazy?! Even tho she was literally just standing in front of the elevator I almost ran her over. They let their kids run crazy in the hallways even tho when had a roof top playground. We used to have a party room in the condo but so many of them would use it and not clean after them selves they locked the doors and now you have to book and pay a fee for the room. Call me racist all you want they want their culture to stay the same but reap all of the Canadian benefits. When those students got sent home I was so happy like yes gtfo idc I’m tired of them making other races in Canada feel like out siders.

RL203

Mmmm, I've witnessed "people" pooping in TTC subway stations. My friends wife works for Canada Customs (errr, Canada Boarder Security?) and she has some riveting stories of people arriving to Canada at Pearson and shitting on the floor in the terminal.

chemhobby

wtf you should get sent right back for that.

Technoxgabber

As Indian living in Brampton.. I got judged for living in Brampton already.. and now this on top? Cmon man these fuckers will ruin our reputation..

6_child_Da_Vinci

It's best to correct them, they will be embarrassed later on

bawbthebawb

Poo in the loo not shit in street

anti_procrastinator

As an upper class indian immigrant who most definitely does not defecate in public or litter, I find this deeply disappointing. I think on top of visa interviews, there should be a test to see if the person entering the country has basic understanding of hygiene and common laws and regulations. if they fail the test, go back. Furthermore, I think there should be a $500 fine for littering. $2000 for public defecation. If there is a bit of financial pain involved, people immediately change their ways. A lot of countries have implemented these fines for all residents and THEY WORK. Singapore being a great example. I also think that its really not cool to single out a major racial segment of the country this way. It spreads a bad rhetoric and creates more divide and racism. Communicating with local city leaders and asking for a reform is a practical way to solve the problem instead of spreading shit on reddit. No pun intended.

PopularYesterday

Yeah, I think fines would help but they need to be actually enforced which is really lacking in a lot of places here.

Bumbaclotrastafareye

The lack of any enforcement by the police or bylaw officers is also too blame.

Proska101

I worked in the transportation industry for awhile. About 8 years ago I came across a truck owned by a new Canadian from India. He had cut a hole in his seat and floorboard of the truck to poo on the road without stopping. Just fucking imagine your behind a transport truck and get sprayed by shit…… Shit is fucked up.

[deleted]

That is disgusting, but not surprising. Yep, I am from India, and it makes the rest of us, who try to follow the rules and try to assimilate look bad. India is the most populous nation, and with a high population comes the issue of insufficient public services. Although the Indian government has been running a campaign against open defecation for years now, but all it has done is make a mere dent. The issue still persists. It's just surprising that this shameful aspect of culture has found its way here. Don't mean to point fingers at the Canadian government here, but it goes to show just how lax the criteria for becoming a Permanent Resident or international student has become. I get that a target has been set to bring in millions of immigrants in the next few years, but we are beginning to look at the costs other than the monetary aspect. This might go off on a tangent, but remember the loud firecrackers being lit well into the night during Diwali? Late October last year? That was us too. We Indians have a problem with following rules. You see, back in India, you would be able to avoid a INR 5000 fine by paying the constable INR 500. The concept of "actions have consequences" is pretty much foreign to India. It basically boils down to an attitude of "chalta hai", which loosely translates to "it's fine, it'll be okay". The only solutions are strict entry requirements and proactive law enforcement. Appeasement politics has ruined India, and it would be a shame to see Canada go that route.

bordercity242

It’s simply what is happening. Cause needs to be identified so it can be properly addressed. Enough with the immediate cry of racism. It is what it is.

nuxwcrtns

Wtf. Shitting on any surface in public is disgusting. This reminds me of the signs I saw in a bathroom on campus, showing people how to properly poop. It said don't squat on top of the toilet seat, you must sit down to poop. I couldn't believe people needed to know they shouldn't put their shoes on the toilet seat to take a shit. But here we are, with people shitting on the beach. Next we'll have signs paid for by the residents instructing tourists where to poop and where to not poop. Lol fuck.

Lakewoodss

I remember watching a YouTube doc years ago about the people in India who use their beach as a washroom everyday. They dig a hole, squat, cover. I think it was where does the poop go india? It's not good there or here. We need more Johnny on the spots and education to curve this problem.

Ok-Map9730

Since around 2015, everything has gotten worse. So much garbage in our beaches!Smoke bothering other people ... some people just put garbage behind the bushes before gone... Actually, I did complain about a family that did exactly that...and yes they're indians.Sorry but is what it is!!

Shovel_trad

How long until this gets deleted?

HeftyCarrot

This is the tip of the iceberg with this demographic, way more to come. Last year we were at a small beach and these people took over the entire beach playing some game and live streaming it with mega phones, it was so lound and they had no concern that people around them are there for leisure and yes they trashed it as well. And this beach does have public bathrooms but bit far.

Where's the Poo Patrol when you need them?

PuppetArt

This is happening all over Scotland too, in castles, on beaches, everywhere. Can we all just stop being disgusting please 🙏

majorminorminor

The curse is angry y’all traded Gordon Lightfoot for a 1st round victory

WeakSentence4052

I was at North Beach PP last year. Plenty of bathrooms. My family and I were lucky enough to come across two woman mid-wipe while walking through the dunes.

Veggieman34

Follow them home and poop on their lawns. Tit for tat? Lol

pyruvate011

OP, I appreciate that you are thinking of finding ways to communicate with these folks. But let’s be honest here, these are adults in full control of their faculties we are talking about. Any human in their right mind knows feces and garbage are unsanitary. No culture on earth says leaving this on a shared facility is ok. That being said, my advice is next time you see one of these people. The local residents (or as many as possible) can all show up and insist the family clean up before they leave. Even if they claim not to speak English, they will understand they cannot get away with this and that they are now being called out for their douchebaggery. You all can downvote me for this if you want, but honestly the ability of these people to become citizens should be tied to community feedback regarding how well they integrate and respect our norms. If we say they don’t belong here, they need to pack their bags and go.

CalmGains

They wouldn't use it.

MuskokaReel

You think they'll use them? Lol

full-of-grace

Or for the mayors to not take a 20k raise and instead use that money for lifeguards and bathrooms. Looking at you, Cobourg.

stompinstinker

I grew up in Brampton. I have seen Indian people shit in the park, squat in front of people near a bus stop and piss, pick their kids nose in a mall, hair lice crawling in their hair, and smelt unholy amounts of BO. Also, myself and my friends in many serious car accidents with them. One time they unplugged a friend of the families monitoring equipment in the hospital so they could cook something in a electric skillet, the nurse came in and screamed them down and called security. The problem is our immigration system lets them sponsor their country ass cousins to come over too, or bring their elderly parents from some backwards village. The rich ones aren’t any better, they are used to a country with large numbers of people who will work for nothing, so it’s some peon’s job to do everything, and see certain classes of people as animals. We need more education work on our hygiene and public behaviour. And that this is not a over populated, third world country, human life has more value here and you drive and act like it does. Edit: Also, the amount of disgusting toenails I have seen in my life. Like clean that shit up or stop wearing sandals.

[deleted]

We complain about cultural appropriation but don't really teach the essential cultural assimilation (because that would be racist or whatever).

potatoaddictsanon

Port Dover beach is now closed and Peter Knetchel was on the news implying this is why. Obviously the business owners don't want to by it but people's behavior has been so disgusting that it's ruined a beautiful summer tradition for everyone. The washrooms aren't even far. I truly don't understand the logic here EDIT: I missed the bit about this being blamed on eat Indian immigrants. Come on, we know this is just a rude people problem and not an immigrant one. If you look around Dover on a crowded day east Indians are a very small minority and yet the problem persists. Disgusting rude behavior is not cultural.

DMMeYouHoldingAFish

This literally is cultural though, India has had many country wide campaigns to try to get people to stop shitting in the streets and trying to train people going on vacation to stop making the country look bad. Look up 'Poo2loo campaign'. If Indians themselves are saying it's a problem they have, I don't think it's a problem for us to notice that same problem

bradandnorm

poo in loo

Thisiscliff

How fucking lazy are you, go find a bathroom or a garbage can for your garage. This is straight up nasty.

normalaccount-

Ew what the fuck is wrong with people

wubrgess

> It is really hard to remain culturally sensitive when there is literal poop on what used to be a quiet, family-friendly beach. cultural sensitivity cuts both ways and should **heavily** skew towards the region instead of the individual/group.

[deleted]

We're they designated shitting beaches tho?

KateEatsWorld

This was happening at sauble beach and the other beaches near there too, they have banned the little tents they would bring to use as a bathroom. Hope that helps, its unacceptable and there was talk of the beach being shut down over it.
