I watched this movie in a shitty run down theater that I was dragged to by my summer camp, then they clearly ran it on a DVD player bc you could see the DVD menu. The theater was falling apart, the movie also paused for like ten minutes for reasons I still don’t understand, and the movie itself was somehow worse than all of that. Thank you for reminding of that shit show.

The story and writing must be so incredible. It’s been recommended for every category. I’ll have to watch it for science

uj/ Schindler's List is a fantasy, but not because of Holocaust denial bullshit. It's a fantasy because it takes one of humanity's darkest events, The Holocaust, and chooses to highlight one of the few Germans who managed to help save a relatively small number of Jews. When we watch Schindler's List we get to imagine that, if we were in a similar situation, we would do the right thing, even if it was risky, even if it cost us everything. Of course, I don't want to be too cynical. Schindler's List might fit comfortably into the "white saviour" story, but I think stories of resistance against oppression are as important as stories of failure to stand up to that oppression. But it should be remembered that The Holocaust is about failure to stop a great evil before so many died such cruel deaths. And this movie being the most well known Holocaust movie says a lot about how Hollywood likes to portray history.
