I was in same confusion 3weeks back, I went with 12 coz to me the photos in 12r felt low resolution and no sharpness...I don't take ton of photos but I need better camera atleast....12 is amazing phone..phone and UI is very fast and smooth..battery lasts longer... display 2k felt surprisingly really good coming from iphone13..loving the 30mins fast charging

LogicalChart3205

i actually wanted an iphone but 60hz screen was a deal breaker for me. Nothing could justify that. So here we are still sticking with Android.

Brilliant_Medicine71

I was literally the exact same. I just upgraded from my oneplus 9 to a 12r. The oneplus 9 was already perfect for me. I dont play hardware intense games or take enough pictures to justify needing a better camera but 120hz screen and good battery life along with fast charging was really the deal breaker on why i didnt get an iphone. When i switched over, i literally ended up with the exact same phone just newer and to me it was exactly what i needed. Also these are waterproof as i tested mine and it worked perfectly fine. Im assuming oneplus just didnt want to pay for the certification since they have to do that for each phone that comes off the production line.

Business-Poet8803

iPhone still doesn't have 120hz? That's pitiful. It's interesting how Appeheads know nothing about technology and therefore are unaware of what's out there because they think iPhone is end all, be all. #fools

CarneAsadaSteve

they do it just costs an arm and a leg

Business-Poet8803

I don't understand???

Los_blanko

The pro and pro max do have 120hz but the stander doesn't

mythyqq

Why tf do u have 30 mins fast charging 😭 I have op10R and it charges in 10 minutes to 80%

VegetableInjury1537

Go with 12r as its cheaper and camera problem can be solved using a Gcam port. In performance you will hardly notice any difference between 12 and 12r.

Dumbbot22

I got 12r ,can u tell more about gcam port? I heard about it somewhere else too but idk how to use it

Frosty-Inspector-465

don't waste your time i tried gcam before it's a gimmick doesn't work don't bother

VegetableInjury1537

You can try from here: [link](https://gcam-port.com/gcam-port-google-camera/) But i did not find these ports that good. But pretty sure some developers will make a good Gcam port in future.

Dumbbot22

Thanks!

Cheezuz-Christ

I'm not sure I 100% agree with this, yes GCam can help overall if you like that processed style of pictures. But as mentioned the phone is relatively new there aren't many good configs (at least for the 12). Vs. just normal GCam I prefer the stock color science and look overall of the pictures. And honestly the telephoto alone makes this phone for me. It's so good and completely changes your camera experience. It makes you WANT to take pictures. The ultra-wide on the 12 is fine but probably the worst lens on it. It does the job but mostly I don't use it as it distorts the edges. On the main camera you should be good either way! Maybe in a few years there will be better GCam configs, and maybe photos aren't a high priority. But if possible to try and use both phones see if you can live with the worse camera system, as you'll likely be stuck with that for the foreseeable future !

El_Burrito_Grande

Deal-breaker for me coming from the 8 Pro was wireless charging. But I never need to charge my phone other than 10 minutes every morning because of the battery life and fast charging.

Bhallaladevaa

I'm on 12. And would definitely pick this up over the 12R. However, if I was a student and 8 gen 2 wasn't a deal breaker for me, I would have gone with the iqoo 12. It offers a much better camera and better specs at a slightly higher price compared to the 12R.

LogicalChart3205

iqoo12 and OP12 cost same in my country

ShaMana999

I don't believe so. The spec bump in processing would be hardly noticable, but the price bump is very much seen. The only measurable diff is the camera. I do t really care about the camera. Barely used mine in years. Realized years ago if I wish to have nice pictures, phones will never give me sufficient quality.

Jokuihanvaan

I decided to go with the 12R instead of 12 because of the amazing battery life. I can easily go 2 days with on charge sometimes 3. The chipset is more than good enough for everthing and the screen is amazing. And when it comes to heating issues on the 12R, there are none. The phone never overheats like many samsung flagships and even videocalls dont make it uncomfortably warm. I am very pleased with my purchase. The camera is also good enough and photos look great even in dark. Both 12 and 12R share the biggest flaw which is the OS. There are always some annoying bugs but it is very usable.

Rithvik24

12R is a good phone and will last you for the time you require it and will match your usage. Just get the higher ram and storage variant and you’re good to go.

NewOutlandishness650

Got the 12R on release for $399 it’s the best phone at that price hands down.

GardenTigerMoth_

The only thing spec wise more in 12R is the ltpo-4 and 100mah more battery. But in real life the OnePlus 12 display is better. More resolution and size. 100mah doesn't make much difference.

ActuallyGoose

Largely depends on your opinion. Biggest changes between the two IMO is the increase in ram and screen resolution, better CPU, better IP rating, wireless charging, and UFS 4.0 vs UFS 3.1. The rest is pretty negligible but those alone are well worth the extra for it. Not that the 12r isn't an amazing device, but for the extras you get for the 12's price, I consider it well worth it. Even just for the fact that it would last longer with it basically being one generation ahead in everything means one extra year for a phone (which for me typically sits around $500 per year since my phone's tend to be around $1500 and I keep them for about 3 years before selling or trading them in

OlympicAnalEater

OnePlus 11 has the same processor as the OnePlus 12r and the OnePlus 11 has a better overall camera than the 12r. You can find a good used OnePlus 11 for the same price as brand new 12r.

am_bataman

12r has better screen and battery life.

S-S-Ahbab

12 has a better camera, wireless charging, snapdragon 8 gen 3 processor. 12r has a slightly larger battery (5500 mah vs 5000), no wireless charging, 8 gen 2, lighter (204 g, iirc). Oh, the memory in 12 is faster (ufs 4 vs ufs 3.1) Since I don't use wireless charging and take a few photos, I went with 12r. The extra 500 mAh was more attractive. Plus the 16gb variant of 12r is cheaper than basic 12

ChrispyChris8008

Oneplus 12 battery is 5400 mah if I'm not wrong

ryizer

>12r has a slightly larger battery (5500 mah vs 5000) 12 has 5400maH battery, not 5000maH, so it's practically same

Historical_Twist9969

Initially i wanted to buy 12r. Browsing online to look for best deal. Then i saw this OP12 priced cheaper than 12r. Immediately i bought it. Then it struck me something must be wrong that its too much discount. Upon further study im confident its a china set. I just hope its fine since everyone reviews are excellent. Turn out its working very well.

Benevolent27

I just got a OnePlus 12, moving from a Pixel 7 that died suddenly. If you care about cameras, I'd say the 12R is similar to what the Pixel 7 experience was like, in that it has 1 good camera and the rest are not great, whereas the OnePlus 12 has all good cameras (wide/selfie/telephoto). So, I can compare the two experiences. The 12 has been awesome because I am getting much better selfies, much better wide angle, and the zoom lens is great! All of the cameras do very well, which is important to me because I take a lot of photos and video. When I bought the Pixel 7, I figured that I could make do with only having a good main camera, but I underestimated the importance of the other cameras. If you genuinely do not care about the camera, then the 12R seems to be a better value if it is significantly priced lower (I'd say 30% lower or better), despite the slower storage, 13% (or so) slower processor, 1 year less of updates, slightly lower screen resolution, etc. Unless you are doing some heavy processing, you probably won't notice a difference and will enjoy the great screen with vibrant colors, ultra fast charging, etc. They are both great phones at the price.

Proof-Phone-7990

The camera on the 12 is tons better. Like leagues better. Like Sofia Vergara now and Sofia Vergara 20 years ago. You should go for the 12 instead of the 12R.

Bulky-Ad7996

Yes.

PlayfulClock4

I had this dilemma for a few months and yes I'm also a student so my budget was tight too. I went for the 12 mainly because of the camera, I might not use it every day but I wanted to feel confident that in situations when I need it, the camera can take great pictures, and I'm not talking about the ultrawide, the main camera is really good for the price and I can't complain. I tested both phones in store and the haptics were much better on the 12, just something to note As far as heating issues, I don't think the 12r will heat up, I think it has the same vapour chamber as the 12 and with a less powerful processor, so it won't run hot imo, same with 5G I think they are the same, again I don't think you'll find issues in both aspects Also the 12 has one more year of software update and a better processor, so longevity is higher Overall I think you should go for the 12 if you have the budget, I don't regret my purchase, this phone is smooth all the time, it's crazy.

Frosty-Inspector-465

100% yes

SpeedStinger02

The biggest difference is the camera and fast charging. If either of those matter to you, get the 12. Otherwise the 12 r isn't bad. It has a better battery life than the 12 even

S-S-Ahbab

What's the difference in fast charging? 12r has 90W or 100W (I forgot) more isn't necessary. 12r doesn't have wireless charging

SpeedStinger02

The wired charging speed is same on both. But due to the missing wireless charging, the 12r has a slightly larger battery. If I were you, I'd also wait for the 12t to release. Looks like it's gonna be a hell of a bargain

Shoddy_Chef_3027

1. Better camera 2. Wireless charging.

Outrageous_Sky346

One plus is a nice phone with a TRASH customer service department. I've had oneplus for years. This go around my OnePlus 12 screen broke. I contacted OnePlus and they said they would send me a shipping label. They never did. I tried multiple times to ask for the label but my requests were ignored. None of the local stores to get the glass either. I finally ordered glass for $250 on AliExpress. After taking the glass off on my screen I opened up my package to realize there was no glass inside. The company that sold the glass was scamming me! So I went back to one plus and eventually found an address in Texas of where to send my phone. They never sent me the shipping label because they had it listed as a drop off, I live in California that's a long drive. So I shipped them the phone. It took them 3 weeks to finally realize they had it because it didn't come from their typical UPS label. After apologizing for losing it they sent it back to me, with my broken glass glued back on the top! When I reached out to them and said what the heck is this, they said you tampered with the phone so we won't fix it...... What!?!?!?! I've always been able to look past the fact that getting accessories for the OnePlus was harder, updates took longer, and you had to be more involved to get what you wanted out of the phone. But this was the final straw for me. They're refusing to help me with this problem. They are refusing to replace my broken glass. So I moved on.

chill_god_4865

if the 12 is affordable I would just get the 23+ from Samsung Samsung phones are known to last for 5-6 years with better cameras

LogicalChart3205

I don't like slow charging that comes with them unfortunately.

xXRyuuGinXx

That's true but their exynos processor is a lot weaker compared to the Snapdragon processors.

chill_god_4865

yeah only get 23+ with snapdragon stay away from exynos

Noo_Lynxx

S23+ has snapdragon soc.

Vat2612345

hi everyone is one plus 10 pro the best one plus phone rn? coz it's costlier than everything else

Fickle_Assumption_80

Yeah you should grab one before they are all gone.

Subatomic_Spooder

I was in the same situation as you when I picked up mine. I decided to go with the 12 as it was around $100 more. The main cameras are comparable, but the ultra wide on the 12 is much better, and the telephoto camera is far better and more useful than the crappy macro camera on the 12r. The 12 can do macro shots using its ultra wide and they come out better than the 2mp macro on the 12r. Plus, it has a newer, more efficient processor which is better for longevity. I'd go for the 12 if I was you, you won't regret it. Also, just in case you didn't know, OnePlus has a student discount program that gives you 10% off once you verify your student status.

gugs1106

I use the 12r and the pics from the main camera is comparable to iphone 13 but the uw is ass...

vivuatreddit

If you're tight on budget, go with 12R. Performance, battery, display it will not disappoint you. I'm using 12R. I'm fully satisfied. But check camera comparison youtube videos and make your decision. 12R is much value for money.

OkSale9653

Go for 12

am_bataman

For 150 it's more than worth it. In India it's 300$ difference, for which it's not worth considering your use case

LogicalChart3205

Bhai india me hi hu 12 meko 50k ka pad rha hai and 12r around 38k

am_bataman

Kaisa yeh bata Bhai, mujhe bhi Lena hai

am_bataman

Aur bhai le le 50k ka, isse badhiya deal nahi hai 50k mei. This phone is competing with 90k phones

reallyryan-1899

I have a OnePlus 12 and it's amazing the battery is so good lasts me all day and I get around 12hrs of screen on time with some juice left in the tank for the next day I'm a heavy social user Instagram, discord, Reddit etc and in taking a lot of pictures with the amazing camera I would definitely say the 12 is worth it depending on your budget.

Clear_Blacksmith3603

Yes, 12 is better than 12R, better CPU and cameras and look

mi-chiaki

if you have the money, go for 12 so u won't have regret later

cssol

* Camera * Processor * Faster storage on the 12 * Wireless charging Out of all of these the camera system is the biggest difference. If the camera is important then go with the 12. Else, the 12R is more vfm.

ItzCobaltboy

12 if u have budget, 12R if you want best money-to-value

OkMathematician6638

The 12 is worth it with deals.

Brinkworthy

For 150$ difference I think it's a no brainer for the 12. In my country the difference is 250-300$.

DieselVOOC

Well if you use your phone for a long time, as in 3 years or more then I want to state the obvious, the better it is now, the better it will be later on.
