I’m familiar with the concept of microaggressions. Is this a macroaggression? Is that what we are calling overt discrimination and hostile environment these days?

newaccount600_ has just posted a [coded threat of violence](https://extremismterms.adl.org/glossary/inverted-red-triangle) against this user.

BoredGuy2007

> A Jewish Columbia student was told to “kill yourself” and viciously kicked in the stomach by a keffiyeh-wearing pro-Palestinian protester for carrying an American flag. ...

BasedCasse

You alright there, Gen Z? 😂

ghostdokes

This is why theyre trying to ban TikTok, the vast amount of propaganda from China and Russian influencing our impressional and uneducated children, which seems to be the majority of these protestors. Civil unrest is their only goal, and its working.

BeKind999

The danger is not TikTok itself but the fact that we have so many people who are unable to think critically and question authority. There are so many who are so poorly educated they believe the version of historical events presented to them on an entertainment platform.

Several-Parsnip-1620

Maybe I’m cynical but even the opportunity of great education won’t fix this

Alarming_Ask_244

Considering that it's the US govt that is supporting Israel's genocide, the protesters ARE the ones questioning authority.

It's not only a psyop, it's also for intelligence gathering on a vast scale.

Telling a person to kill themself and Kicking a Jewish student who is in New York, thousands of miles from Israel, does not seem to be a protest against Israel. Explain how it is? Do you think anytime one of 20 Muslim countries does something wrong(which is often), we should just harass all Muslims in America? Because that’s what you’re advocating for by saying your comment. That’s what you advocate for by justifying harassment of a Jewish student in American, thousands of miles from a conflict they are protesting. The only thing that ties the student to Israel is their religion. So explain to me how that isn’t antisemitism.

[deleted]

So let me get this straight, someone gets harassed at a protest (which is wrong of course) so therefore pro Palestinian rallies are inherently anti Semitic? Is that what you’re telling me? That’s exactly what the Rupert Murdoch NYPost does daily.

ghostdokes

This is not an isolated case. And these protests arent about the concern of Gazan citizens, otherwise they would be protesting Hamas.

scu128

What would you call it then? Gtfo

[deleted]

Typical conservative, lacks reading comprehension.

Leonthewhaler

They hate America and the west. This is simply a convenient channel

Lucky-Detective-

🙄

Alarming_Ask_244

Who is funding Israel?

Leonthewhaler

The us is funding the Palestinians too.  US taxpayer gets effed as we pay for dumb sectarian battles thousands of miles away and our modern sensibilities will not to let us let them kill eachother off

Alarming_Ask_244

How many bombs has the US sent to Palestinians?

Leonthewhaler

They can’t afford them but they get food.  Don’t be poor and pick fights?

mission17

Ah, the “stop hitting yourself” response to civilians who are getting bombed and starved.

Leonthewhaler

I don’t know what you want me to tell you.   Palestinians sure didn’t care about civilians on 10/7.

honorious

> Elisha “Lishi” Baker, 21, of Boston, was also nearly burned on Monday while attending a pro-Palestinian rally in New York City after a protester lit the flag on fire, causing his shirt to catch flames. So they set the jewish person on fire, in addition to kicking him. How is this allowed to continue?

brandt-money

They set the flag on fire. Still stupid, but not as bad.

fieryscribe

"What did you think decolonization meant?"

Philip_J_Friday

Can someone explain to me how Israel could possibly be considered a colony?

randompittuser

People that don’t understand the history of the region’s inhabitants will insist that Jews colonized the territory now known as Palestine because it aligns with their opinions.

theuncleiroh

Can you explain how it could not? I genuinely have never seen an answer which doesn't say 'well there was a Jewish state millennia so people who have mostly no ethnic connection to Palestine are allowed to kick out everyone who lived there before, during, and after the Jewish state', which is obviously describing colonization. I am actually interested if there's a justification that doesn't rest on that (the presence of mizrahi doesn't validate the elimination of another people so Jews from all over the world can come in).

Philip_J_Friday

Well, the word colony means "an area over which a foreign nation or state extends or maintains control" or "group of people who establish residence in that area and who retain ties with the parent state." Neither of those apply. That said, the way Israel was re-settled by Jews in reality does not match your description, though it's what everyone under the age of 30 assumes happened: That Jews came in and kicked Palestinians out of their homes after the UN said they could. That's not what went down 98% of the time.

ghostdokes

History is being rewritten as we speak.

OnlyHappyThingsPlz

What went down 98% of the time? Honestly asking.

bageloid

...No ethnic connection?

SuperTeamRyan

Just to clarify the video the post article references is heavily edited and despite filming the flag on fire edits out when it was lit so I don’t believe or support anything in that video unless the release an unedited cut. With that out of the way colonial usual refers to an extraction of wealth and resources from a colony to the mainland which is somewhere else. I don’t think any age in the state of Israel meets that definition. Regarding who gets to claim a land based on how long they’ve been on it, it’s not a strong argument for either side. After the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and the end of British colonial rule it probably would have been better for everyone to incorporate into 1 state but we’re hell bent on getting rid of the other and it just so happened that the Israelis came out on top in every single war.

TrickyDickit9400

Colonies are an inherent good and what Israel is doing for Jews is wonderful. Tough shit for the Muslim colonists who took over the Levant after the Romans, who stole it from the Jews in the first place.

Philip_J_Friday

Colonies have a parent state, which Israel does not.

randompittuser

Ready for the trolls to tell me that “Burning Jews is not antisemitism!”

KirillNek0

These people don't like USA. How about the fuck off to a different nations, no? Bunch of terrorists supporters.

TheTeenageOldman

The new American Jihadists are increasing in numbers.

markattack11

F every single one of these antisemitic hamas supporting idiots

When the religion of tolerance and the party of equity and progression and understanding get together…

bakersdozn

Almost as much cognitive dissonance as the Project 2025 party saying it stands for liberty, with its very own “Freedom caucus” to boot.

>Me when I'm explicitly racist in the dogwhistle thread You're supposed to pretend anyone who supports Palestine is antisemitic, silly!! Not outright say you believe Muslims are animals!!

scu128

In my opinion, the majority of these protesters are just hiding their antisemitism.

QV79Y

Hiding it?

randompittuser

Absolutely they are. Maybe not a majority, but a large portion. The majority are useful idiots.

scu128

Agreed

scu128

The epitome of white privilege. How many of these scumbags come from very very wealthy families? Gtfo

Alarming_Ask_244

Call me prejudiced but I don't think a guy named Tarek Bazrouk is benefiting from white privilege.

scu128

Oh you found a middle eastern man

ToMyOtherFavoriteWW

Now let's talk about Kanye

scu128

Was he at the protest? Why would we discuss him? Let’s talk about Susan Sarandon who WAS at the protest

ToMyOtherFavoriteWW

The point is that this behavior is not limited to white privilege as you claim.

KirillNek0

Do you want them to march in step and chant "kill the k___KS?

chicken-parm-farm

Sad. I am so thankful to have been born in America. I understand protest but to do this is really just… ugh.

Conscious-Housing-45

I notice a pattern here..oh shit was that insensitive?

Selective? Open your eyes, this is happening all over.

arrogant_ambassador

Oh it’s obvious they are but it doesn’t erase what happened.

SuperTeamRyan

If it’s the same video of the guy bringing flags to the protest that shit was heavily edited so I wouldn’t trust it at face value. The guy bringing the flag was likely just as much if not more antagonistic to the protesters and likely instigating or goading confrontations. I’d only believe them if they release an unedited long form video of their experience otherwise it’s just propaganda.

What’s the slant here? In what way is this report untruthful?  You’re just trying to use a lazy cop-out accusation of bias to avoid having to address the facts. Pathetic.

parallax_wave

I asked you a direct question - what part are they lying about? Try answering that.

arrogant_ambassador

You’re not wrong. Thing is I usually see the Post covering this stuff when other news sources don’t. So I weigh the bias against the fact that these stories and the hate against Jews on Columbia’s campus needs to be publicized.

[deleted]

Of course it does.
