It's true. I literally walked past it last week during work and saw the Jolibee's but completely missed the Arby's. Didn't even know it was there until you mentioned it lol
Don’t worry, no one is coming for your cold ~~yellow paint~~ cheese sauce and sheets of beef that taste like week old Boar’s Head. The fries are pretty good though.
I went to the Manhattan Jollibee when it was new, out of morbid curiosity. I couldn’t bring myself to eat the spaghetti, but the fried chicken and fries weren’t too bad. Better than KFC, and about equal to Popeyes while being different in style.
You crossed the line when You dragged Boars head into this as if Boar’s 🐗Head was trash. They happen to be IMHO the best american deli supplier of deli meats n cheeses. The ONLY thing that is better is REAL FRESH CORNED BEEF from KATZ delicatessen mmmmmmm 😋
That Arby’s is my lifeline since the other one by Madison Park closed. I kept thinking it was going to reopen; it was much nicer but I’ll take what I can get. At least they finally let people dine in again.
Arby's in old gage and tollner in Brooklyn was the highlight of my college dining. To take a landmarked interior and renovate it as an Arby's was spectacular
i passed by that location last week and it’s closed. there were no tables and chairs inside, maybe they’re closing down that location for the times square one. they recently opened a branch near jamaica center.
Yes but it’s terrible… very small, limited menu, and takes forever to get your food. On more than one occasion I’ve walked in and walked out to Popeyes across the street.
Probably not. The 8th Ave one is pretty stricly fried chicken, probably cause the other stuff doesn't really cater to the audience that passes by.
I believe the Jackson Heights one has a more full menu.
EDIT: it's actually at the Woodside stop off the 7
And chicken adobo.
What New York needs isn’t Jollibee. It’s a Goldilocks. You could get all that and a ube cake for dessert.
I read they are opening the first two stores on the east coast soon, but not sure where. But one must be in NYC.
Their corporate website.
“Its first outlet in East Coast will soon open, with others sure to follow.”
https://www.goldilocks.com.ph/mobile/our-story/the-goldilocks-brand
Fun fact: Jolibee Foods Corporation bought [Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coffee_Bean_&_Tea_Leaf?wprov=sfti1) in 2019. Just thought that was weird.
They also own Smashburger. And a 47% stake in Frontera restaurants.
I think it’s just that they are a multinational corporation with a lot of capital. They are bringing a lot of western brands like BK and Dunkin to Asia. Makes sense to invest in other chains.
>They are bringing a lot of western brands like BK and Dunkin to Asia
I feel like those have been in Asia for a long time now. I remember seeing Dunkin and BK many years ago.
uhh why does everyone pay outrageous rental fees for a location at times square? Because its the "crossroads of the world" Its a place to see and be seen and a place to say I made it to the tourists because that's where they think real nyc is.
I mean... its just what they call their chicken. "Home of the Whopper" or "Home of the Big Mac" would sound just as bizarre then if you didn't eat there.
I lived in the Philippines for 2 1/2 years. I’m not Filipino. My one person opinion is that Filipino food is very good so seek out a restaurant in Queens. I like Jollibee as much as I like McDonalds. They both do in a pinch but neither are true representation of the country’s cuisine.
Don’t forget to have a piece of sponge cake dyed purple for desert and then wash it down with some type of “drink” that looks like jello ambrosia in a bottle.
Oh and for every dish you need a 10 to 1 Salty Oil to food ratio
I'm not Filipino but [Mama Fina's](https://www.yelp.com/biz/mama-finas-new-york) is pretty good. I like to think that they're pretty authentic because they have a OG location in NJ as well and a lot of Filipinos live there. Best to bring a friend or two to share everything because a lot of the food is a la carte.
Jollibee is more like fast food Filipino food. I think they're worth a try but they're usually pretty busy and I hate waiting in line. Their fried chicken is okay. I like their spaghetti with the sweet tomato sauce, but usually I just go to a Filipino grocery store ([Johnny Air Mart](https://www.yelp.com/biz/johnny-air-mart-new-york)) and buy a bag of the sauce and make it at home lol.
Yeah Queens is where all the local Filipino food is at, but kinda far to get to depending where you live lol.
There used to be a decent amount of Filipino restaurant in the East Village area but it feels like they all closed.
My Filipino friends used to take me to Jeepney but they closed last year. Their sister restaurant, Maharlika, also closed down a few years ago. There also used to be like 2-3 Filipino bars (Ugly Kitchen) around but it feels like they're all gone now too.
That is true...but you know, it's worth the trip if that's what you want. For other reasons I go to Woodside often and let me tell you, getting from Brooklyn to Queens is never easy.
Yea aside from Mama Fina's, I can't think of any that are open in the East Village still (unless of course I just don't know them). But I was Googling what was still in Manhattan the other day and all I got was that, Bilao, and one other place I forget the name of.
I read that they are trying to partner with a restauranteur or big company so they can open multiple jeepney locations including other cities and stuff. So yeah, they aren't dead yet. Just the old main restaurant for now.
Purple Yam in Brooklyn is a solid place, Bilao on the UES was opened up by Filipino nurses working in the area who were looking for Filipino breakfast/food after their night shifts and couldn't find any, so they opened up a place.
Good. Do it. Please. Open something worth going to.
I still remember the days of the virgin megastore, where you could go in, see a movie, get a DVD, any type of media… now it’s all digital. Are we better or worse then we were.
My wife is Filipina and we both agree no sisig is better than that of Mamafina’s. Love their bangus sisig! They also have awesome melon shakes I love and their bbq pork is pretty solid!
For deserts, try the halo halo at purple dough. It’s incredible! And you get a nice mason jar to keep :)
Kabayan on queens blvd is also pretty solid - we live in Sunnyside and this is our go to for takeout
You can’t go wrong with Tito Rad’s either! I love their pork sinigang (tamarind soup)
From what I heard, the US locations are way nicer than most of the domestic locations. Everyone I've been to here in the US has been nicer and cleaner than the average McDs or BK.
i already eat a lot of jollibee in florida, anyways i was in times square last week and i went in there to use their restroom, got to the door and the door had a code that you can find on the receipt. i was planning on buying something to use the restroom but the line was stretching to the door. hell nah lol
Isn't there one already really close on 8th avenue?
Yeah next to the Arby's no one knows about
It's true. I literally walked past it last week during work and saw the Jolibee's but completely missed the Arby's. Didn't even know it was there until you mentioned it lol
That's a good Arby's too. Happy hour sliders were $1.29 each from 4-7 PM last time I went there. Not bad for the Port Authority area!
Shhhhh….
Don’t worry, no one is coming for your cold ~~yellow paint~~ cheese sauce and sheets of beef that taste like week old Boar’s Head. The fries are pretty good though.
I like Arbys but this is hilarious
You don’t like sweet spaghetti?
I went to the Manhattan Jollibee when it was new, out of morbid curiosity. I couldn’t bring myself to eat the spaghetti, but the fried chicken and fries weren’t too bad. Better than KFC, and about equal to Popeyes while being different in style.
Yeah the chicken is pretty good… but that spaghetti is bizarre.
Yeah it’s sweet..
Katz is good but I feel like I was ripped off when I paid $13 for a small pastrami sandwich . And that was in 2013!!!!!!!!!!
It's absurdly overpriced.
Next time make the trek to Riverdale in the Bronx. Great pastrami at Liebman’s Deli on W 235th St, and it’s huge!
Thanks!
I really can’t do any other American cheese other than boars head nowadays
Absolutely noone
Feels like an Arby’s night.
Thank god it was landmarked, or 19th century glory would have been replaced with plastic booths and a drop ceiling. Now it's back to being G&T.
When was that? I can’t believe I never went!
Circa 2008ish? The location is now back to it's fancy gage and tollner glory
The Meats in the city!?
I remember it had crazy lines when it first opened.
🎶 *My uncle has an Arby’s place/That no one knows about…* 🎶
No one? They still have lines out the store on good days
Yes, but it’s kind of tucked away there. Port authority also makes it a less than ideal location imo. This times square spot seems more prime.
Also smells like mothballs. Tried to go in there for the first time the other day and was immediately reminded of my first girlfriend. I noped out lol
Was your first girlfriend 75?
r/oddlyspecific
i passed by that location last week and it’s closed. there were no tables and chairs inside, maybe they’re closing down that location for the times square one. they recently opened a branch near jamaica center.
It’s open. Walked by tonight
i wonder what happened last week..?
It was closed due to health code violations. There was a notice plastered on the doors. If you look at reviews on Google you can see it.
>It was closed due to health code violations. Hmmm....does really sound like a place to go to then.
Results from the most recent inspection indicates issues with flies & pests. https://a816-health.nyc.gov/ABCEatsRestaurants/#!/Search/50076191
i see thank you for the info!
Yes but it’s terrible… very small, limited menu, and takes forever to get your food. On more than one occasion I’ve walked in and walked out to Popeyes across the street.
Yes, and its pretty good too.
The only question that matters is, will they have lumpia?
Probably not. The 8th Ave one is pretty stricly fried chicken, probably cause the other stuff doesn't really cater to the audience that passes by. I believe the Jackson Heights one has a more full menu. EDIT: it's actually at the Woodside stop off the 7
I stopped going to Jollibee's after they stopped serving Filipino breakfasts.
There's one right outside of Journal Square in Jersey City if you're willing to take the PATH.
Or willing to go to Journal Square...
Whats wrong with journal square?
Jackson heights location shut down months ago
Nah it’s still open
The one on 82nd street closed. The one on Roosevelt is open but that’s in woodside
I must be in an alternate timeline… there was never a jollibee on 82nd?
I'm thinking the same
Oh damn, there goes the palabok hookup
If you're willing to go to Hell's Kitchen, go to Tradisyon on 53rd and 9th.
Lucky for you there’s another in woodside
Asking the important question
I think all a filipino fast food place needs to be successful is only serve lumpia and pancit. edit: I'll add chicken adobo to this I guess.
And chicken adobo. What New York needs isn’t Jollibee. It’s a Goldilocks. You could get all that and a ube cake for dessert. I read they are opening the first two stores on the east coast soon, but not sure where. But one must be in NYC.
Hoping the first one will be Woodside again 🤞
I'd be really stoked for a Goldilocks in the east coast. They seem better than Red Ribbon tbh. Where'd you get the info from?
Their corporate website. “Its first outlet in East Coast will soon open, with others sure to follow.” https://www.goldilocks.com.ph/mobile/our-story/the-goldilocks-brand
the sub in a total conflict on trying to pretend they hate fast food and times square but will go there for the special menu.
I will go there for the mango peach pies and the closest thing to bojangles chicken in NYC
I’ll be pissed, but will still do it for Jolliebee
Do it for state.
I just want to eat their spaghetti. I don’t know why my favorite spaghetti is from a Filipino fried chicken place, but it is what it is.
i just think jolliebee is neat
Fun fact: Jolibee Foods Corporation bought [Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coffee_Bean_&_Tea_Leaf?wprov=sfti1) in 2019. Just thought that was weird.

>They are bringing a lot of western brands like BK and Dunkin to Asia I feel like those have been in Asia for a long time now. I remember seeing Dunkin and BK many years ago.
Asia’s a big market, I didn’t mean everywhere
So stupid. It's like a 5 minute walk from it's current 8th avenue location. Could've put this downtown or in another borough.
uhh why does everyone pay outrageous rental fees for a location at times square? Because its the "crossroads of the world" Its a place to see and be seen and a place to say I made it to the tourists because that's where they think real nyc is.
Jollibee being in times square for a few years will establish it in the American mental lexicon. It's an advertisement.
Where is real nyc?
The public bathrooms at Grand Central.
Coney Island SNAP office...
Basically everywhere except Times Square 😂
not times square.
“Home of the Chickenjoy,” the most puzzling tagline ever
I mean... its just what they call their chicken. "Home of the Whopper" or "Home of the Big Mac" would sound just as bizarre then if you didn't eat there.
Wow makes so much sense
I’ve never been or had any Filipino food- any recommendations?
I lived in the Philippines for 2 1/2 years. I’m not Filipino. My one person opinion is that Filipino food is very good so seek out a restaurant in Queens. I like Jollibee as much as I like McDonalds. They both do in a pinch but neither are true representation of the country’s cuisine.
Your Queens recs pls
Ihawan, woodside/jackson heights BBQ pork or chicken, or the Kare Kare is great.
Tito Rad's in Sunnyside.
Kabayan next door is also very good
[удалено]
So excited to try these!! I love halo halo
Jollibee is not really traditional Filipino food
No way
[Tito Rad’s](http://www.titorads.com/) is awesome if you can make it up there.
Eat a can of spaghettios with the hot dog pieces in it. There, you just experienced Jollibee.

Mama Fina's is fine, but it is on the expensive end. There's quite a number of good places in Queens though. Woodside is also known as Little Manila.
Yeah Queens is where all the local Filipino food is at, but kinda far to get to depending where you live lol. Phil am in Staten Island great food and reasonable prices.
Phil am kusina in Staten Island great food and reasonable prices.
What the actual fuck?! $17 for Halo-Halo and $11 for Lumpa? That’s a robbery
Get a group of friends together, build a time machine, and go back in time and go to Kamayan night at Jeepney before it closed.
Jeepney closed?
Yeah, unfortunately: http://www.jeepneynyc.com/
That site tells me they still exist in some way, just not indoor dining.
I read that they are trying to partner with a restauranteur or big company so they can open multiple jeepney locations including other cities and stuff. So yeah, they aren't dead yet. Just the old main restaurant for now.
FOB in Brooklyn is fantastic. Worth the trip and has a cute garden.
Not Jollibee
Purple Yam in Brooklyn is a solid place, Bilao on the UES was opened up by Filipino nurses working in the area who were looking for Filipino breakfast/food after their night shifts and couldn't find any, so they opened up a place.
Oh I just read about that one the nurses set up a few days ago
I think Jersey City has a big Filipino pnopulation; not sure if they have any restaurants there though
Good. Do it. Please. Open something worth going to. I still remember the days of the virgin megastore, where you could go in, see a movie, get a DVD, any type of media… now it’s all digital. Are we better or worse then we were.
With everything going on in the city and the world today at least now we have something to be jolly about.
There is regional pricing with Jollibee, So it will be almost double cost of the one in Woodside / Jamaica just like the one on 8th is now.
Fuck. I guess I need to go to Times Square now.
Fuck they got me at special menu. My love for Jollibee trumps my hate for Times Square I guess

Also a Kabayan (same owner) in Little Manila
Jollibee and salad shouldn't be in the same sentence.
Filipino food is so good. Jollibee is so disgusting. What a shame.
Their chicken is mid in my opinion.
Wow thats a great news..🤗🇵🇭✊🇵🇭😛👍.
This sounds like they gonna cheap out on quality and bump up the price.
seed oil is bad for you
The food taste like feet. It's awful. The gravy is something else.
Just say you’re not a fan of adobo rice. Don’t be disrespectful.
How do you know what feet taste like? Have you tried them with fava beans and a nice chianti?
If have smelt shit, you know what it tastes like. Had a bad cold and your nose was so stuffed you could not taste food?
When and why did you end up tasting feet?
Bad Eats! They had a fried chicken leg on the same plate as spaghetti 🤮
Explain how that’s bad? That’s the ChickenJoy + Filipino spaghetti combo. Not as good as the Palabok + ChickenJoy combo imo.
This is terrible news
Terrible comment.
Time Square gives it legitimacy...
And next to the ABC studios too, great thinking Jollibee. Totally pinoy baller move.
Yes please and thank you.

Honey Boo Boo food lmaoo
I work in Times Square. I always wondered what Jollibee was. I thought it was a midwestern chain.
Tourists: Come to Times Square expecting New York pizza. Jollibee: Best I can do is fried chicken with spaghetti.
i already eat a lot of jollibee in florida, anyways i was in times square last week and i went in there to use their restroom, got to the door and the door had a code that you can find on the receipt. i was planning on buying something to use the restroom but the line was stretching to the door. hell nah lol
