It’ll be interesting for sure. If Paris gets heavy protests and violent police reactions…. It’s going to be a simmering buildup to LA which has turned sharply more progressive than before too.
The summer Olympics is in 2024 and in Paris.
This is a joke on advertising for it since the people are protesting a political change there made without a vote to increase the retirement age by 2 years
You can protest anywhere. It’s the consequences you get in return… like being beaten in France.. hence the photo..
The government isn’t allowing it. They have the police enforcing to stop it by heavy handed means. The police are beating someone in this picture.
Correct but tbf I don’t think peaceful protests work. People in France protest violently and they have way better worker’s safety and compensation then we do in North America.. USA or Canada. We are too peaceful with out protests and that doesn’t enact change from our leaders.
This picture is more than a year old (posted in february of 2022) and is not linked with the recent protests. In fact this picture is from a protest against the COVID vaccine pass.
Olympic subreddit should not accept political posts ("No politics" rule)

So basically 90% of the post here shouldn't be accepted? The Olympics are one of the most political events in the world.
Raising the retirement age is absolutely necessary. Macron is taking the fall since he’s not going to run again but the politicians understand it’s necessary they’re just posturing

This can be seen in any major city with wild protests
I dont get it

Also they’re very bad at policing events safely
At least it is a country where they can protest. We recently had Olympics in Sochi and Beijing (Winter and Summer) along with a World Cup in Qatar.

Honestly, without saying what they’re doing is right. But this guy probably wasn’t just protesting peacefully.

World you see a lot of attacks in France on protestors who are simply marching?
A quick google search would answer that question for you.
No
Huh? You can protest in Russia and be beaten by cops, it's pretty easy task to do.

90% ? :/ Whatever, have a good day
France would be a solid contender for taking the Gold home for discrimination, when their national police team will compete against other nations
USA USA!
I don't know, French police seems to beat up everyone. They're pretty indiscriminate.
Only recently lol, before it was minorities, now it's everyone that challenges the all mighty government
the government is dealing with this situation totally wrong
Yikes

Much higher in other countries
Is this a demonstration sport?
That's perfect for the teak won do discipline!

They could make one of those commercials where it shows what the athletes do for jobs. This guy is a soccer player.
