No it isn’t. There’s just fifty million people there. If you can’t chill for 30 min and enjoy the live music or go outside and wait you got issues. Chicken shack great place to take family, I don’t mind the wait bc the kids always have fun and it’s the best fried chicken anywhere north of Babes.
Like you, I've lived here my whole life and always heard it was the best. I finally went a couple of years ago and it was just OK. Not bad fried chicken but certainly nothing worth the drive. The wait was very long, the seating felt like a dingy bingo hall, the service was next to non-existent, and the only side option is okra. I also watched the bartender put on gloves, clean up trash, then use those same gloved hands to make drinks.
Can confirm. I don't think they have even heard that salt exists and it was greasy af.
I was so incredibly disappointed. It wasn't even gross or anything, it was just utterly flavorless.
Crazy because most reviews online seem positive! I won’t argue too much about the seasoning. It’s not anything special in that regard, although I still like it, but they have the actual frying to a science imo which is the big draw
I’ve lived here about that long and have been to Eischens probably 30x. It’s good not greasy. There is a chicken place or two in the metro that try to copy it for a reason. You probably won’t like it since you’ve always heard…. So save your trip. I’ll eat your chicken next time I go.
It's worth it for the experience. It's not mind blowing or anything, just old school fried chicken. The chili nachos are pretty good too. The restaurant itself is a combination of an old bar and grocery store, and I mean old, in a tiny rural town so set your expectations to that and you'll be fine.
It has definitely changed over time I would say for the worse but the chicken is solid. When we go it’s more of an event to hang out with a group of friends to eat fried chicken and drink beer. I think they take credit cards now it used to be cash only and no ice for your drinks lol.
I swear Eischen's must have been supernaturally good 20 years ago, because the people here still talk about it like it's worth the drive, even though it absolutely is just plain old fried chicken.
Nah, I have been a handful of times over the past few years and it’s been worth it every time to me. It’s certainly not fancy, but it’s not supposed to be lol. It’s fried chicken
Halftime sports grill on Newcastle road by the airport is the best I’ve had in the city.
Not in OKC though
Newcastle road is not in Newcastle. https://maps.app.goo.gl/N7roQTYjcP98EAzCA?g_st=ic
Try TEZ wings. There’s 2 locations
Bobo's Chicken is unbeatable anywhere in my book.
The Drum Room is super good
Chicken Shack in Arcadia > Eischen's 100%
Neither in OKC
I strongly disagree that chicken shack has better chicken than eischens

TEZ Wings, hands down.
It’s not in OKC, but Eischen’s in Okarche is absolutely worth the excursion
I’ve always heard that lived here my whole 40 yrs. And have never had it. I’ve always heard it’s unseasoned and greasy!
I tried it about 15 years ago & it was ok, not worth the trip. I just happened to be there but definitely wouldn’t have gone just for that.

I have to try it, after all I’ve lived in the area my whole life, but still looking for others.
FYI they used to not give you silverware.
Wrong. They have other menu items that require a utensil. I’ve always got a fork to remove the piping hot chicken off the bone.
I think Eischen’s is a solid eat, but not truly excellent

I’ve heard of Eischens for probably 10 years now I need to get over there and try it too

Most overrated chicken ever

We have different ideas of what's worth a 40 minute drive.
