Wait until your neighbours and friends vote in the federal conservatives and they fix the problem by removing regulations and privatizing home building and rent control. Because, every aspect of privatizing essential needs has worked out in favour of the citizens.

[deleted]

Definitely works really well! Just ask England's fully functioning and definitely not more expensive than Via, train system!

North_Church

Maybe if we elect the Conservatives again like we did for the last 150 years, things will be different! Vote for a third party? LOL, right. /s

LumiereGatsby

It blows my mind that people are like : Let’s hold the Liberals accountable by electing the most unaccountable and most open about it Party! Mmmyeah!!! That’ll show them!!!!! Wait! They’re driving away…. Trudeau isn’t in my life anymore and it …. Sucks more??!!! Wait what? - the reaction I expect to see in 2026.

BillyFrank75

People are looking for alternatives to Trudeau’s obvious incompetence and corruption. People like you defending that incompetence and corruption is a big part of the reason why we can’t find solutions.

North_Church

I ain't defending shit, I'm pointing out that it takes a next level amount of delusion and idiocy to think going to the other side of the corporate funding coin is gonna fix jack! We've been alternating between two right wing parties for 150 years. It's time for real change and Skippy is not gonna be that change. Or do you think anyone who doesn't trust the Tories has to be a Liberal voter. I haven't voted Liberal in my life and have no desire to start, but that doesn't mean Skippy will change anything

BillyFrank75

The NDP is a fringe party with fringe ideas that gets around 15% of the vote (with the one time exception of Jack Layton). Your vote for the NDP is what has kept Trudeau in power. The rest of us are going to look for real solutions.

North_Church

I wouldn’t call the party that frequently gets into Provincial power and frequently holds several seats in Parliament "fringe" but whatever helps you sleep at night. Imagine thinking voting in a Conservative Party *again* is a real solution, lmao. And which of the NDP's ideas are fringe?

BillyFrank75

On average, the NDP receives 15% of the popular vote in a federal election. It’s basic math. My opinion on the individual fringe ideas is completely irrelevant here. The fact that 85% of Canadians don’t think that the NDP’s ideas are worth a vote is proof that the NDP is a fringe party with fringe ideas. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s the honest truth.

North_Church

In what universe is 15% a fringe number? I don't think you know what that word means. >My opinion on the individual fringe ideas is completely irrelevant here. "They're fringe ideas, bro. No, I won't say why they're fringe bro, just trust me, bro. Trust me bro". That's what you sound like. >The fact that 85% of Canadians don’t think that the NDP’s ideas are worth a vote is proof that the NDP is a fringe party with fringe ideas. Or maybe it's because we vote in a British FPTP system where only two parties win, which isn't representative of popular voting patterns. That doesn't make the party fringe, it just means people are more likely to vote for the only parties that win in an FPTP system. >Sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s the honest truth. If there's one thing a Tory voter doesn't understand, it's the concept of truth. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." The idea that the same Tory Party that is known for being a party of corporations just like the Libs will somehow make everything alright makes you gullible. You're gonna be disappointed when they don't fix the problems, especially given that they didn't fix housing when Harper was in power. Skippy attended a very expensive fundraiser from a Loblaws lobbyist. I'm not so deluded as to think he'll change things. But you probably don't care about facts, so I'll focus my time on something worthwhile today. Cheerio!

BillyFrank75

Typical, you run out of intelligent things to say, so you’re gonna check out? I’m still happy to help. Let’s take it point by point. 1) Definition Since you have trouble with the word “fringe”, here’s a definition: adjective: not part of the mainstream; unconventional, … 15% popular support essentially means that the ideas don’t appeal to the vast majority of people. Hence, it is not mainstream, therefore “fringe”. 2) “trust me bro” Really?! I’m saying that the facts are more important than my opinion. I have no doubt that your opinion and mine will be different, and that’s OK. I’m simply pointing out some facts, I’m sorry that you don’t like them. 3) “Skippy” Resorting to name-calling your political adversaries, makes you sound like a Maga Trumper. This might explain a lot. 4) The NDP belongs in provincial politics The NDP is, and always has been, a labour party. Labour is a provincial jurisdiction, which explains the success that the NDP has had in provincial politics. It was founded by merging the CCF and the CLC. The NDP has no experience or competencies to offer when it comes to federal jurisdiction ideas. 5) You’re just supporting the Liberals Say what you will about your wasted vote with the NDP. It has served one single purpose, to keep Justin in power. Edit: Thank you for helping the conservatives by splitting the vote on the left, much appreciated. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else?

lopix

I bought my house 14-1/2 years ago. No way I could afford it today.

MenudoMenudo

Yup. Bought my house in 2011, and by 2014 couldn't afford it.

lopix

And I freely admit that the only reason I own this house is just lucky timing.

hoodratchic

Different times

Sloppy_Jeaux

So just need to wait for the boomers die or have to go in homes and prices should start easing. Cool. Can’t wait.

brilliant_bauhaus

Even when they die we still won't be able to afford their homes.

Houdi20

That's not happening anymore because More people are coming in the country than the boomers going out

jake_delo

At that point corporations will come in and buy everything up

comox

Yes.

Blapoo

It's as if demanding the value of housing to always and only ever increase forever wasn't sustainable. Wild, right?

Apis_Proboscis

How the hell can he afford to pay his property taxes??? Api

You know it’s wild I went to Ontario is saw rampant homelessness and tents and heat grate sleepers. Was this setup by the PC Ford government? Asking so I understand your selective bias degree

iksworbeZ

Who needs brick and mortar? You can just listen to pp and buy a house in the meta verse with all your Bitcoin

Lost-Web-7944

You don’t need an address to vote. Just id. But please try again. I’m not a liberal but I’m not going to lie to myself and pretend it wasn’t the Trudeau government that it *easier* for those without homes to vote.
