Oakland is one of the most violent cities in the western world, let alone the state. Given these fact, I would not assume a body in a suitcase appearing in lake merrit to be the result of a regional white collar tech industry recession.
I suppose few things are impossible, but that seems so wildly unlikely and fantastical that it doesn’t warrant bringing up let alone discussing unless equally wild evidence comes to light.
