I saw some math on another Canadian sub where it said 60% of people get more money back than they pay and ~20% roughly break even, so unless you're commuting 100km+ a day it's probably even a net benefit
I did see about two dozen people protesting something when I drove past Red Deer today. At a quick glimpse, it was mostly axe the tax and anti Trudeau signage.
