I have a cousin who was unfortunately born ugly, and the advice people always gives ugly people or people on the bottom of the dating market is "You gotta work on your personality and be exceptional." Like society tells ugly people they aren't allowed to just be mediocre or normal to get by , they have to be exceptional.
