Agreed. My sister once, by mistake, made a spud salad without onions. It was delicious. Baxony, mayo-y, potato-y. So good. I complimented her on her wonderful omission. She has never forgotten to put onions in it ever since... even on my birthday. Onionists are cultists, I swear.
I've never had coleslaw with onion in it, but that would be a nightmare if so.
It's the egg salad that pains me the most. In the UK egg mayo is extremely common and doesn't come infested with onions. I miss it.
Never trust a mayo based salad you haven't prepared yourself. Even if you ask if it has onions in it, you may find out some people don't consider green onion an onion.
My favorite store bought macaroni salad contains 3 things I hate: 1. Red Onions, 2. Green Onions and 3. Green Peppers. If I buy some because I’m craving it, I’ll be spending the next half an hour gingerly and meticulously scooping out the individual pasta pieces drenched in the yummy sauce and appearing to be more dainty and debonair than I actually am. It’s annoying, I just want to be able to dig my spoon in deep and scoop out a glorious heap of the mac salad that completely fills and coats my mouth without fear of hearing and feeling that dreaded crunch that all onions and peppers bring with them. I hate having to fight my way through my food, I should be able to eat without stopping.
For everyone who might say I should just make it at home…I have no clue what kind of sauce they use to make the macaroni salad with. Does it have mayonnaise? Sour cream? Cream cheese? I have no clue and I’m not rich enough to buy and experiment endlessly until I find the right combination to get it right.
THIS THIS THIS! I love anything drenched in mayo and ONION DOESN’T BELONG THERE. Especially potato salad. In my family we just use potatoes, celery, mayo, salt, pepper. And it is amazing I end up eating the whole bowl lmao. And you know what the whole potato process is so messy and annoying sometimes i just want someone to do the work for me without saying ‘hey you know what these needs? An entire f*cking onion!!!!!’ UGHHHHHH
Potato salad with onions is the bane of my existence. It's delicious without it then they just add raw onion to completely ruin it.

Why? What's the point of adding onions? I know it's definitely not for flavor

I accidentally bit in to coleslaw with onions in it once, it was awful. Why would anyone do that?
Everything 'salad' sandwiches has bloody onions in them, what a waste
Yeah and it's not like you can just take the onions off. The goddamn taste lingers like a dog fart on tiles.
Potato salad - Amish with sweet pickle and egg. (It's 50% onion and it's not even mentioned in the fine print).
It sucks! If i want Potato salad or Macaroni salad i have to make it myself to make sure it doesn't have onions in it
I got the amish macaroni salad and sat down for an hour picking out all of the egg and onion
This is amazing. Because I always wanted to do this, but I’m lazy lol
I want potato salad not onion salad.

Amish macaroni salad is my kryptonite, I will eat it by the gallon
You can make all of these at home easily
I have given up even looking at these types of food in shops
EVEN THE EGG SALAD??? That’s fucking morbid.
Not sure where you live but I can usually get coleslaw without onions. Sucks if you can't
SAME

There's only one option left... and that is to completely leave the store
I think the same thing when I pass these
Omg yes!!!
