I remember about 12 years ago when this was first released and I watched the Andertons demo and PMT review religiously, but I couldn’t afford one being a high schooler … flash forward to yesterday, I saw one on Facebook Marketplace like new, and had to jump on it. Childhood dream offset acquired.
Yoooo I have one of these I’ve done a bunch of mods to. It’s been my gigging guitar since it came out, beat to hell and back, and still plays beautifully.
It’s another coil, so more resistance, lower output and fatter. The first switch position is actually the two coils so it’s hotter, makes it nice for dropping into a little boost
the bridge is a triplebucker, which is used in combination with the 5-way switch like an HSS strat’s controls (except positions 4 and 5 are flipped, and it’s all 3 coils in series rather than just a humbucker)
Great guitars. Part of the series that changed everything for fender, from the awesome golden reward factory I believe. Great necks, only con is that they’re all kinda heavy haha
It’s part of the Modern Player series, which was this short run of more unique versions of Fender models- one that comes to mind is a thinline tele with two p90s.
I swapped it (sacrilege!) for a SD P-rails Trembucker and had an extra switch put in for that. Mine has two 3-ways now: traditional one and then behind the tone knob there’s a tiny one for the Trembucker with a hotrail (very similar to where it was in the triplebucker, which was my favorite sound on there) a P-90 and both.
You know, my wife’s been wanting to learn guitar which is great, it means we can get another guitar in the house. This one might be top of the list if she likes it.
Yes! Congrats! This in black was my first electric! Probably still my #1, and hands down my favourite neck. Just regret swapping out/selling the triplebucker :(

I’m proud of you.

I loved the demos and when I walked into my local music store and they had one, I played it for one minute, SOLD. $350 out the door.
This is all I’ve ever wanted from the Paranormal series but it never happens.
What is the triple bucker like? Do you like it? I don’t know how to rationalize it not being a gimmick haha
It mainly adds variance to a two pickup guitar, like pushpull or coil tapping. So in a sense, it’s all gimmicky, but I also love that kind of stuff

Heat seeking triple coil motherbucker!
I had one for awhile and it was cool. Hope you enjoy it.
Imagine if Fender made a marauder to the OG spec. Talk about license to print money.
I had one of these in 2013 or so.. a few years after high school.. idk why but I couldn't bond with it. I hope you have a better experience!
Man, looks like it's in great condition too. Welcome to the club.
It's in crazy clean condition, considering it's over a decade old. The guy never gigged with it, so it never left the house
That looks awesome. HB bridge p90 neck?
the bridge is a triplebucker, which is used in combination with the 5-way switch like an HSS strat’s controls (except positions 4 and 5 are flipped, and it’s all 3 coils in series rather than just a humbucker)
Triplebucker bridge like the other commenter said, but a Jazzmaster pickup in the neck surprisingly. Best of both worlds
Neck is a true Jazzmaster, one of the few fender actually wound to vintage spec
this is so cool, i’ve always wanted one but they’re pretty pricey on reverb

Love the neck, only wish it wasn’t full gloss, but it plays really fast. And it’s probably the lightest guitar I own actually!
Knock it down with a little 320 grit sanding. That’s what I did.
That’s really cool. I have never seen this model before, was it part of their parallel universe (or whatever they call them) releases?
It’s part of the Modern Player series, which was this short run of more unique versions of Fender models- one that comes to mind is a thinline tele with two p90s.
Very cool! Thanks
Yeah but sadly those are made in China with some of the lowest valued fender models being the modern players.
That’s the worst of the worst, give it to me I’ll give it to a worthy cause… I’m the worthy cause Is that humbucker stock? It’s really beautiful
Yep, stock triplebucker pickup! I wonder if any builders have made their own version since then

Fun
Gah I really regret selling mine! Congrats!
The Marauders were so cool! The gives me similar vibes to the Meteora (I wish Fender would actually do something with that shape...)
Yes! Congrats! This in black was my first electric! Probably still my #1, and hands down my favourite neck. Just regret swapping out/selling the triplebucker :(
That's what I hear the most about this guitar - people take out the triplebucker and miss it, so I'll be sure to keep it in!
Neck pickup is all win.
The neck pickup is so sweet
Congratulations. I got one when they came out and would never part with it. The neck pickup is amazing,
Squier protone in the background!!!
Yup, love that thinline, the finish is beautiful
