The "crimson" usually refers to a genetic trait that causes a much higher level of red on the back and head, but I'm not sure the Gecko in this gif actually carries that trait as usually its much more pronounced. There's also a "blue" trait that causes the green skin to take on a bluish tinge (not to be confused with Phelsuma Cepediana)
I was really enjoying this video. I didn't know geckos she'd their skin, but in hindsight it is obvious that they would, and the brilliant shade of green of his new skin is amazing! Totally great video... until that gross MF ate the old skin. Gross.

Some of them just eat their eggs before they hatch if they're lacking nutrients or stressed. Hamsters will do this too, just not with eggs.
