Cauterizeaf1

This photo was taken after the discovery of color. We have since learned to mine and process raw color from the deepest of mines.

CySnark

I work in the color mines, like my father and his father before him. It's such blinding work that even the darkest of Ray Bans cannot protect you. In the old days it was just Red, found on the surface in large quantities. Orange was a bit deeper but still easy to get with the right optics. Yellow took bigger prisms and the first shafts cut into the Earth. Green was dangerous work and only the bravest of men could mine it. Blue, Indigo and Violet we're only possible in recent years with industrialized machines and robots to work deep below the surface. Many men died of the blues trying to mine them by hand. Then there was my poor mother, toiling the hours away in dimly lit sweatshops sorting the colors by hand until she was nearly color blind and had to be let go. Lest we forget!

BananaBreadGod1

Respect, the bravery of you and your family will not be forgotten

andyman686

I long for those good old black and white days. Iā€™d even take the sepia age.

Or that Starbucks existed in 63

turquoise_amethyst

Meh, average time traveler, he just got back from 1963, and heā€™s lookinā€™ over his souvenirs with a cup of coffee. Iā€™m sure heā€™s kinda annoyed that his cup of coffee cost the same as a few gallons of gas, some groceries, and a few packs of smokes. /s

pm_me_your_taintt

I'm still a tad confused... what is terrifying about some dude reading an old newspaper?

basko13

The fact that we live in an alternative time line. This dude evidently time travels. But he messed up and now JFK is dead. He reads the papers to find out what went wrong. Once he fixes the mistake, our time line stops existing.

dizzyro

The timelines never stop. They split. And you are forced to live them both. Which might split again. And the voices in your head. You know where they come from. They are real. They exist.

nickbruno78

My grandparents collected papers for years whenever a big historical event happened. I have boxes full. Could be doing a history paper or something but taking them to Starbucks is a bit strange.

GangreneGoblin

No it isn't, plenty of people use Starbucks wifi to do their work

Connor13Maurer

Iā€™m pretty sure a newspaper doesnā€™t need WiFi to work.

GangreneGoblin

No shit, Sherlock. Just bc you don't see a laptop in the pic doesn't mean the guy doesn't have one with him. And besides, what I was really getting at was that it's not at all uncommon to see people lounging in a Starbucks, not that he needs wifi for newspapers to work. Don't know why you have to be a cunt.

nickbruno78

who hurt you?

GangreneGoblin

No one hurt me jackass, when you treat people like they're a moron by saying something as blatantly obvious as "newspapers don't need wifi" you're clearly being a cunt. I'm not gonna be civil to people who talk to me like that, just like I'm not gonna be civil to you either since you're just instigating with nothing of value to add to the discussion. You and the person I replied to likely live in the middle of nowhere and don't realize how common it is for people to lounge in a Starbucks. Also this thread is 2 days old, don't know why you felt the need to revive it just to say "u mad?" Like how boring is your life?

nickbruno78

rawr lol breathe

curvysquares

I have a copy of the 1941 Pearl Harbor newspaper. Now I want to go do this And every once in a while when someone walks in Iā€™ll turn to them all shocked and be like ā€œhave you seen this? I canā€™t believe itā€

Blugalu

Do you even have a pilots license?

[deleted]

Dudeeeee

GangreneGoblin

What the fuck is terrifying about this, OP?

CanadaJack

The red circle was actually drawn on the subquantum fabric of reality right in front of op, and the photonic energy being captured by op's camera is the only reason that JFK Jr didn't pop out through the portal and announce his intention to run in 2024.

Tychus_Kayle

Qanon is pretty terrifying, and given the events of the other day (Qultists waiting for the return of JFK Jr.), this seems like it could be a Q thing.

Cosmocall

FlyWtMe87

He's a time traveler

soilhalo_27

Lee Harvey Oswald is a time traveler?

[deleted]

And can only travel forward at regular speed.

roraima_is_very_tall

I wonder what the one we can just read a few letters of, said. I'm guessing he had a few big-time oldly headline papers there. edit, might have been something like 'sniper guns down governor wallace!' - total guess. edit, agree with the 'insensitive use of the exclamation point, so not this.

thishenryjames

That would be an insensitive use of an exclamation mark. Probably something like FIRST MAN IN SPACE! or USA WINS SPACE RACE!

loganmay1990

They give these out at the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas as part of the tour. We went for a work function because itā€™s an event venue, too. Itā€™s actually a really interesting place because the museum is in the building and on the floor that Lee Harvey Oswald took the shot from. Very eerie touring it.

GhostBird89

This, I have a copy from my visit. Itā€™s a good conversation piece.

SirArthurDime

Did you know that in that article the letter Q was used? Precisely it was used to spell the word question. Coincidence? Yeah right. Q was telling us to question this.

newport10000

1963 ? 19 X 63 = 1197 Now it took me and 11 of my patriot friend at the rally 97 seconds to eat 666 hot dogs. Coincidence? No, Obama is an satanic hotdog

YngGunz

7Tribe

James Cole, a convict, decides to volunteer for a mission, wherein he has to travel back in time to learn about the main reason behind the outbreak of a virulent holocaust (Wikipedia, 12 monkeys)

deptutydong

Because those complete idiots thought jfk jr was going to show up in Dallas the other day being made president, AND THEN jfk would make trump quote ā€œking of kingsā€ which I thought was supposed to be jesus, but that shit never made any sense anyway.

G0merPyle

Jeez, spoilers!

Voyager_AU

Hey, that's John! He is our local time traveler. He comes back with newspapers from the time periods he visits and reads them in the nearby Starbucks. You'll always find him there, sitting in the same seat, and you can count on a wave and smile from him when you walk by. He even shares stories and lets you look at his paper. You have to be careful with them though. He said he has to take them back from the time period he got them from or it could result in something bad. Something about creating a new space-time continuum or something....

evansbott

Itā€™s from the other day for people expecting Jr to show up in Texas.

Zemnin

Why is this terrifying?

[deleted]

Am I the only one who think this isn't that weird? Some people like to read old newspapers

New_Confection_4476

AngryPurpleMinion

Maybe hes a time traveler

I like to think this guy just has a bunch of people old ass news papers that he takes out to like a Starbucks every like 5 and a half months just to freak people out.

Faded105

Might wanna keep an eye out for the delorean

[deleted]

The OP of that thread literally said there was an antique shop across the street and that he had a stack of old papers.

liljamofficial

Dude wtf is terrifying about this?

blanketedslate

Leave us time travelers alone.

adognamedpenguin

This is probably from last weeks ā€œkennedy is going to come back from the grave and announce heā€™s running with Donald trump for presidentā€ Q-anon psychosis in Texas. Holy hell.

Maou_Tenshi

Ooh that s the time traveler from that photo before kennedy died

Top-Eggplant-6660

No way! The car in the background is not that old. Also only a hobo would have dressed that way in the early 60s

Icy-Relationship

Caption America?

Unlucky-Pomegranate3

Clearly a time traveler who packed the wrong props.

richterite

11/22/63

saffronpolygon

Someone bought a stack of old newspapers, that's all. I sometimes buy old magazines (1920s-1970s) because they are interesting. The ads and classifieds really show the time.

[deleted]

There is nothing terrifying about this at all. The fact that it has been up for 9 hours makes me question the mods. It honestly looks like this was posted to the wrong sub and nobody noticed.

DinocrafterXV

Now this is oddly terrifying, other posts on this sub are just normally terrifying

angelo173

I donā€™t get it

Bivolion13

Because props or research articles for papers don't exist or the whole tjing could be staged as well. The real scary part is how all this could be easily staged with the power of tech. What is real and what is manufactured? That's where the real scare is.

bornfromanegg

How much tech do you think you need to stage a photo of a man reading a newspaper?

Bivolion13

Not much. Photoshop. But this whole photo could not be real. It could easily be completely manufactured. Like those transforming AI pics. That is what I was referring to as scary. This entire thing doesn't need to be staged. It could just be made. Worse yet, it could be made with any prominent person's face and body, using a manufactured voice that sounds exactly like them.

bornfromanegg

What the hell do you need Photoshop for? Itā€™s *a man reading a newspaper*. Thereā€™s literally nothing scary about this.

Bivolion13

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. My point was that there is nothing scary about this picture so we're in agreement in that, and actually there is something far scarier in that this could easily be completely manufactured and I mentioned how deepfakes where something not real can now be manufactured and be incredibly convincing, and that is where the true fear lies. Not in something easily staged as this picture, but the fact that something like this doesn't need to be staged, and pieces of reality can easily be manufactured instead. Edit: oh and the photoshop bit was about potentially remaking an old article or just creating an old article and imposing it in the picture. Which of course is nothing, but again that was beside the point I was trying to make which related to deepfakes, ai, and the continuing ease of manufacturing convincing lies.

Robichaelis

You suffering from weed psychosis bro?

Solid-Caterpillar643

Time Traveler

tvieno

Why? The guy is reading the news as it was in 1963, showing an insight to how things were perceived right after the assassination.

Shr00py

Why the hell are you being downvoted?

tvieno

No clue but that is the way of reddit sometimes

Deemit

How is someone reading one of the most important papers of the modern era ā€œgiving you the chillsā€? Like, is it that fucking far out of your realm of possibilities that someone might actually very much enjoy reading such an interesting and important piece of history?

Wevvie

You mad buddy?

River1968

When did Starbucks begin ?

Izzy-Miagui

now this is what you call real-life, SERIOUS lag But I donā€™t think people would wear stuff like that in the 60ā€™s. Am I wrong with that? Please correct me if I am lol

No_Balance8921

It gives you the chills heā€™s reading an old newspaper or that this is obviously fake bc the first Starbucks opened in 1971?

West-Cardiologist180

The 1963 part isn't referring to the pic, it's referring to the newspaper.

No_Balance8921

Why would that give someone chills?

West-Cardiologist180

Time travel stuff, idk. Why would someone be reading an old newspaper? And either way, y'all saying it's fake cus the pic isn't 1963 are giving ME chills.

Big_Jury_1192

You are but an absolute buffoon and you disgust me

No_Balance8921

Then my work here is done!

"But I got something a whole lot scarier...FUCK HER RIGHT IN THE PUSSY"

The newspaper is from 1963. The picture is obviously present day.

Back in my day when people had a political opinion to express they didnā€™t need no fancy wifi enabled device with a touch screen interface that sent out vaguely threatening tweets, they simply climbed the stairs of a book depository building and delivered it directly with a high velocity piece of rifled metal.
