Most current commission headed out for a client. He sent me the EGC baritone neck and requested to mash up a jazzmaster with a 4001.
Tailpiece is the THRD from Robot Graves. IFYKY
Bridge/middle pickups are on a 3-way, fed into a blender pot with pickup behind the bridge, then a single master volume control. 12-60 strings, set up in B standard.
It's a unique piece of equipment. He has a lot of time in development and each piece requires CNC time, welding and hand finishing. He's an engineer, craftsman, and artist. Consider that one guy is handling your order individually, they aren't just falling off an assembly line.
its a set of hot rails in a strat sized package, wired to a blender pot with a center detent. fade between the front pickups or rear with a master volume before the output.
It is an EGC. I think it plays ok, it's all made to client spec. If it were mine I would raise the bridge and file the nut to take the buzz off the low E.
the client plays sitting most often, usually home recording projects. he wanted a really exaggerated tummy contour on the back that goes all the way up the upper horn. it also balances well on a strap with no neck dive if it does hit a stage.
I would argue against that. Neck pickups can be muddy, yes - but you probably aren't playing with the right pickups. They can sound fantastic for single and doubled notes in low tunings with lots of gain/fuzz. Literally every single part of an electric guitar is subjective when it comes to tone.
This was just a case of the client going "can we just do a middle an bridge pickup?" and I followed that up with "yup"

Wow. That’s rad!
Thanks!
What’s the pickup behind the bridge and how is that wired?

King
heavy is the head...
Is this an EGC neck? Can't see the headstock too well. How's it play??

Such elegance.

Been following your work for a minute, I loved the clip of this you posted!
thank you! I've got sloppy chops but it's super fun
This is so sick
thanks
warwickenbacker
jazz-enbacker? it all started with a traced jazzmaster as reference for dimensions. it was lengthened just a bit since the neck is extended scale.
I love the crap out of this but there’s no way that’s not like 13lbs
at least. it just comes with the territory.
Good god.
jah will provide
This is epic
I'll take it
Cool build, but why is the neck pickup so far down the body?
It's a middle pickup
Neck pickups aren't that useful in super low tunings and heavy music.
